Sorry! Unique names for a boy.

Between the two, definitely Anakin. I don't like Vader at all. I actually LOVE Luke. Hayden's cute, too.

My son is a HUGE Star Wars fan, I on the other hand am not. That being said I DO like the neme Vader. It is so different. Let me tell you why I don't like Annakin. (Please don't flame me) Kids are and can be mean. Let's just pretend for a moment that he is a sensitive child, likes and enjoys the kinds of things that stereotypically "masculine" boys do not. The first thing I can think of is the "mean kids" will call him "Annie". That will stick and it will stay with him forever. I am raising a sensitive boy so I am in no way making any negative reference to a boy being sensitive. I think it is a wonderful quality and I am proud of my boy. My son's name is Mitchel but most everyone calls him Mitch. The other name I like for a boy or a girl is Kelton. But hey it's your baby so name him what you and your husband want. Whatever his name , I'm sure he will be beautiful. Congrats.

I like Ankin but you have to think the kid better be able to live up to the name...or it just wont work...

I've always told my husband if we have a boy i'm naming him Lucius...but he keeps making harry potter jokes...so its now up for debate...

on a side note: Someone told me if you question what to name your child...go into a bar (restaurant) and introduce yourself with whatever name you plan on ....to see how other people react..

I don't have kids yet (Dfi and I are hoping in a few years after we are married!!!) I personally love original names and between the two I would pick Anakin...........but here are a few of my favorite boy names ....
Brooklyn; Maxamillion; Atticus; Nero; Cash; Riley;Fisher; Logan; Dallas ......(but recently I have fallen in love with the name Jack ...hmm wonder why?)

I almost forgot a cute one, my hubby's boss just named his little guy Nash :goodvibes
Cant think of the middle name at the moment but I think its cute :thumbsup2
Makes me think of that Don Johnson show a few years back, Nash Bridges :)

Personally, I love the name Anakin and I don't think of it as being evil or negative...Vader is a little more out there...MAYBE as a middle name (because later in life you usually ony need to use your middle initial, not full name). It definitely seems dark and evil.

I have definitely heard of worse names.

People are named after movies, TV shows, stars all the time! We named our daughter Lorelei and call her Rory (form the Gilmore Girls, but they spell it Lorelai). I like the show, but we picked the name becasue we liked the name, not because we are die hard Gilmore Girls fans. It is a real/existing name, but not so common...she is the only one we know personally.

I think if I ever have a boy I want to name him Karsten. I'm sure he'll spend a lot of time saying, "no, not Carson." And pooksma, I LOVE the name Declan too! I know a Declan and have loved his name since first I heard it.

Good luck in choosing a name.

Ok, it has to be said, again...not Vader. You might name your dog Vader, but not your kid, remember the playground!

What about Sky Walker...Sky...... Sky W. Lastname..... Kaylee and Sky.

My sons names are:

Noah Anthony
Jared Thomas
Gavin Paul
Mason Hoyt

I love different names too. I do not really have any sugesstion. For me the boy names were so much harder to pick then my girls! Don't know if that is with everybody or just my problem.

Congrats and good luck.... :cheer2:

I like Anakin but he will probably get called Annie. But so what. Boys get called much worse.

I like Vader for a middle name, but it means Father.

So many boys are named Lucas right now - it's pretty common.

I have girls, but if they were boys they would be Desmond and Declan.

Good luck!

I love the name Anakin! :thumbsup2 I don't really care for star wars, I just like the name. I suggested it when we were pregnant but Dh (who is a star wars fan) nixed it. He said, "No way, everyone would call him Vader".

I have to say that I would not name my son Vader. Its a cool name for a pet but not a child. JMHO :)

Being the big Star Wars fan that DH is, he was all set to name our first child something Star Wars-ish. He was totally intent on naming our son Anakin. Fortunately, our DD and DS are foster kids and already had names! Now that I've had time to think about it, I really do like the name Anakin. It wouldn't be my first choice, but would definitely consider it. Vader, NO WAY. Some other Star Wars-y names: Mace (Mace Windu), Luke, Harrison (which is what I wanted to name any future DS). Other names I like:

Xander (DS' nickname)
Camden
Rowan
Roman
Avery
Aiden
Xavier
Cooper
Carter
Cash
Tevan
Brenton

Thanks! We first heard it watching the movie "The Jackal" with Bruce Willis and Richard Gere. Then again for a famous music producer here on the East Coast.

My boys are Gabriel Joseph (Gabe for short) and Matthew Conner... I too like distinct names that aren't overused. I also had the "teacher" problem b/c I had taught school for 3 years by the time Gabe came along. My DH would say a name and it would remind me of some kid in a class that had been such a pain (I taught HS English). By the time Matt came along it was even worse! Anyway, definitely consider the nick-names and any connotations that come with the name. Also consider where the name is currently being used. Although there aren't many Anakins out there to your knowledge now, who knows by the time yours gets to school. I've had classes of 30 kids and 4 or 5 of the same name in a class... makes it difficult on both ends. My husband names Gabe and Joseph was my fathers name. As for Matt, I wanted Tyler but a friend of mine at school had his son first and that's what they used... Anyway, I decided to continue the Biblical names and never had a Matt I didn't like... Conner is Irish like my great - grandparents. I also like Cole, Lucas, Dawson, Colby, Brett, and Brendan. I also like Anakin better than Vader, but that's the teacher in me. Good luck and enjoy your new baby!

I like Anakin, but if we were to have another boy, my son would be very jealous. Anakin is his fave character and he would wonder why we didn't name him that. :rotfl2: But he already has a pretty cool name, GAGE.

We like unusual names too..we have a Quinton Michael and a Garrett Thomas...Good Luck :thumbsup2

I think going the Hayden/Luke/Harrison route will be better.

The SS website is really a wonderful resource.

I personally vote for Griffin (from the tv show Party of Five, not really). :teeth:

My son's friend is named Dalton Storm and all his friends call him Storm and they all love the name. My cousin on the otherhand has 3 sons, their names are Hunter, Pfisher, and Gunner. The boys were named after his 3 favorite hobbies, hunting, fishing and guns.

honestly i don't like either name.

i know many Dakota Girls around here. Some young and some older like 10-15 age. i think we know about 6 or 7. One is a boy. Very popular over here. you also here it a lot at Drs offices :) that's where i always listen for names!

Our DS is Gabriel Xavier and DD is Autumn Verona.
