Southern Friends - a bbq question

We have always enjoyed. It may not be as good as what you are used to, but the food is pretty darn good (and a lot better than what they serve at Whispering Canyon).

Flametree has delicious food :) I guess it doesn't compare to the best BBQ places where I live (Atlanta) but since I'm at Disney, I'm not comparing to home anyway! I'm just soaking in the Disney magic :wizard:

Flame Tree sounds like a good lunch option for the day we are at AK. Is it or am I going to think it's not very good because of all the great offerings where we live? Please don't take offense Northern Friends!

It's good. Certainly hundreds of miles better than most of the chain style, mass produced BBQ you'd find at places like Chili's and Applebees.

It's not great, primo (Competition level) BBQ.

I've had better, but I've had SOOOOO much worse, too.

We eat there every trip.

And I won't take offense. :)

I love BBQ, and I think Flame Tree is good, but not great. We do go there almost every trip, but my expectations are medium instead of high :goodvibes.

I am from Louisiana and I grill, bbq, and smoke all kinds of stuff and I will say that we went in Nov. and it was great. I would say it is a must do while at AK.

I feel I can chime in on this one. Since I started judging KCBS BBQ 4 years ago I have been ruined for BBQ at restaurants, with maybe 1 out of 10 making me smile. Not that the restaurant fare is bad, it just is usually not served at the optimal temperature, tenderness, moisture etc. that I have been spoiled with at the competitions. I have not eaten at Flame Tree, but I will say I was pleasantly surprised with Cosmic Ray's BBQ pulled pork sandwich. I was ready to turn my nose up at it and I am glad I didn't. :thumbsup2

Clearly they have never been introduced to Dinosaur....

I like Flame tree just fine and I eat all sorts of BBQ.. even the mustard based!

Been to two of three Dinosaur BBQs and enjoy the cook book. I think the pulled pork holds up, but the ribs were inedible at both Rochester and Syracuse. What I love about Dino are the sides and the fried green tomatoes. The Texas Dr. Pepper Chocolate cake from the cook book is one of my staples.

My husband was raised on GA BBQ and he would say Dino was good for being in the North. ;)

I thought the chicken was surprisingly juicy and good! There's a few different sauce options at the bar where they have the ketchup, plastic ware, napkins, etc. We'll do this again for sure:thumbsup2

We're from Georgia, and we don't care for Flame Tree. We like our BBQ "wet," and find theirs too dry. (And yes, for those wondering, there is definitely a difference in wet and dry BBQ.)

It's surprisingly good for theme park BBQ. It's not something you'd drive out of your way for, though. Not bad, all things considered.

I'm a LA gal too (Hammond) and we also love FT BBQ. I didn't realize BBQ was so controversial and also regional (wow, people are very passionate about it). When we moved to NC our real estate agent that sold us our house wanted to bring our first meal for us and movers - a BBQ plate - took my husband and I awhile to figure out where the BBQ sauce was :rotfl2: never even heard of a vinegar, sugar, pepper sauce being called BBQ. We still laugh about that. It's good, but after 18 years, it's still not BBQ :lmao: just an entirely different, but delicious dish ;)
