Question??? Has anyone flown Southwest Airlines over easter??? and what kind of fares did you pay?????? We are departing on 4/4 Wens Night and returning on 4/10 Tues day! Or any other air carriers and gotten a halfway decent deal?

I have not flown SW over Easter, but I tried!
I checked twice a day for new fares to be released. I found the release 3 hours after it happened and ALL the cheap seats for fri, sat and sun departures were GONE!
It was booking at almost $300 pp/rt. The base fare was about $170 less but was sold out within the first 3 hours.
We were so disappointed!
I, of course, cried for 24 hours then booked the trip for the HEAT of July.
So, don't wait for SW unless you can stand being disappointed, try another low cost carrier if you have a choice. (I love SW, just not the best for when you HAVE to get a specific date and can't afford the higher price if it is the only choice)

We just did southwest over easter. We live on Long Island/NY and southwest has the captured market here at Long Island/Islip Macarthur. I too tried to jump on the rates as soon as they came out and most of the flights were sold out immediately. I ended up changing our days and doing a tues/tues. arrival and departure. This was also when my aunt died and I tried to change the flights but everything was practically booked solid for the whole week and I couldnt find 5 seats on a non stop flight both ways etc. I am speaking of changing the flights like 2 days before the trip. Also the prices kept changing as did availability. I think we ended up with about $220 each including all fees and taxes. Alot cheaper than aa out of laguardia. We only like to fly aa usually.

We are headed from NJ to MCO Easter week as well. When the fares first came out, I couldn't find anything less than $500. On a whim, I went to www.kayak.com and there were fares from JFK to MCO for $287 RT with Delta. We needed 11 seats so I jumped on them. I would rather fly out of Newark, but we are using a car service (big van) anyway so it doesn't really matter. I keep checking back to see where the fares are at..now they are $357 RT and the non-stop flight home is sold out.

When it comes to Easter week, I wouldn't wait.

All of the airlines I checked so far have yet to release the fares for April 07! We are flying out on Weds night the 4th and returning on Tues night the 10th! I checked southwest they usually open there fares 6mos out! I made the mistake of not waiting for them on our last vaca in october over halloween and went with usa3000 and they cancelled all our flights and we wound up using southwest anyway! Our Airline options are Spirit out of ACY or Southwest out of PHL or Airtran out of PHL! And none of them have these dates open yet. Who did you book thru?

The fares are out for the major airlines. I booked outbound 4/6 and returning 4/14. We are going with Delta.

Why are you only limiting yourself to those airlines? I just checked kayak for your dates and you can do a United out of Philly for $237 per person, non-stop. I would jump on those, if it were me.

How many seats do you need?

Hey all
there are no cheap fares over Easter on SW especially if it falls on School vacation. It will show sold out but they are just not offered. Liz
