Does anyone know when SW usually goes further out on the calendar? We are going 9/20-9/28 so we are one day shy of being able to get a flight. Figures...

SWA posts that info on their Travel Tools page. Here's the current statement:

We are currently accepting air reservations through September 27, 2013. On March 4, 2013, we will open our schedule for sale through November 1, 2013. This date is subject to change! Please check back frequently.

We are going from the 21-28th. I booked our flights there already. When I booked those they said the rest of the month and October would be released March 3 or 4th. I cant remember what he said now.

HTH :)

How did you book your flights when they don't go through the 28th?

We are going 9/20 thru 9/28 too! :thumbsup2 I also booked the oneway ticket there because they only had 1 nonstop flight. I wanted to make sure that we go that before it books up. If there is a sale I will rebook and use the extra savings on the return flight. I like doing this better anyway. SW does not have any savings if you book a round trip vs oneway.

Do they usually add flights as the date gets closer? The times they have now don't work for us.

Yes I booked only the flight down, I think on your advice :goodvibes. The flight time was perfect, it was direct and in lower than my budgeted price!

I've booked one way on SW for years.....after I learned the hard way. We had a round trip booked for five of us and the price went way down on only one way of the trip....the other way the flight was completely booked. I couldn't do anything about it because if I tried to change only the one way I needed to cancel the entire trip to make the change and rebook....which I couldn't do and risk losing our seats on the segment which was completely booked. So, every trip since then has been booked one way only and if I get a lower price after I've booked I'm able to take advantage of it and collect SWA credits for our next trip! On several occasions I've also booked separate confirmation numbers...for instance we have five traveling, but, the Wanna Get Away fare won't let me book five seats, so, I lower it to four..still won't let me....but, I plug in three seats and bingo....so there are only three seats left at the lowest fare.....I book those and then go on and book the other two on a separate confirmation number. So, if you see a flight you like on the 20th ......go ahead and book it....you can always book the return portion when they extend the schedule.

Does anyone know what time of day they post the new flights?

Very early in the morning; as in about 5:30 a.m. CT. At least that's how it's been recently with maybe one or two exceptions in the past year or two.

I read yesterday that March 4th they will be opening up for flights up to November 1st.

Any thoughts when they will release their November schedule? Thanks!

According to the Travel Tools page on Southwest's website "We are currently accepting air reservations through November 1, 2013. On May 6, 2013, we will open our schedule for sale through December 19, 2013. This date is subject to change! Please check back frequently."
