South of the Border

Even though we are heading down via the I-81 I-77 corridor, we were toying with the idea of coming back north via I-95 and stopping at South of the Border.

Who has stopped? Is it really as cheesy as people say?

yes it is cheesy but we stay there often, Big gift shop to walk around after being in the car for a long period of time, indoor pool to strech out in after the above mention car ride, Decent room, reasonable price and seem like a fairly safe place. Not my favorite
but quite do able although my kids love it there Good luck take care Brenda

Yeah, it's cheesy, but whenever DW and I drive by, I have to stop. She hates it! Nothing really to see there but tacky gift stores and fastfood, but it is pure American cheese! I've never gotten permission to stay over, but now with a son of my own, maybe someday...

OMG...I can still see those signs We used to drive from Miami to Mass. at least twice a year and always stopped at S.O.B. And it's definitely American Cheese at it's finest. But, the kids always liked it.

My DS (age 12) got the idea from some of his friends who have been to WDW and passed by Pedro's place. I recall seeing the distinctive bumper stickers on their parents' cars to prove it. LOL

I have gone to the website which gives a little bit of a description. I was wondering what there was to do besides some fast food, gas and souvenirs.

It's fun to watch for the signs but my goodness what a huge waste of time in a rather boring and extreemly cheesy place. I'm in a bit of a hurry when trying to get to Dinsey or get home and I found this stop to be torture.

It's funny I was at my mom's house and found our photo album from 1987 when we drove to WDW from Pa.. One of the pictures is us in front of the Huge Pedro sign there, I had forgotten all about this. Does the place still look the same as it did back then?
