My travel agent told me that I have to pick up my luggage at MCO and take it to the ME counter because I am flying Southwest. Can anyone give me feedback if this is the case? I am leaving on 9/17 from Long Island for 7 magical days and I don't want to have any problems before my vacation actually begins. Thanks

Your travel agent is misinformed.

Actually, you can take the Magical Express transportation -- and Magical Express will transfer your luggage all the way to your resort room -- regardless of the airline.

Disney's Magical Express is available to passengers flying any airline that serves Orlando International Airport. The inbound service is exactly same, regardless of whether the airline is on the "participating airlines" list.

For flights home, the list of "participating airlines" only comes into play for Resort Airline Check-in, which allows passengers on some airlines to check their baggage and obtain their boarding passes right at their WDW resort hotel. But any WDW resort guests who are departing from Orlando International Airport can use Magical Express to get themselves and their luggage back to the airport; it's just that some folks will have to retrieve their baggage from the hold of the motor coach and check it in at the airport, while those who can use Resort Airline Check-in can go straight from the motor coach to Security.

Thank you Mr. Horsecollar, I appreciate your informative reply. I had heard several different answers. I guess though I won't be fully relieved until I get my luggage in my room.

Disney usually sends out the ME luggage tags about 21 days before your trip. Did you just book this trip recently and there is no time for you to receive the yellow ME luggage tags from Disney? If that's the case, then your travel agent may be giving you information as to how to get your bags on the ME bus with you. You can also give your baggage claim checks and a description of your luggage (maybe even a photo) and the ME luggage people will claim your luggage from the carousel and get it into the ME baggage transportation to the Disney hotels.
