This is the first time we will be visiting with a hearing issue. Mom sometimes has difficulty in loud situations now. When we go to a movie she wears earplugs. I'm wondering if there is a type of earphone or headphone that might help her while we are in the Parks, while still allowing me to talk to her. We're taking ear plugs at least for the fireworks.

first aid has the foam in ear one kind of like these https://www.amazon.com/Shield-Earpl...8-spons&keywords=foam+in+ear+protectors&psc=1

I use over the ear ones likes this https://www.amazon.com/Vanderfields...479247225&sr=8-4&keywords=over+ear+protectors

but I do have a hard time hearing with other people are saying.

also disney fire works are very loud there are times I have to use both kinds and it is still to sound for me. ( some times I will use my ear buds and the over the ear protector.

My DD uses Peltor jr earmuffs. They are kid-sized, but Peltor also makes adult size. You can find them on Amazon. She's able to have conversation with people next to her but it blocks out a lot of the background. She wears them here at home for basketball and hockey games with very loud whistles/buzzers that she can't tolerate. But sitting next to her we can talk about the game easily.

Enjoy your vacation!

There are earplugs that are noise reducing but let you hear, for audio engineers and musicians and such, but they're EXPENSIVE.

Yeah, that's what I'm seeing, too. With their cost, and she never has really liked anything in her ears, I think we're going to be stuck with just foam earplugs. I wanted to make things more comfortable for her, but she doesn't like the idea of dealing with headphones.

So we'll probably get there and two days in she'll say she wishes she had them :p

disney dose sell over the ear phones that you listen to music ( they were in the enporium) and about $50 when mine broke mid trip ( and I do need something ) I was given one for free they worked pretty well to cancel out the noise ( I did have my music playing to help too) but if she really needs something that dose not go in her hears this may work for her. ir there are walmoarts that should have the over the ear protectors close by.

I will be taking the drug store foam kind for my DS for parades and fireworks.

*happy dances* I got mom to agree to a pair of earphones, as long as I took a pair as well. The ones we've found and are hoping will help aren't actual true noise cancelling, but they're for phone or gaming use. HOPEFULLY, that will not only dampen just a little of the crowd noise, but it will also make it easier for us to talk in the parks using our phones if we get separated. We're also still taking the foam earplugs.

I don't have a huge noise problem, though there are days when it's an issue, but I have absolutely ZERO problem going around wearing a pair of earphones if it will encourage mom to do so as well. I think this is going to help make aspects of the trip much better.

Thanks so much for y'all's suggestions!!

(By the way, the trick that got her to agree to do it... played her a ride-through video that included the line, in a noisy ride.)

Hope this info isn't too late to be helpful @Rajah- I have noise sensitivity from a TBI and I use etymotic earplugs quite often. They filter out the highs and lows but still allow me to easily hear a conversation (important since I have 3 young children). They are quite comfortable and inexpensive as well. I wear them at restaurants, the movies and of course, WDW! http://www.etymotic.com/consumer/hearing-protection/er20.html

We're back and had a wonderful trip. we ended up taking foam earplugs (which mom used a couple of times) and a couple of pairs of gaming headphones, but only needed those one day. That was a busy day at Disney Springs, and my anxiety was kicking in. It doesn't hit me often, but when I realized the crowd noise was triggering me, I tried them. They worked just right for me, cleared up the anxiety, and by the time we got to our NOISY dinner, mom needed them. Other than that one day, we would have been fine without them
