Sort of OT...

I just wanted to inform my DIS friends that I will not be on VMK and the forums for the remainder of this month (or possibly longer). While returning from her college's football game, a good friend and classmate of mine from high school was instantly killed this past week after being hit head-on by a drunk driver, who was speeding in the wrong direction down the interstate. So, for this moment, I must be with her family and friends to help them and myself in the grieving and healing process.

I promise that any potential trades I had established prior to this occurrence will proceed when I return. I am sorry for any inconveniences my absence may cause, but I value the well-being of my friends and Caitlin's family. If you wish to withdraw from any trades, there will be no hurt feelings whatsoever.

And may this serve as a reminder to everyone not to drive or let those you love drive while intoxicated or under the influence.

I am so sorry Briar! My thoughts and prayers are with all of you in this terrible time. If there's anything I can do just pm me if you happen to be on. Not that it matters at the present time, but I will get an extra of everything that comes out until you get back so you don't fall behind in VMK. Thank you everyone for your kind comments and wishes. I truly appreciate it, and I am sure Caitlin's family will too when I let them know. Please continue to keep her in your thoughts.

I've been on VMK for about an hour since I've posted this, trying to message my VMK friends about my upcoming absence. You are all very special to me, and I value each and every friendship I have formed on DIS and VMK. I'd hate to think I may be deleted from someone's list because I've gone on another "hiatus" for too long.

sassymom -- Don't feel obligated in any way to purchase me VMK items when I am away. That was such a generous gesture, and I am very thankful for your help, but I don't want you or anyone else to feel pressured into doing this. I know the ride competitions are approaching, so save your credits. Please don't worry about spending them on me. But, once again, I am astonished by your hospitality. You have a wonderful heart, and I am glad to call you a friend.

I'm so sorry to hear/read this. You all will be in my thoughts in prayers. My family has lost 3 family members thanks to drunk drivers who had no regard for anyone, going back to the early 1960s when my grandfather's brother was killed by one. When my mom's cousin was killed by a drunk driver, the driver was let off the hook, and before long he did it again and killed someone else. It is a terrible, senseless tragedy, and I pray every day that people will wake up and never drink and drive, and that the court systems will deal more strictly with the ones who commit the crime.
