South West...i made a bad choice on booking

Looked last night and found 3 tickest on south west for $590 total or $190 a person.

I decided to book it last night for an april 2 trip because I didn't want the price to jump. All major carriers were $279 - $330 a person.

Well, I looked on southwest today, and the price fell another $50. But I already commited.

That would have covered my cab fare from MCO. grrrrrr

I believe SWA is one of the airlines that will honor the new rates, right? Try calling back and see if they will lower the cost and at least give you a voucher for future travel.

You can easily cancel your tickets online and rebook. You use your original confirmation code as the code for your credit funds. I did it a week ago and it only took a couple of minutes to do. VERY easy!

I just cancelled my tickets for May and rebooked, saving $120. It really is simple. I do it with almost every SWA flight I book. It is a little scary that first time you hit "cancel" though.

Last time, I did not have to cancel to rebook. I just went in and changed it and was able to get the lower fare.

Go to the Travel Center part of the site and click on Change Air Reservation. YOu put in the confirmation number and name, and it will say (I think) check what you want to change. Check both outbound and inbound itineraries and it goes to a screen with alternate options. If the lower fare is available, it will show up there. Sorry if this isn't 100% right, I don't have a reservation to test it on. Anyway, you always have a option to cancel (which leaves you with your original reservation) at some point before clicking the final Save Changes.

They SWA agents are extreamly helpful, but, they cannot book these low fares for you.

I was able to change our reservation for our trip this past January also. I did call Customer Service first and a very helpful agent simply walked me through the online process. There were six of us and original ressie was $940.00. When prices dropped, I saved another $120.00 for total cost of $820.00.
I just used the $120.00 credit today to make a ressie for myself and DH for our anniversary trip in May. My cost today was only $134.20 round trip after applying the credit. Good deal I thought!!!

I too was just helped by an very friendly agent.

I didn't get a refund, of course, but now have a $200 credit to use on a future flight.

My fare also went down today but only on my return flight. After calling SWA and getting instructions from a very helpful young lady. I was able to "re-book" my flight and save $60 on two tickets. I now have a credit to use within a year.
As a side note, you can't re-book using the same flights that you are already booked on. I tried to do this and I kept getting an error page. Called SWA and the young lady told me that this was happening to everyone who tried to re-book today. She instructed me to book another flight for the return trip, finish that transaction and then bring up the "Change Flight" page again and book my original return flight. Did exactly as she instructed and received a confirmation e-mail for my original flights at the lower price. HTH

Last year I booked six tickets and the fares went down considerably. I called and the telephone agent changed my reservations for me to the lower internet fare. I think I might have lost my Rapid Rewards credit but I really didn't care at that point. I saved more than enough for a new ticket. They also refunded the difference back to my credit card and not SWA credit.
