Hello fellow beachers. I am down 3 more lbs, which makes 11 since starting the beach, but to be honest, I have really been on Phase 3 for the last two weeks because Mom was in town and she did most of the cooking! ;) I've also been feeling a bit under the weather, so I have been drinking a lot of green tea and drinking chicken noodle soup or just plain chicken broth and that probably impacted the loss. Anyway, I'll take the three lbs off in 2 weeks! I will be back in Phase 2 now that Mom is gone. I'm having a hard time fighting this infection and am also cutting out dairy now, which was one of my staples on South Beach. A couple of years ago I kept having a recurrent sinus infection and I cut out dairy for a month and that cleared it up. The only bad thing is sugar free fudgesickles have dairy in them! :blush:
 
Just keep doing what you can Calena - your health certainly dictates what's possible for you ....... sugar free fudgesicles are good, but you can try the sugar free popsicles and there's always sugar free jello (neither of which come in chocolate flavor that I know of though :() Take care of yourself - you're doing great - you are still losing !!

I started tracking in January when I began South Beach, but I went to the doctor the other day (who was very pleased) and according to her records I have lost 60 lbs since last summer !!
 
Calena, I'm happy for your weight loss, but I really hope you do feel better. Make the plan work for you. That is the best part of this plan. :cheer2:

Hi all

Everything is going OK here. I'm not really losing any weight but I'm not gaining any either. I was really afraid I was going to gain some weight this weekend though. Our town celebrated it's 200th birthday this weekend with a parade and fireworks on Saturday. Then yesterday, our church celebrated the 170th anniversary of the church with a homecomming. Over the weekend, I had not 1 but 2 pot luck dinners one Saturday and one Sunday. If you know anything about big pot luck dinners you know there is a lot of food and depending on the group a lot you are not supposed to eat. The pot luck on Saturday was probably the harder of the two. It was a small group of about 20 people so there was much less variety. I brought somthing I know I could eat but otherwise there were only a couple of other dishes I knew were probably on the foods to enjoy. I sampled a couple of the other dishes and tried to be sociable. The Covered Dish on Sunday was much easier to stay on program. We had a good sized group of about 200 and there was a huge variety of food. I was easily able to fill my plate with good foods (although I did have a piece of pie. Before starting SBD though I probably would have had a couple of piece of pie and some cake and some ...

I was active though most of the afternoon helping with the children. We played kickball and basketball. I am horrible at basketball but they needed to even up the teams. I've played more basketball with the boys in our youth group then I had probably ever. I was never the athletic type growing up. Never played sports worked out etc. So I've got some catching up to do with these guy who play sports almost constantly. They are all great though and don't give me a hard time when I mess up.

I'm on countdown to start on Sunday so needless to say if it hasn't been nailed down I'm eating it.

After checking out a copy of the South Beach Diet three times from the library, I buckled down and bought my own copy this weekend at a used bookstore. It is a different version - this one has a walking plan and also little charts with bad, better, best ideas for snacks, fast food, drinks etc. I like this book - it must be an updated version. Forgot to check the printing date.
I have been struggling to stay focused. I feel like I am on the beach about 90 percent of the time, but otherwise.... I've lost another pound last week, but I know I am not eating right... a small cheat here and there. It is also hard to eat the SB way on the run, and I feel like I am constantly on the go this summer with too many things going on. I know this plan works for me, I just have to implement it. It just requires self control to stay away from the stuff that is bad for me. I am going to have to convince myself I am allergic to it and maybe mentally that will get me past this mental thing.
 
Hi Sheree', Jeremy, and everyone! I haven't posted in a while. :sad1:

I took my cruise in May and have been on and off with SB. Needless to say, I've gained back 8 lbs. I've lost 4 of them due to being back on Phase 1. I'm now on Phase 2 again and need to get the rest of the weight off (16 lbs). It is really slow going for me...as usual. I'll be lucky to lose one pound a week.

I'm still exercise 5-6 times a week trying to get in aerobics and strength training. My back has been bothering me a lot so I'm taking it more slowly. My doctor told me I have a back of a 70 year old at age 40. :scared1:

Anyway, I just wanted to say hello and see what my fellow SB's are up to! I hope all of you have a great day and wish you lots of luck in your weight loss.

BTW, got my cholesterol & triglycerides checked and my numbers are fabulous! ;)
 
calena, those small cheats really do make a difference. Don't be to hard on yourself. The one thing that kept me on track was how bad do I want it!!!!! I wanted it so bad, I couldn't cheat

I'm still going good and strong. I've not gained a single pound back, and it's been almost a year since I made goal. I think it's all the exercise that keeps my weight down.

Sheila - great news on those medical numbers.....for me losing weight has really helped my blood pressure.

Sheree - congrats on maintaining your loss - that is awesome (and an inspiration that it could be done :) )

I'm stalled at 45 lbs, wanting 10 more to come off. I just need to be more strict - I've been doing the small cheat routine lately myself, but mostly staying on track. At least I'm not gaining. Still getting nice comments about my transformation so that helps keep me going as well !
