Normally we go to WDW the week after Thanksgiving. We spend all of our time on-site, make no stiff plans and make no PS (or AR). This year we're going from August 14 through the 21st and I planned to do the same thing but I'm now realize how much more crowded it will be and how many more people will be using the restaurants with all of these dining offers. Now I'm thinking that I should make PS, which means I will also have to plan better as to which park we will visit on each day.
Over the years I haven't really paid attention to PS guidelines. If we make PS, then decide not to go, do we need to cancel them within a certain time-frame or risk being charged a penalty? Should I make PS for every night? FYI, I am ordering the DDE card since we have an AP rate and can't get the dining plan.

With the exception for the dinner shows and princess meals, there is no charge or credit card hold for any PSs - they are free to make, you can cancel or just not show up. WHile it's nice to cancel so someone else can get your spot, they won't hunt you down if you just don't show =)

I would make a PS for any night you want a table service meal just in case. You can always change them later, even the day of from your guest services desk at the hotel, and that way you KNOW you have a place to dine that evening =0

If you have a PS and decide to cancel, where do you call from? I saw that a person can use *88 from a Disney phone but I don't know where these phones are located. I wouldn't want to be a jerk and just not show up.
