Southwest and January Schedule

I know there are lots of threads on Airtran and SW. I am new to SW (flying August first time). I am looking for flights in January and there web site says on June 23rd, they will release flights through Jan 15th. We are flying the week after. Is it common for SW to release fares for partial months? Or is there hope they will release all of Janaury?

Their schedule release timing and details always are subject to change, so anything is possible, but opening up through only part of a month isn't unusual for SWA. There has been at least one time I can recall that they posted one release date and then moved it back a day or two, but I can't remember them changing anything else. As a result, I would not expect that they will release all of January on June 23.

I have been following the SW schedule for the past 18 months or so, and they have been very consistent for releasing just the dates that they say they will. Unfortunately, that means that your January dates probably won't be released until late August.
