South Beach Dieters......... Unite

Hey Kris! NO, Pilates are so great because unlike aerobic excercise, it is not as strenuous. At least I don't feel it is. Its very relaxing actuallly, and it stretches you and your muscles. The best part is it gets you to really tighten up your 'core' muscles. Its like pulling in your internal girdle of muscles and keeping it nice and tight through all the excercises. I saw a difference immediately. I am very busty and doing any kind of jumping excercise is uncomfortable. Pilates is awesome to me.
I really like the Crunch Fitness Pilates tapes like Pick your Spot(3 ten minute workouts for the abs, buns, or thighs) or Fat burning Pilates workouts. The trainer explains every move, plus gives you alternative moves for beginners. Plus, she reminds you how to breathe. Breathing correctly through the excercises makes them much more effective. I got my tapes at Wal-Mart.
I also do crunches on my stability ball. My back doesn't hurt and I really target the correct muscles. I did Abs of Steel and every other tape known to man to flatten abs in the past. Nothing worked as well or as fast as Pilates.
I love them!!!

Good morning all! :sunny:

Last week was kind of up and down for me. Mid week I had gained 4 lbs. I had a little bit more dessert on Wednesday than I should have but I didn't think it was that bad. I went to a birthday party on Saturday and a birthday dinner on Sunday. I ate more carbs than I anticipated but I still managed to lose 2.4 lbs! I was so excited to step on the scale this morning and see a loss. I was worried since the scale had gone up so much last week.

I also recommend Pilates. I am one of those people who have a big, poochy belly and when I used to do it I was amazed by how flat my stomach was getting! It really does work. I need to start doing it again. I have the barrel and magic circle and that was primarily what I did. I hate exercise of any type but Pilates was something I actually enjoyed.

Kim, wtg on the weight loss. It always feels great doesn't it, especially when you least expect it!!!!!!!!!!

Happy Monday everyone!

I lost 2lbs this week. I was very happy because I did celebrate my birthday this week. Yesterday I shared a slice of chocolate cake. There were four of us so we basically got a few bites each. I worked out a bit more last week, but I want to add one more day this week. I was measured at the gym and I had lost about 9 inches since the last time.

I hope everyone has a great week!!!! :flower:

Congrats Michelle and a belated Happy Birthday!

Good results Kim!

I have had it with being overweight!

I did Atkins in '03 and was moderately successful, but once I ate a carb, it all came back overnight and then some.

So, once again, I weigh more than I ever have.

When I spoke with my Dr., he suggested SBD, due to it being more healthy.

So, tomorrow a.m. I am starting it, along with my walking tapes.

Wish me luck and I hope to be checking in with you soon.

Welcome Momster!!! You will love it here on the beach. This is a great, healthy way of eating- doesn't feel like a diet except for the first two weeks when you can't have whole grains or fruit. After that, not a problem. And you will get tons of support and suggestions here.
Enjoy Beach living!! :goodvibes

Melissa,

Thanks for the welcome and the support.

Day 1 - so far so good. (lol)

I have done induction with Atkins before and really didn't have a problem with it, no headaches, no nausea, etc. Hoping for the same from SBD.

Momster, welcome!!! We are so happy to have you hear with us. Many of us are finding great success with the plan in both weightloss and inches. Please come back as often as you want and let us know your progress, what we can help you with and even if you have a struggle!

Welcome momster!!

I have found the SBD much easier to stay on track with than Atkins. I just don't feel like I am missing out on anything. :flower:

Thanks for all of the warm welcomes.

I am doing great motivation wise, but made a dumb mistake today. Went in to talk to my DH at his job, and grabbed 4 of those little after dinner mints (you know, the ones that look like pastel little square pillows).

I ate them without thinking. Didn't even think about it until we were discussing where we were going for dinner and what restaurant would be good for me.

I feel like such an idiot. Just shows how I can put food in my mouth without even thinking.

I hate that I cheated - it wasn't even on purpose. If I was going to knowingly cheat, it would have been something better than that.

I can't even figure out what to call them to try and look up how many carbs they were, and of course it was pure sugar :confused3 .

Oh well, off to some SF Jello for dessert.

Momster, don't worry about it. Tomorrow is another day. They might not effect you at all since you are at the beginning!

Sheree'

I hope you are right. Probably haven't purged body of all carbs yet anyway.

Oh well, I will listen to you and Scarlett, I guess.

Welcome Momster !

I don't think 4 of those little pillows will do you any harm..... :)

Don't sweat it Momster. I don't think they will do you any harm, plus now you will be even more careful during Phase 1. Keep up that motivation. That it is key to getting through the first 2 weeks. You can do it!!! :cheer2:
That being said, I was very stressed this week between work and home and the other night I ate an entire cannoli. OK, there it is. I refuse to say I cheated, I instead will say that after months of following this way of eating and nearly 40 lbs gone, I simply treated myself. And yes, it was really good! Today I am back on track, to get rid of the last 5 lbs, and hope for 5 more to fall off as well. My mom is doing very well and I think having fruit back is helping out a lot.
Have a great weekend everyone!!!

I have been majorly off the wagon for the past couple of weeks, but I am determined to get back on track. I figured a good place to start was here :)

So anyway, just wanted to say congrats to everyone who's doing well and keep up the good work! :cheer2:

I'm starting over for like the THIRD time! But.. I figure if I don't start over what's the alternative? I'd just keep packing on the pounds. :goodvibes

Good luck to you Lisa ...... the third time will be the charm !! :goodvibes

Hi all. Life is going good here even if the weight loss is slow. I am still roller coastering a bit with my weight. Up a bit then down a little bit more. Fortunately just like a roller coaster the top of the hill is lower than the one before it.

Welcome Momster, good to have someone new around here. Hope everything is still going well as you go through phase 1.

Welcome back Lisa. I no you will get back into the swing of things quickly.

Thanks Jeremy,

So far, so good.

I just noticed that every "low carb" salad dressing I have in the house, has sugar in the ingredients. I think I will check out the recipes in the SBD book for dressing recipes.

Trying to think about dinner tonight already. What to have, what to have, what to have.....
