Recently the airfares for December have been released. They are little high from what I was expecting but I know that is the way it goes. I think I'm correct with Southwest that if you book your flight and the price goes down, you can rebook and receive a credit. Is that correct? Also, what if the deal is a Ding alert? Can you still get a credit if you rebook with a Ding? Thanks in advance!

Yes, you would have to cancel your original reservation and use the credit to book the ding. I would keep 2 windows open, do the ding all the way up to where you would pay. Then open up the second window and do the cancellation. Then finish the ding reservation. The difference in fare will be good for 1 year from the original ticket purchase date.

If the price goes down and it's not a ding, you can just go in and change the original reservation, selecting the same flights again. You don't have to cancel and rebook.

That's great advice about the 2 windows! How do you just change the ressie?

Go in under change flight and pick the same flights again. It will be repriced at the lower fare and the remainder will be a credit. You can don't this with a ding.
