Sounds you can't stand?

Teeth scraping/crunching on an ice cube.

Also, that lone fly or mosquito that's hiding somewhere in your room at bedtime.

Little kids are adorable. They can be unintentionally funny and honest. Even when they misbehave, it's just kids being kids. It happens.

But somehow, every kid who has ever lived is somehow able to shriek in a way that feels like someone has just jabbed an icepick into my brain. I literally and physically wince in pain. If it goes on too long, I actually develop a deep, dull headache.

My cat pawing at the shower door in the master bath. It makes a big rattle as one glass door bumps into the other, and is her way of telling me it's time to get up in the morning. So annoying when it's still dark out. It's not enough for me to open the door to her catio and feed her--I quit doing that. No, she wants me to get up, which I won't do. I do lock her out of the bedroom suite at that point. She'll make a ruckus in the house, but I can ignore it.

one of mine likes to paw at the spring door stop behind the bedroom door so it's boing, boing, boing, boing... until we can snag her and toss her out of the room:cat:

I actually have misophonia...the list is endless...but one that drives me batty is any repetitive sound...i.e. drumming of fingers, on a table, tapping of a foot etc

Those things are just cat toys!

The screech/whine/rumble/roar of power tools and air compressors, which is unfortunate for somebody in my line of work (construction). I also hate sirens and motorcycle engines. My current least-favourite sound is the Kars for Kidz jingle. :scared:

I’m not a fan of any kind of noise really, but the top one are probably -

Snoring
Chainsaws & other screechy machine-y type noises like Leaf Blowers
Chewing/Smacking
Repetitive Nose Sniffling
Dogs Barking (for an extended length of time) &/or Dogs Licking
Vacuum Cleaners
Kids Crying/Whining in places like restaurants

Babies crying or children being loud in church.
When my babies were babies I would never keep them in church during a service if they were being noisy I’d take them outside of the church and go in the lobby (babies cry, but I never expected other people to have to listen to them), and when my babies became older they learned how to sit and behave during a church service. I always had a special church bag with books and soft toys that they had only for church.

Another is music in the house - I like music in my car, but not in the house - weird, I know.
The only exception to this is Christmas music

People listening to their phone in public without headphones. Those speakers are horrible and I don’t care to hear that tinny sound. Goes for people letting their children play or listen to a phone with the sound audible.

I hate the sound of a fan. I need a fan while I sleep for the air movement. I wear earplugs.

Really, though, white noise of any kind drives me absolutely crazy. The fact that people need it to fall asleep is baffling to me. It literally creates anxiety in me. I need absolute silence to relax. I have invested heavily in noise cancelling headphone technology.

Someone brushing their teeth. The sudsy scrubby sound, the spitting, the gargling? :crazy2::crazy2::crazy2: I have to plug my ears every morning even though DH closes the bathroom door. It's gross!

It's always such a relief to turn off the AC or fans in the summer and have quiet. I can't hear anything over the noise.

How about being on the receiving end of a phone call where someone is using their speaker phone in public? Try hearing what they are saying over the tinny connection with all the ambient sounds surrounding them, not the least of which could be their hand moving on the phone because they are walking or just adjusting their holding of the phone. Gah! Some days I really miss landlines!
