Southwest Airlines customer service-long...

Your daughter must not be a frequent traveler (on any airline). What would you suggest SW do? Flights cancelled and then when travel resumed, flights were sold out. How could any airline put someone else on a full flight.

I was in this situation in January trying to get from LA to Chicago - stuff happens. The reason your daughter got nothing - she deserved nothing. Trust me - when airlines screw up they really try to make it right.

But in this situation, it was weather.

My kids were in NYC last year when Hurricane Sandy hit. SWA cancelled their flight and my kids were left in NYC for the week. I kept on rescheduling their flight, but LaGuardia was left closed for so long and everything was cancelled. I finally had to reschedule the kids on Delta leaving out of JFK. Because when LaGuardia was finally opened, everything for SWA was completely booked for days. Delta also required I paid the unaccompanied minor fee, so I was out a lot of money for that whole fiasco. But what can you do? It wasn't SWA's fault. I was kind of upset they didn't try to reschedule my kids on an earlier flight the day they were flying out (which was the day before the hurricane hit). But the kids had a good time staying an extra week with their father in Manhattan (he made it fun for them even though his apartment was evacuated & they spent the week in a hotel) and it's only money right? lol. I never expected any other compensation from SWA. I love flying SWA and it's my first choice whenever we fly, but I really like Delta, too. That's our 2nd choice.

Now that I know how much SWA gives to give up your seat I may be volunteering.
