I see Southwest has reduced to only one non-stop per day from a minimum of two or three previously at many airports including Buffalo. AirTran's initial prices are in the $300 - $400 range as well. And they told us this merger would be good for the paying customer ;-)

BOO as well, been waiting to book today and now not sure what to do. Hate the return flight from MCO time...too early. And DH wants nonstop flights. :confused3 Must figure this out as I refuse to pay $3000.00 to fly from Toronto.

Check JetBlue one-way for your return. I was thinking of doing SW non-stop at 6am heading down and JetBlue non-stop around 1pm on the way back on the 26th. $189 per person is higher than I'd hoped but still reasonable and better than Toronto. Plus you get satellite TV and radio...

I don't see our dates released yet on Jetblue...Sept 12 - 21. Am I missing something? I like your plan though:thumbsup2

Sorry. Was only thinking of myself :) JetBlue hasn't opened yet for your dates. I would expect them to do so soon. Of course, by the time they do your southbound SW flight will likely have gone up.

I guess I will just sit on it for now and wait for Jetblue to open up theirs. Hopefully it will all work out. :confused3

JetBlue usually has good prices when they first open up their schedule and usually have a morning non-stop southbound and afternoon non-stop northbound. I prefer to fly with JetBlue if the costs are similar. I'll pay $100 - $150 more to fly JetBlue than Southwest but that's just me.

I'm looking to fly out of Buffalo for the first time. I've gone out of Detroit a few times, and usually pay around $250 a flight. Is $300 round trip a good price out of Buffalo? I'm going June 2 - 10, so I'm flying out on a Saturday and back on a Sunday.

I would say that is a pretty good price out of Buffalo today. I'm guessing that"s around $139 per flight. We used to get $69 - $89 flights a few years ago but over the past year the starting fares have jumped to $124 - $139.

Thanks Questforthemouse! I thought it sounded decent, but I wasn't sure what average flight prices were. I think I'm going to ahead and book with JetBlue. It's half the price of flights out of Toronto. $300 is worth the drive to Buffalo I think :)

And JetBlue includes assigned seats as well as satellite tv and radio. The drive to Buf is easy and the airport is great. I usually drive down the night before and stay at a Park, Stay and Fly hotel near the airport...

There is also Allegiant and DirectAir out of Niagara Falls. I flew with Allegiant last March out of Youngstown, OH and paid $44 one way into St. Petes/Clearwater airport. Got like 4 tickets for $496.00 couldn't beat the price during March break before they started flying out of Niagara Falls. Of course I am flexible since have flown out of Detroit, Rochester, Pittsburgh as well. I do see flights for $43.00 one way into Sanford airport leaving June 2 and returning June 9th. Total rt inc taxes is $127.08. We take carry on luggage so we don't get dinged with extra fees and get our seats at the airport so no seat fees. Got seats together no problem.

DirectAir has a 50% off sale on right now. There are no flights on June 10th but flying into Lakeland is $143.50 inc taxes. Same thing take carry on luggage to avoid those fees.

Also check out sunwing.ca. I got a reallygood price (comparable to BUF) for a Feb flight. Not sure about when you are flying but might be worth a look.:confused3

I was just looking at the same time. 1 non-stop flight a day? Come on! Do you think maybe they release more flights later? Maybe its just September when things are slower? Can anybody else shed some light on this?

I'm feeling the frustration right along with you all! I hate the super early departure time both heading south and coming north. :( What was the service on Allegiant Air like?

I fly out of pittsburgh and airtran and southwest are the only two nonstop. So no competition, worried what my flights for November will be.:confused3

Not only was the price right at $44 one way out of Youngstown but we were through security in like 15mins and flight was actually early arriving into St. Petersburgh/Clearwater airport and same thing on the return. Such a small airport which is actually a US Air Force Reserve base. Allegiant is the only commercial airline that flys out of there. I haven't flown out of Niagara Falls airport yet but it is also a very small airport and I hear a lot of good things about getting through the airport quickly. Would definitely fly Allegiant again. Fares from Buffalo are on the rise not like several years ago since about 50% of the traffic is from Canadians now so the secret is out.

Don't forget to check Air Canada and Westjet, too!

I have previously flown out from Buffalo a couple of times, and I was planning the same for my last trip (Dec. 20-24). However, I didn't see any great discounts from either Southwest or JetBlue, so I decided to check the two Canuck airlines. Long story short, I flew WJ on the outbound trip, and AC on the return one. I also parked my car at Pearson. To my delight, the total cost for flights and parking was about the same as flying either SW or JB (minus the hassle to drive to Buffalo). The main reason was that WJ and AC were running like a 15% off promo at the time.

As an aisde, I haven't flown AC since last Sept, and was totally taken aback when they asked for $75 in luggage fees (for 3 pieces). I did know about WJ's $10 fee for seat reservation, but AC apparently has the nerve to charge luggage fees when WJ, SW and JB allows one free piece.
