On their website, SWA is offering 50k points with their Premier card. You can't have gotten a new bonus card within the last 24 months, you must spend $2000 in the first 3 months, and the annual fee is $99.

Given that I can buy 3 or more tickets to various locations with 50,000 points, this is a Great deal!

And if you can get the plus card with the same deal sometime this year (sooner than later...), and charge an additional $6K (on top of the $2K each to get the bonus), you will qualify for a companion pass for the rest of this year and all of next--that is a BOGO deal. I qualified last summer & it is amazing.

we opened two cards in 2013 to get the points to use to fly to florida for our disney cruise this year. Im so excited for these savings!

Can my husband and I combine our points onto one rewards account? If I already have a rewards account but not associated with a SW credit card, can I attach these points to it?

Unfortunately you can't combine your points with your husband. You can attach your current rewards account to the card, I think you provide your RR number when you apply.

You can combine husband and wife points by gifting one's points to the other, I think they charge $35?

DH and I each got our own SW cards 3-4 years ago, and got 2 RTs each (4 one way tickets). This was before the switchover to points.

Then last Oct, we both applied and got Premier cards, 50,000 miles each. Yay.

Sounds like a great deal to me. Two years ago I got took the SW freebie mile incentives and go their regular card, and then a year ago I upgraded to premier without any incentives, just because the regular annual extra miles that I could get and perks such as no foreign exchange fees for purchases that weren't in dollars make the slight increase in the annual fee more than worth it to me. // I love having the miles perks and am amazed at how many trips I've been able to book with the miles. Southwest too is the largest carrier from our hometown airport, so it's very easy for us to use the SW miles.

If I have the regular SW card can I apply for this offer or would that be considered an upgrade?

Thanks!!

I recently applied for the Plus and Premier , both offered 50k in points each after spending the required $2k on each card.

I used to have the regular, cancelled and got the premier and still got the bonus points. Now I'm thinking of canceling the premier and getting business card. The terms make it sound like you only won't get it if you get the individual product, at least that's the way I'm hoping it still works.

This bonus offer is available to you as long as you have not received a new cardmember bonus for this product in the past 24 months.

You can have both! I have both now. I should have my 50,000 middle of next month.

If you apply for both cards, can you add the 2 50000 points together to qualify for companion pass?

This might be a silly question, but can I get the tickets for all 5 of us with these points or are they to be used by one person only? I don't fly much so unsure how the point system works.

You are able to use the points to purchase tickets in someone else's name.

Yes if you can get two cards in your name (can't have one in yours and one in your spouse's), it will count for companion pass. I never got this done, but that's why forums were recommending people get a personal card and a business card at the same time.

You must earn 110K points in one calender year to get it (the earlier the better!)
SO:
50K card 1 (i.e. plus card)
2K card 1 (required charges within 3 months to get the 50K)
50K card 2 (i.e. premium card)
2K card 2
TOTAL: 104K
This means you need to charge an additional 6K before you will qualify for a companion pass. We just charged EVERYTHING at this time, then paid it right off.
You can use points to buy for anyone.
You do have to pay $5.20 per segment fees.
I LOVE that when you pay with points that you can cancel at ANY time with NO issues & you just get the points back.
You can transfer points for a fee, but it is rarely cost effective. I did it recently when there was a deal where you get 40% more & my husband had enough that we would be able to get one more ticket for an upcoming trip.
This is the card I give to my college son for emergencies & gas, and DD16 for gas--figure every $ helps!

I am wondering if anyone knows...I did get DH a card with my account. I would love to take advantage of this again in the future (we have thru this year). It says 24 months in between--do I need to cancel his card now, or is that 24 months between for the person who actually applies?

KKB, no you do NOT need to cancel his card that is linked to your account in order to open a new account in his name. I just did this recently, it is a totally separate account so will qualify for the 50,000 once the required amount is spent. Now I am thinking I will cancel my card so I will be able to get a new one in a few years!
