I've been stalking flights for beginning of April from NY to Orlando....Southwest Airlines....and its so wierd......maybe someone has a clue to their pricing madness.......About a month ago it was $129 each way......recently went up to $133 each way......(whcih it was this afternoon).....tonight it's down to $124 each way. I've been trying to hold out for "sale pricing".....but any clues as to how/when I might see something better than the $124???
TIA

April? That's part of Spring Break (even if it isn't in your school system, it IS in many others), so 124? I'd take it, personally.

No need to "stalk" SW pricing...book now and if it goes down they will give you a credit back. Typically their pricing gets higher as the dates get nearer, but they will also throw is deals here and there.

Good luck!

And SWA prices have been higher overall lately.
Do realize that if you have credits to use, if you use them by Jan. 27 you can use them on anyone's reservation.
But starting Jan. 28 any credits you get you will have to apply to the same name. Not a huge deal; but I got a credit on all 5 of us for last Oct. flights--but typically DH & I do most of the flying.

Have you checked Jetblue? You didn't say what days you are trying to travel, but JB has several days in early April with flights under $100 from LaGuardia to Orlando.

April 5 and 6, April 10- $82
April 12- $89
April 9- $97

And from JFK to Orlando, it looks like they have a fare under $100 pretty much every day in early April.

We love Jetblue, and it always ends up being cheaper for our dates than SW. You get 1 free checked bag pp, wifi/tv/radio, unlimited snacks, etc.

Good luck!

Southwest is high for April, I usually pay 79 for Pittsburgh or MCO but had to pay $186 for Palm Sunday, ugghhh.

That's not exactly true. The "credit" they give you back is in the form of a credit towards a future flight that flies within a year of the day you originally booked the original flight. Most credits I get from Southwest expire before I get a chance to use them.

The cheapest day to book any airfare in the United States is Tuesday afternoon, around 3pm EST. This is due to airlines adjusting their fares in response to one airline's sale, which usually occur on Mondays. Fares typically stay low from Tuesday afternoon until Thursday afternoon. This is why I am not surprised you saw the $124 low price on a ... Tuesday.

Never buy plane tickets on the weekend. If you are lucky, you'll get the same deal as you would during the week, but sometimes you'll pay much more.

Thanks....I had a feeling there was some kind of day of the week thing to watch as well as sales. I know Southwest is selling their current "sale" promo until March 2011. I really don't think I want Southwest credits, so I'll hang on a bit and see what the next "sale" promotion is. Thanks all!

I've been upset with the prices for SW too. We are going the first week of May from Pittsburgh and the prices are $158 down and $138 back. I looked back to see when I bought our flights last year for our May vacation and the flight down I bought in January & the flight back I bought in February and I paid & $79 down and $89 back so I'm hoping history repeats itself and the prices come down in the next month or so.
