Has anyone else here noticed the change in the early morning programming on the Disney Channel? I used to let ds turn on the tv at 6:30 in the morning and we'd watch Ooh and Ahh; Johnny and the Sprites; The Wiggles; Little Einsteins; etc. This always bought me the time I needed to get his younger brother and sister ready.

Now, when he turns it on at 6:30 or 7, I'm seeing commercials for the tween programming on Disney Channel (inappropriate shows for my 3 year old). I don't have a problem with the minor changes to the schedules that happen periodically, but at first I thought they just took away Playhouse Disney all together. Then I realized they just shortened it by starting it LATER. If they were going to shorten it, shouldn't they have just ENDED it earlier??????

Sorry -- more annoyed by it then I realized when I started to type.....

Yep! I noticed it too! Though I just looked at the early morning programming for tomorrow and 5:30 is Lilo & Stitch, 6:00 is Phineas and Ferb, 6:30 is Imagination Movers, 7:00 is Handy Manny... The only iffy show in there is Phineas and Ferb. Yet I recall the exact same thing you're talking about. Hmmm, strange!

I'm not thrilled about Lilo and Stitch either.....but Phineas and Ferb is DEFINITELY not appropriate for preschoolers. GRRRRRR....

DH is suggesting that maybe they are recognizing that they should spin off their own channel -- just like Noggin for Nickelodeon.......

was the change due to school being out? i often notice when schools are out for an extended time (Christmas break, spring break, summer) programing changes to accommodate the older kids who have nowhere to be in the morning.

Just tonight I was telling DH that they changed the program lineup (what happened to Jojo?) and I said that I thought they needed a Playhouse Disney Channel, just like Noggin split off from the N. Once noon rolls around we usually switch off Disney and head over to Sprout or Noggin. I think they are actually losing views because of there programming. Don't flame me, it's not like I let DS3 watch tv all day, but there are some days when it would be nice to catch Higgletown or the Movers later in the day, like when he is sick or in the case of today when the we are stuck inside all day due to the weather, just having it on in the background while he is playing Thomas makes all the difference!

I agree. Some shows are just not appropriate for preschoolers. That is one reason I don't mind having Playhouse Disney on. I definitely agree with having a seperate Playhouse Disney channel.

I have the opposite problem up here in Canada

They use to have Lilo and Stitch on at 7pm PT and now it's not on at all!

I just purchased a DVD Recorder so I could tape some Stitch for my niece who loves him. I sent an e-mail and the reply was that they may not put Lilo and Stitch back on. All the other shows like The little Mermaid, Aladdin and Buzz Lightyear are also gone!

My issue with it is that it starts WAY too early for us late risers. By the time DS is up and out of bed, we are lucky if Imagination Movers is on and that's the last one we get to watch :(

In the UK we do have a separate playhouse disney channel so its great:thumbsup2

I have been happy with the change in the line-up of shows. My DD doesn't usually get up until 7:00, so we always missed those two early morning shows anyway. I like that they have more Mickey Mouse Clubhouses on.

I do agree about the commericals for shows that are not appropriate for the younger set don't need to be shown during Playhouse Disney hours. It would be nice if they have another channel dedicated to the Playhouse Disney crowd. They already have ToonDisney, so there isn't much reason why they couldn't do that as well. I would love to see the Koala Brothers, Rollie Pollie Ollie, and Bear in the Big Blue House again.

not sure if your cable is setup the same way but we do have 2 seperate Disney channels and playhouse disney (between the 2 channels) runs all day long. One plays it in the morning then goes to the older cartoons then the other starts playing the same shows that the morning channel had. So they might end up watching the same Handy Manny 2x in a day but they don't mind.

We split their TV between Noggin and Playhouse disney so that we are covered for anytime. (since Noggin is now 24/7)

I hate how they are showing their tween shows so early. Most tweens are in school during the programming. and they did gt rid of a lot of good shows. We loved Bear, and Koala brothers and JoJo. They seem to be showing more and more of the older kids shows and less and less of the preschool shows.

Oh, if we could get Bear again, I would be so unbelievably happy!!!!! When we took ds to Disney when he was 13 months old, we took him to the Playhouse Disney show at MGM (what it was at the time) and it was hosted by Bear. He FELL IN LOVE with Bear, at first sight. When we came home we started recording it on the TiVo -- that was the first TV he watched.

Here's hoping.....

I have 4 kids and the oldest is 14. I have seen my fair share of programming getting changed! It's a PITA cause the kids get used to watching stuff. And they 're showing more tween stuff for sure. I don't even call it tween stuff. All they talk about is kissing/liking whoever etc. Let kids be kids. Some of this c*** is, well C***. Even the 14 yo-boy- said Disney would be rolling over in his grave if he saw what was on tv for the "kids". So insightful and correct!

I was just thinking this this morning. And what really chapped me was they took a break in-between the two episodes of Handy Manny to show commercials for their tween shows. Sorry but my two year old could care less. And the cute little Emily Yeong and the like have been replaced with Wallace and Grommit and Brian O'Brian? What! Where are the Wiggles, JoJo etc etc. I hope they get their act together soon. Like there isn't enough Hannah Montana out there, now we have to watch commercials for her inbetween Mickey and Einsteins??? UG!

I think you might be getting the east coast and the west coast feeds. We have DirectTV. In Washington we can put on one channel and it is the Disney east coast feed, so playhouse starts at 3 in the morning, but the west coast feed starts at 6 in the morning.

So Playhouse is off at noon for us, but for my friend back in Michigan Playhouse is on until 3 in the afternoon, because she switches from the east coast feed to the west coast feed.

Your DH sounds like a very intelligent, wise, and insightful man.

(Hi, honey!)

Here Here!!!!! Wiggles are still on (at 11 or 11:30 T-F [and weekends too I presume -- TiVo takes care of recording them for us so I'm not 100% sure when it is]). However, JoJo, Johnny, and Bunnytown aren't even on the programming guide for the next 2 weeks -- I'm thinking these shows are gone.

I called dh (aka Faldred) Monday morning asking him to look online to find out what the deal is (since I was taking care of the kids at the time and couldn't get to the computer) -- the playhouse disney website (including the parents guide) doesn't make any reference to the programming change. Do they realize how much they are POing the parents of the preschoolers??????

I attempted to send e-mails to Disney today re: this exact same things. WTH with the commericals for Hannah Montana, Drake and Josh and all those other shows? My DD2 looks at me like what the heck is this? Then they got ride of JoJo and put in the Shaun the sheep who my DD couldn't care less about (and I don't even think it is funny OR related to a 2 yr old). Yes, I'm another mom who is PO'D about the changes they made.
