Sorry to bring up again, but does anyone feel like me? How do I get past this?

How can we, be accused of rubbing your noses in our winning, when you are rubbing our noses in your loss?

*(We in the general sense of Republicans. You in the general sense of Democrats.)

How is starting a thread to express her feeling of loss "rubbing your nose in it"? You didn't have to read this thread. I can't imagine any Kerry supporter would go onto a Bush supporter celebration thread and moan about Kerry's loss... if they did I would certainly understand how other posters to that thread might respond to it. What I'm saying is why was it necessary to post to this thread only to taunt the OP for her feeling of loss?

Hey, your guy won! I'd think that itself would make you feel happy. Why is it that some still feel the need to make others feel worse? Does it make you feel good to do so?

And then there is that other saying; "Time wounds all heels". I won't expand on that, but those in "mourning" may want to take time to reflect. I allowed 24 hours but alas, that is all I could spare. ;)

Quite honestly, I'm not frightened by anything you might have to offer. I don't seek to "take on" anyone but will not hold back when provoked. Although I may try to remember to not engage in a battle of wits with one who is unarmed... in your case I may make an exception. ;)

apparently it does. And how pathetic is that?

You're wasting your effort, Lisa! Time does wound all heels, let's wait and see! In the meantime, I'll see you on the "other side".

Wow, talk about attacking!! The smiley face does nothing to diminish the vitriol you are spewing right now.

I have avoided commenting on the political threads, but have read almost all of them and LisaZoe, I find that you are really not a nice person in these threads.

You are certainly welcome to express your point of view. Do you feel the same of DawnCT and her comments with the same little "smiley"?

Until this post (and possibly some comments on the Kerry supporters thread) can you be specific about anything I may have said to give you this impression? I think of myself as a kind person but I won't allow others to trample over me or attack others who do not seem to have done anything to warrant such an attack. When I have on 2 occasions overstepped the bounds I set for myself, I apologized to the 2 posters publicly. Truly, I'm not trying to argue with you, I want to know what may have lead to such an impression. I won't say I'll try to change your impression but I would like to know how you arrived at it.

You ARE kidding, right. Lisa is so careful of others feelings she's nearly a saint compared to many of the posters she answers. What color is the sun in your world?

I find LisaZoe to be one of the nicest and most fair people on this board.

empathy is what is missing from sociopaths. So someone who could momentarily empathise is not the one going bonkers.

If however someone has given up their day job to make plans, yes, they definitely need to seek help. Laughing as i type this at the ridiculousness of this thread.

No problem. I know how hard it is sometimes to keep track of which poster made which comment... especially in a thread that goes on for pages. :)

Whoops, almost wasn't sure to what you were referring. It was the comment about the suicide bombers, right? If so, I agree.

I know this is way too late on this thread since the subject matter has changed but I am going to answer the original question anyay:

12 years ago when Clinton was first elected I thought the world was going to end - it was the worst thing that could have ever happened to this country. I was so depressed and upset over the election. Then I called my Dad. He is a democrat but gave me some words of wisdom. He told me that it's not the end of the world. Presidents will come and presidents will go, some you'll agree with and some you won't. But the country and the system is bigger and stronger than any one man. He was right and he is still right. The country and the system is bigger and stronger than any one man. Everything will be fine and in four years we will do this all over again. Watch a good movie, hug your kids, plan your trip to wdw, forget about the stupid election for a few days. Life goes on and at the end of the day we are all Americans.

Good post !

Once the OP said she understood how suicide bombers felt, my sympathy for her went out the door. Feelings like that don't require sympathy, they require professional help. That was my advice.

I am not known for putting my thoughts into writing and doing it well. I just don't, so I am able to see when another person has the same "handicap".

I think that whomever made the post about understanding how suicide bombers felt didn't mean that she/he admires them or even that she/he wants to be one.

She/he seems to be feeling despair and is relating that to the way that she/he thinks that suicide bombers may feel....that they have no hope due to their circumstances.

dmadman43, she needs sympathy not ridicule, anger and/or isolation.
This world is severely lacking in the compassion department and I believe that will lead, perhaps indirectly, to its demise.

Yes, it was YOUR mistake. So now then, what was your excuse for not being able to empathize with the OP?????

Ya know, you guys are just truly pathetic and juvenile and I'm embarrassed for you. An extremely decent person came here looking for some comfort and you turn it into an opportunity to condemn democrats. Why?

To those who offered genuine advice and consolation, I thank you for being decent human beings. To the others.....what goes around comes around. I hope this thread gets closed.

Babar--I'm sorry this turned so nasty.:( :grouphug: You know where you can go.

DawnCt--you indeed have managed to remove all doubt

Being a bit presumptious here... but I'm pretty sure TimeforMe would be OK if I expanded that to say:

You know where you can go to talk with those who understand. ;)

I am so pleased that my candidate won. I think he is an honorable man who can see Right from Wrong. I am just thrilled that we have George W. Bush in office again for 4 years!

That said, considering the heightened emotions that have been displayed on these threads for the past months, it is NORMAL to also feel some sense of celebration that not only did Bush win, his supporters WON, but that Kerry lost and YOU lost.

Excuse me for being human. I think, again, with the comparisons of Bush and his administration to Nazis and Islamofascists, the continuous references to koolaid, etc., and other types of propaganda and even agitprop, gloating is a response that would fall within normal limits of behavior. By the way, it's only because of these examples that I feel this way.

I think, and of course the Left will disagree, that the Democratic campaign was so dirty, vitriolic, and extreme, that the feeling that you got what's coming to you is impossible NOT to have.

LisaZoe, specifically, I didn't quote you, and your post is not showing up on this thread, but I am finding some of your posts to be quite hypocritical. You said this:
You have every right to defend yourself in such an event. If the OP had directed a comment at the poster who made the "tissue" comment, then I'd consider it to be a mutual confrontation and leave it alone. Again, if the OP had started a thread making such a comment, I'd feel it was "hands off". I've seen enough such threads from both sides and usually avoid them. I missed the "suicide bomber" post so cannot comment on it - but probably would not comment if another poster had ridiculed such a statement.
But, you didn't leave my comment alone. You felt the need to come in there and express yourself. Why would you suggest I leave a certain comment alone, but you don't follow that example yourself?

You said this:
The haiku thread was all in fun... as much as it could be when it involved politics. Did I attack you or any DIS user by name in a haiku? If I did, then it would be understandable if you took it personally. Until I get personal, you should not take things personally.
I'm not taking anything personally. I find your comments incredulous! I laughed at that list that was made where I was listed under dmadman. You can see from our responses. . . we all laughed at it. However, after that, Laurajean makes some silly comment, and 10 or so of you come on here to disparage her character because of it! Unbelievable hypocrisy on your (in general) part! Geesh! You don't see it? Plus, you still okay the suicide bombing comment, but still find the get a tissue comment completely in poor taste!? You know what? Go. . .get a tissue! That comment is by far one of the most mild comments I've ever read on this board! How can you guys look in the mirror!?

it takes so much of the shine off the win, I'd think.
Not really. It would be much nicer if you were all much better losers than you are, then i wouldn't feel the way I feel. But, considering the posts I've read here over the past months, well, yeah, I guess I shamefully feel a bit of joy at the distress you feel. Had the Democratic party been a little less hateful during the campaign, a little less fringe and extreme, toned down the rhetoric just a bit, well, I wouldn't feel this way at all.
