South Beach Dieters......... Unite

Hello everyone! I hope all is going well. I'm trying to finish off my packing and everything for our Disney vacation. We leave at 2:00 in the morning next Saturday. Boy do I have lot's and lot's to do. I aqm making my own snacks to take with me. I want to have them just in case, that I way I won't over induldge. I know that this is my trip for me finishing my master's degree, but somehow, I still want to stay as close to my eating without failing. Besides, I find that real sugar is not good to me anymore. Anyone else get like that? Well, if you don't hear much from me, I'm packing. Keep me and the family in your prayers.

Have a fantastic time! Congrats to you and I will keep you and your family in my prayers for a safe and fantastic trip.

Have fun! :Pinkbounc

Sheree - have a great trip!!

Jerry -- Wow that is will power!! Passing up the cookies is one thing, but passing up on them after smelling them and they are still hot....... Oooh - I'd better stop before I get myself craving sugar again!

I am feeling much better after almost a week back on Phase 1. I am going to my neice's birthday party tomorrow, so that will be a test. But, I really don't want to mess up 1/2 way through my Phase 1 repeat!!

Today is day 7 of Phase One Redux for me and SWMBO. So far so good. I was down 5.5 pounds this morning when I got on the scale, but I will take my weight tomorrow as official and see if I can adjust my clippie again. Today we are getting our Christmas tree (lots of tree farms here let you cut your own tree). Then it is back in the workshop to finish a project I have been working on for WAY too long. I am building THIS SOFA TABLE BOOKCASE for our living room. I have already built the lamp from that issue of the magazine (you can see it on my website). I really want to get this thing done by Christmas. Have a good day everyone.

Jerry, congrats onthe weight loss. It must feel gret to see the scale moving again. BTW, I like that table!

MickeyMagic, that is good news. Sometimes all those goodies are real tempting, I know!!!!!!!!

Hi Happy Beachers!

I had a busy weekend filled with lots of temptations but I didn't cave in. The one thing that I do miss eating sometimes is french fries. We were out this weekend on Saturday at a gaming club and had dinner there. Everybody got fries but me. I don't regret not indulging but like I said, I do miss fries sometimes. I can find a pretty acceptable substitute for everything else though so I'm really fortunate to have found this way of eating to begin with.

I tried a recipe for homemade shrimp fried rice last night for dinner that everyone loved. I was even impressed with it myself. I substituted canola oil for vegetable oil and long grain converted rice (I guess you could use brown rice if you like) for the regular rice. It was awesome and I will definitely be making it again. Like I said before, we have discovered a wonderful eating plan that let's you enjoy food and still drop the pounds. I really can't ask for more. Oh, well, I guess I would ask for these last 35 pounds to be gone faster! :)

Sherri - have a great trip! I'm sure the snacks you are planning to take along will help with staying OP. I feel the same way you do about the sugar and flour. It's just not good for me so I don't eat it. My body can't handle it and never could, I just didn't know it but now I do. We'll miss you while you are away!

Jerry - congrats on losing those pounds!!! I knew you could do it!!!!!

MickeyMagic - great job with sticking to Phase 1 at a party. If you can do that, then I know you'll be successful with this way of eating for life.

Melissa - congrats to you for being so close to goal. I know you can't wait to earn that red clippie!!!

:Pinkbounc :jumping4: Yep, Phase One Redux is working. I just changed my clippie again. I have dropped six pounds since last Monday, so I am back to the 25 pound (acutally 26) since starting back in January. 30, here I come.

Jerry - congratulations!!!! I knew you could do it. That 25 pound clippie looks mighty good on you. You should be so proud of yourself!!!

:cheer2: :cheer2: Jerry, that's wonderful, you're back on your way :cheer2: :cheer2:

Jerry - good for you!! I am tempted to get on the scale but have decided on Weds for weigh-in days. Hopefully I can get a new clippie too!

How is everyone doing on exercising? I was walking this summer and belong to curves but am having a harder time getting there. Easy to make excuses this time of year (too cold to walk or slippery so I don't want to drive to curves). You get the idea. I have the Walk off the Pounds video, a kit from The Firm, and a Pilates DVD with exercise band. Okay -- I admit it -- I'm an infommercial sucker when it comes to losing weight! Anyone have success with any of the ones I mentioned? I'm thinking I need to start doing something I can do in the house for the winter. I will still try to get to curves 3 or 4 times a week, but want something else, too. What would you suggest?

 Hi fellow South Beachers! I've been absent for a while, but thought I'd join you again. All of you seem to be doing great! I've bounced from here to there, but am trying to mostly maintain during the holidays. I have 22 more lbs to lose now and I'll be at goal. I actually lowered my goal weight because I am trying to fit into a size 8. We'll see.

MickeyMagic - I am a true Firm believer! I just love love love my Firm work outs. We have a Firm thread here on WISH if you care to join us. We would love to have you. I work out with my Firm tapes 6 or 7 days per week. I actually hate to skip a day. I only do if I am really really tired or sore. I enjoy the mix of cardio and weights and know I can fit into a size 12 pants (and even one size 10 stretch jeans) at 190 pounds because of the inches I have lost with the Firm work outs. DH started SBD at the same time I did and I have lost about 40 more pounds than him and I know part of it is that I work out just about everyday and he doesn't work out at all. I also enjoy being part of the month exercise challenges where we try to get 1000 minutes of exercise in each month. I have been doing this since August or September and I have only not made my minutes one month but even that month I had about 900 minutes. I truly believe you need the right eating plan and a fun exercise regimine for optimal results.

Shelia - it's good to see you posting with us again! You'll get those 22 pounds off and be at goal in no time!

Thanks Lisa! You seem to be doing fantastic! :D

Hi everyone. It looks like everyone survived Thanksgiving. I've been on and off for the last couple of weeks. I'm maintaining my loss though, which is good. This week is different though. My DH started SB middle of last week and has lost 9 lbs already! So now that he is on track it has motivated me to get back on track. I'll have that 20 lb clippie before too long.

Mickey's Magic, exercise in my opinion is so important. I like Lisa (zeraspride) do the firm. I believe the firm was instrumental in my weight loss. I work out 6 days a week and sometimes do 2 or 3 tapes a day! (a fanatic I know) DH hasn't worked out at all and even though he's lost 40 pounds still looks heavier than if he ahd worked out. I am 3 pounds under the 130 I wanted to be because i wanted to be 130 like in high school. I had it all fixed in my mind. Well back then I was a size 10, now I'm a 4 and into some 2's! Exercise will help keep the weight off and not only that but I believe you will maintain it better. You'll make it to your goal, just keep at it! :cheer2:

Mary, hi again. I'm glad you didn't gain anything over Thanksgiving. It is so hard not to go over boards, but it takes willpower. Good luck with the weight loss, and please come back!

Sheree and Lisa -- ever thought about making an infommerical for the Firm? :) I will have to go dig out that box with my Firm kit and give it a try! Is it really hard at first?

I need a new clippie!! I deleted my 25 pound clippie to replace it with a 30 pound clippie, but I can't seem to get it to work. I copied the URL from the thread with the WISH clipart and added it to my signature, but it isn't showing up. Any ideas what I might be doing wrong? I updated my train ticker and it's working.

no, I've not thought about being in the infomercials. However, that would be fun. It isn't hard to start, just takes some getting used to especially if you haven't worked out in a while.

The amount of weight I have dropped while doing Phase One never ceases to amaze me. This morning when I woke up, I was down 8 pounds since starting Phase One again on 29 November. But I gotta tellya - this week has been a trial. I teach computer networking classes for my company and this week I am teaching Visual Basic Scripting. Class is going well, but, as a treat for the students, we keep these BIG bowls or baskets of candy in the classroom (that along with our student cafe and free coffee and sodas helps keep the students well caffienated and sugared during the day so they don't fall asleep during my lectures) :jumping4: :jumping3: :jumping3: :bounce: :jumping1:
So far I have not given in to temptation, but I REALLY want to dive in a gorge on Hershey bars and Reese Peanut Butter Cups. Better open another bottle of water. :D

Jerry, that is great that you've resisted those treats!

About The Firm....is it hard on your back? I have a bad back and have to be careful regarding my workouts. Currently, I use Walk Away the Pounds (3 Mile) and a stability ball to You Can Do Abs. Thanks!!!
