Southwest Airlines 2 free flights credit card offer-What's the catch?

I also have not received any credits and my closing date was 03/06. I am waiting to see what happens when they post my payment to my account which is scheduled for 03/14/11. I guess if i still do not have the 2 RT credits then I will call. Do I call Chase or SW?

SW will tell you they get their feed fom Chase so best to ask Chase.

why is this so confusing? Oh, b/c free usually means 'you have to work for it' ok.... I called chase- and asked about closing date- which is March 23- she said the points likely wouldn't post till April 23 (bleh!) I have some questions-
What does the 'switchover' mean? I applied and got cards before the switch date- but I am totally confused- I was promised 2 free R/T for using the card-
Do any changes impact my choices of flights? Do flight prices change seat choices? Are these free tix- limited? The old way,vs the new way?
I had thought when i signed up, when the tix were awarded, it isn't contigent on the flight prices- am I wrong?
(asking b/c I have to wait for rewards to post,and I see flights for my dates now,that are pretty decent prices,so i'm felling anxious....)
The good part is we don't travel till next fall, but prices have me concerned that waiting for points to post might lose me the flights I need,if there are restrictions.....

I got the card just before the change over ... Was promised 2 free round trip tickets with no black out dates !!!
Got the card and called but they said only one ticket so I waited to activate until that was cleared (got a snail mail letter saying yes 2 free round trip tickets will be posted 6 to 8 weeks after my first purchase.)
So I made my first purchase, paid online and am waiting ... I assume I will have no problems using my two round trips to buy four one way tickets for June (these are over 200 bucks each right now.)

Well I just got an email from SW stating my award. There were 2 certificate numbers not pointsSo Not sure if 2 certificates equal 2 flights or just one...will call in the am.

Also they told me last week they wouldn't post till April, so I would check your email

ETA Just got 2 more certificates!!!! My husband also got his 4 free flights! So excited. Saves us over 1200.00

So after complaining I didn't get the credits I got them. It was only 3 days after my close date and I got an email. They say there are no BO dates BUT they only have a certain number of free seats on each flights. So I had very limited times that I could actually fly. In fact I ended up adding a day to our trip because of it. So I think it might be a little more limited then the promotion shows it being. However, with two of us in the family with the card 4 of us are flying free and saving like $1500! So it's worth having to be a little flexible with time of flights.

I received 2 emails in the 5pm hour and there was only one registration bonus, then I just got home and there was another set of 2 emails and I see the 2nd registration bonus.

Am I missing it? I am so nervous!

Spoke to soon....I also see certificates. There are 4 of them listed. No points. My family is yelling for me to come watch Survivor. Ahhhhh!!! LOL

And last question...what happens if fare goes down?

Yes, we had to book all our RTs separately. We have 4 different confirmation numbers. I went ahead and paid for the Early Bird Check In. I didn't want us to end up with wildly different boarding pass numbers.

If you have awards, the price doesn't matter..that's only if you have points. I don't book them online because I want to be sure hubby and I can fit on the same flight..I call and book. Yes, different numbers

Woohoo!! I have 4 certificates in my account and they state No BO dates and they don't expire until 03/15/11! This made my night! Now if I can use them for flights around Thanksgiving I will be very happy.

Worked out great for us too. I got DH and I each a free round trip by opening up a Visa in each of our names and earning an extra 1k combined gift cards. HOWEVER best part is that DH and I each had about 6 flight credits in our SW account. So when the system converted on 3/1, I booked 2 round trips with free flighs and then only had to add 125 in gift card money for DD's 350 ticket b/c the 6 flight credits converted over to points too! So I flew three of us to tampa (had to be flexible on the airport) for free and still have 875.00 in left over gift cards. AMAZING.....................................

Forgive me for not reading the entire thread. We are going to WDW in Sept. I would love to fly SW but the prices are very high. I am interested in this promo but I have a question. You get 20,000 points for opening the account. Possibly 10,000 more for balance transfers. If I transfer a balance to get the points and pay it off within the month would I still be eligible for the balance transfer points? Also to find out the point cost per flight do you always multiply the flight cost by 60?

i don't know about transfer of points but if you price out the SW ticket there is an option to see it in points or dollars, choose points and you will see points needed. I encourage you to act fast and open up the card. There have been great SW promos since december and each change they make the free offer goes down in worth. what they hvae now for 1 free ticket is "ok" but you have to pay 59.00 yearly fee too...still ok but get it now b/4 it is only a one way ticket!
