South Beach Dieters......... Unite

Happy Monday everyone!

Just wanted to report that I stayed OP the enitre week-end. Luckily I had my DS for support. She also stayed OP (Atkins). I was rewarded with another 1lb loss, so I am at a total of 14.

Welcome to all the new members. Don't give up. The cravings will go away, and you'll be rewarded with weight loss, increased energy, and overall better health. I have been on almost every diet, and this one works for me. I was successful on WW, but because of the carb cravings, have never been able to maintain the loss.

This board is great place for inspiration, so visit often. It will help you get through the "bad" days.

Enjoy your week!

I was bad and I paid for it. I had some chips, my system rebelled against me. So today my tummy is killing me. Did I ever learn my lesson. I didn't gain but no loss either. I am ok with it since I cheated. I hope to stay OP in WDW. I am off tomorrow. I will miss my support group but I will be thinking of you all.

Good morning all!

Welcome to the new South Beachers! This is a great program and like others have mentioned, once you get past the first few days the cravings will go away.

Sheree posted that she hasn't had a McD's french fry in five months and I haven't had one in almost 7 months. It can be done and the foods we eat are so yummy I can honestly say I'm not feeling deprived. I won't say I've never been tempted but after losing 5 pants sizes and 65 pounds, I know it's not worth it. I didn't even cheat at Disney two weeks ago and there were lots of things that could have tempted me to go off program. We are here to support and encourage you, check with us often!

Weigh in day was yesterday for me and I'm down another 1.5 pounds and I've snagged a beautiful 65 pound clippie!

Melissa - Have a great trip and if you have decided to stay OP, then you won't have any problems. I've got my trip report posted if you want to take a quick glance (sorry it's so long) and get an idea of places that have sugar free and no sugar added treats so you don't feel deprived.

thotfulspot - congrats on your weight loss! Keep up the great work!!!

leanne2255 - congrats with staying OP and on your weight loss!

Kimmykins - lovely clippie you have there!

Sheree - what a great job you are doing! Congrats on your loss and being in the 140's. My goal weight is 140 and I can't wait to get there.

thotfulspot-3 pounds is terrific. I'm sure you are already feeling so much better. Good for you.

Melissa-Have a wonderful trip. There is a way to stay onplan. It is hard and there will be temptations, but I know that you can do it.

leanne2255-Congrats on the weight losss. A pound is a pound. One more and you will have a new clippie!!!

Lisa- you are extremely encouraging!! 65 pounds, how wonderful for you. I wish that was me, then I'd be at goal. Keep up the good work, you are motivating for us all.

Here is a jump for all of us losers

Hi there i'm new to this part of the boards

i'm 16, m and from england and started on south beach last monday (14th june).

I started because i want too loose a bit of weight, but not sure how much.

On wednesday i went to a resturant and had chicken and bacon salad, but there was also potato salad and i couldn't resist it, then yesterday i had a couple of strawberries (are they allowed?).

So, i have been on it for one week, or 5 days if it means starting on thursday again.

On Monday 14th i weighed 186 pounds and today i weighed about 180 - 182 depending on which scales i used!

i have a few problems, when i get in from school at about 4.30 i used to have a chocolate bar or some toast or crips. i used to have the same type of food when i was hungry and i have resisted them so far. what types of food are good in replacement?

Another thing is do you think i should keep on phase 1 until next monday, or until the thursday after that because of the potato salad??

Thanks:teeth:

well I woke up with a severe chest cold today, and when I get sick I seem to want all comfort foods. I went to the store and bought some chicken broth, walnuts to snack on. And unfortunally I had to get russell stover's low carb/no sugar chocolate. I feel like I fell off the wagon but I feel like such crap I had to have some chocolate to make myself feel better.

Welcome stal!!!! I'm sure you'll love it here on the Beach. This is a great thread to get encouragement. I think you'd be okay with ending Phase 1 at the end of your original two weeks unless you find that eating that potato salad gives you cravings then I might stay on Phase 1 for an additional week. As far as snacks go, you can have string cheese, some yogurt or nuts as a snack. You aren't supposed to have fruit until Phase 2 so you may want to watch that. It sounds like you're doing great, congrats on your weight loss!

Cris - I'm so sorry you are feeling under the weather! I got a nasty head cold a few days before I left for my Disney trip and all I wanted was some comfort food. Fortunately for me breakfast type stuff is comfort food for me so I'd make some bacon and eggs and have a some cereal and feel comforted. I also took a small bag of the sugar free treats with me on vacation and enjoyed them a couple of times so it's perfectly understandable that when you feel miserable, you want some comfort. I hope you feel better soon!

stal:wave2: Welcome to life on the Beach. I can't add anything else to what Lisa has said. If you feel like you are having cravings, then you should do phase one longer to rid yourself from all cravings.

Cris, I hope that you feel better. Try not to eat to much low carb snacks as it has away of giving you stomach cramps, bloating and (excuse me for saying it) gas. You might feel comforted but then your stomach might make you pay for it.

the only thing I had was the chocolate eeep I really don't need cramps I feel like crap already lol!!

Cris, I do hope you feel better. I just know that the sugar alcohols in those candies will make you feel so much worse

should a drink alot of water to try to flush my system out??

yes. Water is always good, not just when you are sick, but with this plan the water keeps you hydrated and can help with constipation. Plus it helps fill you up.

they are a sweetner that companies use. It it said that it has no effect on blood sugar levels. However, if too much is eaten, especially at one time, then your stomach will feel the effects of it.

Cris, did you know they have sugar free Halls throat losenges? I found them at the drug store when I was looking for some Zicam. I'm certainly no medical doctor but maybe the Zicam might help you like it helped me. They are cold remedy swabs that you place up your nose - you swab the medicine around up there and it actually reduces the length and severity of your cold. I was so desperate to feel better for my trip that I was willing to try anything and these things really helped!

Just something to think about. Feel better soon!

Thanks everyone for the great words of encouragement. :D I sure am glad I have found you all. Without you, I would never have tried the SBD.

As for today, it's my birthday. The big 21. I fought off the temptation to eat a piece of cake a co-worker of mine made for me, felt kinda bad about it since he did make it for me out of the kindness of his heart, but he understood. I did although have a piece of low carb chocolate cake my DF made me, it had yummy low fat Philly cream cheese icing. He made the icing pink, since that's my favorite color. I also got a rum and diet coke. Did stay on track the rest of the day though. We went out for dinner and I had a salad, a steak, and some broccoli. I hope you all had a great day today.

I wish I had read this last night, Happy Birthday. I hope your day was wonderful:cake: :bday:

Kimmykins - I'm so proud of you for sticking to plan even though it was your birthday. That is an amazing feet! I think you handled the cake situation with your coworker so well. Good for you!!!! I just know you will reach your weight loss goals. We're so glad you found us! :)

I did buy some zicam on Sunday..it has helped I just still feel really weak but that is because I am not eating properly.
