Ordering groceries to be delivered @ WDW this week from Whole Foods and wondering if tomatoes are in season for you ( season starts later up North) and if anyone could recommend a TNT variety that would be avail in supermarkets?

TIA!

So maybe the ones harvested from the end of June will still be around? 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾
I have my heart set on fresh ones but suppose I can eat some sun-dried tomatoes instead.

In Mississippi. My plants planted on Good Friday are still producing.

My folks currently live in Ft. Myers, they say the best time for growing fresh tomatoes seems to be Dec-Febish.
They lived in the Bahamas for about 10+ years and never seemed to be able to get a decent tomato to grow....
Good luck, and enjoy your trip!

I was surprised to learn that my town in central Florida would bring in garden tomatoes from other southern states in the summer.

Central Florida is pretty hard to grow tomatoes. We've tried for many years and only had minimal success with only partial sun plantings.

Tomatoes grown in other Gulf Coast states will be available in summer; it's not uncommon for Florida grocers and fruit stands to bring in produce grown from Georgia to Louisiana in summertime, when the soil temps in Florida are too hot. Think of it as semi-local, as it is generally not in transit for more than a couple of days.

Well that makes sense; most of the tomatoes grown for the N.Y. downstate market are from Jersey and proud to say so.

I’m going to “hedge my bets”; order grape tomatoes from WF and pack a few sundried. I’m bringing an aged porterhouse and want to do right by it.

My parents garden in south Alabama is still producing lots of tomatoes.

What do you do with tomatoes and a porterhouse?

Making a sun dried tomato and ginger vinaigrette for a steak salad. Still a how to do it thunk in my mind.
There are certain constraints like no heat source and TSA so I’m cooking the steak at home then vacuum packing it. Using a store bought salad kit for the convenience ( Ohhh but it’s organic 😆).
Will I broil and sous vide or reverse sear? Dunno but time is running out: Thursday @ 3:00 AM my ride is taking me to the airport. I’ll get it together hopefully with time to spare. Everything else is ready to pack and go.
