As part of my provisional status  in the garden club have to make an arrangement for a meeting.

The extent of my arranging is a big old rusty bucket or a dirty glass i find on the table. I hack a bunch of flowers and dump them in. then I wait till the cats knock it over or drink all the water.

I'm a dirt gardener, not a flower arranging one!

I am really anxious about this.

Okay, okay. Calm down. I'm no Martha Stewart, but even I can make an arrangement look decent.

Is it for a dinner table? If so....not too high so people can see across the table. Start with something small to put it in. Truthfully, even a coffee can with a bow tied rakishly around it looks good. Fill it with wildflowers....nothing formal....AND RELAX!

For a taller arrangement, use an ice bucket, a large pickle jar or something like that. Take taller flowers - sunflowers are nice if they're still around in the garden. Perk it up with a country type bow.

If you're going formal, order it. I ain't no help there.......

Gina had nice suggestions. Can I ask a question? How well you do this arrangement determines whether or not you become a full-fledged member of the garden club?

Whoa!

Well, I think you should do what you normally do, just making sure that the arrangement looks proportional to whatever you are placing it in. I love to use a large white pitcher I have that has a cat as a handle (the cat looks like he's looking into the pitcher). No matter what I put in there, it always looks nice.

Good luck and let us know how it went!

Amid, Gina has some great ideas, but I have to say "be yourself" Make the arrangement to be you. I love the rusty bucket idea.

Make something that make a statement about who you are. Some sunflowers, some grass cut from your lovely garden. Maybe even a cat hanging from the bucket. I've seen these cats in the craft stores.

Hope to see a pic of what you decide to do.
