South Padre Island

Made many day trips, but have never spent the night there. Any recommendations for good places to stay? We do need a fridge and we need to be on the beach. Aside from that, we have pretty modest tastes.

I live about 45 minutes-1 hour from South Padre Island. The only two places I can think of offhand are the Radison and the Sheraton. There's a fairly new hotel on the beach side, up by the convention center and its' "whaling wall". I'm not sure but I THINK it's a Holiday Inn Express. We won't be going out to the Island until April 26th, for spring bird migration. Feel free to send me a PM after then.

Camp and bring a cooler!! One of my fondest memories is pitching a tent and camping on the beach there...going to sleep with the sound of the sea was awesome. Though I wouldn't do it now unless I was in a secure camper.

I used to stay in Harlingen on business a lot - I think you were the one who told me Lone Star closed

I with you, though I loved it when I was young...I like my bed and bathroom too much now that I've gotten more, uh, "mature".
