Title says it all. Chase southwest plus visa card is giving 50k point bonus after $69 annual fee and 2k dollars spending in first 3 months. link:https://creditcards.chase.com/6000276?CELL=66T9&vanity=a1/southwest/2ffhero

They also have the premier southwest card w/ 99 annual fee for the same 50K points. I had to apply for premier as I already applied for the plus last year and cancelled it after getting my bonus points. I used my points on amazon gift cards because I had no flights last year.

I know this is a long shot but I received the premier card ($99 fee) about 2 months ago, there is no chance I can apply for this one ($69 fee) or the business one and get 50,000 miles, is there?

THANK YOU shystalips for posting this!!! I applied for the premier card about two months ago with the 25,000 offer and I called Chase after I read your post and they are upgrading me to the 50,000 offer because I haven't received my 25,000 yet. Again THANK YOU and lee lee give Chase a call and see what they can work out for you too!!!

You can have one active personal card and one business card, but you cannot have two active personal or two active business RR Visa cards. If you already have one, you will be denied any additional applications for that same category.

That is not my experience! I had the basic card and have had it for years, and received 50,000 RR points when I got that one. I applied for the premier card two months ago and received it no questions asked! I was told you can have the basic personal card and a personal premier card! The only thing that would be different for lee lee from my situation is she had the premier card first. I'd certainly call Chase and ask!

Thanks, now the big decision to apply or not, if I get approved that companion pass would be much easier to get!

Can someone tell me about the companion pass? I just received my very first SW primer card. I will be using it to pay for my new furnace/AC. With the 50,000 points that I receive, I should have about 60,000 points. DH has never had a SW card and is planning to apply for one today or tomorrow. If he gets the 50,000 points, would that quality us to get a companion pass? What I am asking is, can you combine points from 2 cards to get this pass?
Thanks

No I don't think so. My husband has premier card and that is linked to his RR account. Then I got the premier and business cards and I received 100000 points into my RR account. I soon reached 110000 points and got companion pass. But only because I had the personal and business.

Thanks. So, the points have to come from one person, not two. Oh well, I really don't want a second SW card.

That's not true. I have the $69 regular card and the $99 premier card, and so does my dh. In fact I tried to cancel the $69 card after I received the premier, and they offered me another 3000 pts to keep it even though I said I had two cards, so they don't seem to mind.:confused3

Do you know what phone number you called? I am waiting for my card to come in the mail and I would like to give them a call. If they don't do it, I want to have my husband sign up as soon as possible. Thanks!

I stand corrected, sorry for the wrong info! With the old cards as far as I know you were only allowed one of each...that must have changed with the new tiers of cards. So to the PP, go for it I guess!

What would I do without DISboards??? Thank you so much for posting this!!! I was just speculating on whether to wait out for the 50k or go ahead & get the chase sapphire.

Well, I knew my luck!!! Called SWA to ask for the 50k promo yesterday based on a friend getting the targeted email, no luck. So we applied for the sapphire, approved. Then I saw this post - imagine the expletives that rang thru my house LOL but its fine, just applied now for the personal w/ 50k points & all went well. We'll just cancel the other card, thankfully this came out just a day after & before we had a chance to charge anything to it or there may have been breaking noises added to those expletives.

Thanks again, would die (or pay ridiculous amounts of $$ on vacations) w/o my DISboard buddies!!! Hopefully one day I'll become hip enough to help others

let me know if you app for it and what happens. I have the premier but will be happy to get the other one too if it works.

I am so bummed...I got this card a month ago and the 25k points just went into my account so I am out of luck. Argh!!

I wentto the link but i can not tell- what is the difference between the 2 cards?
Thanks

The cards are essentially just about the same. Both give 2 points per dollar spent on SW purchases and SW partner purchases (most major hotels and car rental companies) and then 1 point per dollar on all other purchases. I believe both are now also Visa Signature cards.

Their main difference is their annual fee:

Plus Card: $69 annual fee with a 3000 point bonus each year on your anniversary. 3000 points = $50 wanna get away fares, so your net annual fee is $19.

Premier Card: $99 annual fee with a 6000 point bonus each year on your anniversary. 6000 points = $100 wanna get away fares, so that essentially cancels out your annual fee.

I just applied and was approved for the Plus Card. I previously had the SW card, used my 50,000 points, then cancelled the card. I wasn't sure if they would approve me or not, but I was approved instantly.

I might mention---- I am also an authorized user of my husbands SW card. I think I might have my name removed from his card since I will be receiving my own card within 5-7 days. Yepee!!!!!! So excited to have another 50,000 points to use.

Typically (though ymmv) Chase will honor any new promo within I think 90 days. Send them a secure message through your account saying that you are disappointed that a better promo came out so quick after you applied and see where it gets you. I know quite a few people have had luck with that with both this card and the Disney card (both Chase).
