I am hoping to fly Feb. 26-March 5. When dates are released, if my departure date is released but not my March return date do I have to wait to book round trip or would you book the one way fare just to be sure????
Has this happened to anyone else before??? :confused3

Hi,
Same thing happened to us...Twice,lol

When the departure date opened up, we booked one way flight.
Then waited for the return flight date to open up, and booked the one way flight home.

i'm going to guess that your date range will be included in the next release... but if not, i would book the first leg and then the second... this would also permit you if the fares for the first leg go down (or you get a ding fare) to apply the credit to the return flight...

::sitting waiting for swa to open up beyond 1/9/06!::

The same thing happened to me, departure date was there but one day short of the home leg. I waited til the home leg came on line and then booked.

I then got a great ding rate and was able to cancel the original and use my funds.

since then, I've heard you do not have to cancel. You can just move to the better rate. Haven't tried that yet.

I'm really interested in what you mean by "just move to the lower rate" How do you do that? The cancelling, ticketless funds, rebooking, getting a refund, blah, blah, blah, is really a hassle!

it's not so hard to do anymore... i moved to the lower rate by going to swa's "travel center," click "change reservation," enter the confirmation number and name, and follow the instructions from there (i'd walk you all the way thru it 'cept i do not have my confirm # here to go further, sorry)...

Soooo, does that mean you went ahead and booked the lower rate (ex. a ding fare) before/without cancelling your original booking? After booking the lower rate you went into the travel center and made the change? :confused3

nope, i CHANGED my rate, i did not book/unbook/rebook... i simply changed it under the travel center... once you get thru the confirm # section and such, you will get a screen very similar to that which you see when originally booking... just pick the flight you want and you're off! i'm not 100% certain it works w/ding fares (but i think it does) as i have only done it when the regular "internet special" fares become available!

HTH!
