Sorry...need to vent...FINISHED

I agree and if a family uses the DDP like we do you end up saving a significant amount of money. DW and I went to a BYOB about a month ago that had maybe 30-35 tables. Filled to the gils. Luckily we had a gift certificate because the cheapest entree' was $20 and most were prices $25-35.

Also, a martini or some other drink like that in Center City Philly is $10-12! If my memory serves me, a Grey Goose Slushy is not $12!!

Even though prices in the World are higher they are not ridiculous and the quality is better than a lot of chain restaurants in our area.

I actually think that most TS restaurants in WDW are reasonably priced. I think that our local Six Flags has worse prices.

Oh my goodness, suggesting that Disney might NOT be perfect??

I can see OP's point. I, too, was appalled when CRT went from a character meal to an "experience," with photo packages, surprise gifts, that Disney threw in to justify the price increase- it's $47/$31 for breakfast. Yes, I know it's a meal in the Castle and expect to pay more, but honestly, couldn't they have just left it at a meal? It was already expensive, amazing, and rushed, but so cool to meet the Fairy Godmother downstairs, then Cindy, Prince Charming, and other princesses upstairs (put the yellow ball gown on Belle, please!). I GET that it's the castle, I GET that it's a theme park, I GET that you are a captive audience choosing to do this, but REALLY!!!

(Don't get me started on BBB! Talk about cha-ching for Disney!!)

I agree. I just know going in the food cost is going to be high, and we are lucky enough to be able to afford our choices. I know we can always make a different choice to eat TS or not.

One things that bugs me is that I would like the portions of the food to be smaller and the price to be dropped to match the smaller portions. At TS places the amount of food seems too much. I know we can share meals, but since I have a shellfish allergy my DS and I often are eating different things.

By biggest issue with Disney is there seem to be only a handful of the many restaurants on the property that still seem to be of good quality. Just read the many threads and trip reports of complaints about the food. For the prices Disney charges, the food should be of a higher quality. I understand that Disney is in the business to make money, but how many of these places would still be open in the real world?

My vent is over. ;)

I COMPLETELY AGREE!!! Disney food quality as taken a dive over the years and the food prices are:eek:

I have no problem paying more for meals because of the Disney factor but really $50 for hot dogs and a drink. Really!!!!

I agree that CRT is too expensive. But it is up to me, not Disney, to manage my child's expectations. If I let my daughter know that I am disappointed that I can't give her the experience, then she will be disappointed. If I don't, then she won't. I can also begin teaching her about the value of money, something too few kids learn. I can afford CRT, I just won't - it's not a value. It's too expensive for what you get. That's a lesson I can teach her.

At the time, I couldn't send my daughter to France with her classmates for a school trip in high school. But was that the school's fault? The airline's fault? No, the cost was what it cost. I couldn't afford it. Were we disappointed? Sure. But how could I say, "Why doesn't Air France have an affordable trip?" Her friends' families took expensive vacations; we visited family. That's just the way it goes.

Disney is magical. It's not cheap.

And this, by the way, is the result of the much-vaunted, much-loved Disney Dining Plan. To make money off this big "value", they have to make cheaper dishes that appeal to many more people, those who would never set foot in Narcoosee's or Boma if not for the TS credits.

You still want good quality, try the restaurants that aren't part of the meal plan. You'll have a better chance there.

Like others, I have been to other places where the food was not near as good and paid the same if not more.
And as another poster stated, if there was some place that was a "bargain" or just less inexpensive, it would be like CRT use to be to get an ADR, or like Le Cellier is now. Then more complaints would roll in.
Unfortunately it is just a fact of life. Prices continually rise everywhere for everything. And some can afford it, where some cannot.
That would be like saying (fill in the blank) should be cheap(er) because no one should be left out.
I think the pizza place will have ridiculous prices. But I also bet they will be busy. However I am sure the pizza would not be comparable to a Little Caesars or Pizza Hut.

to justify the price increase

They don't have to justify anything. It's their park, their restaurant, their decision. They are not forcing you to eat there.
Don't wanna pay $30 for a hot dog, it's easy, don't go to CRT. There are thousands of kids who have magical vacations that don't include that restaurant.
As long as people keep paying those high prices Disney will keep on charging them, it'd be foolish not to.

I have to say... I've found the prices to be rather affordable and we ate really cheaply. For two adults, we were able to spend less than $20 for breakfast and dinner to feed both of us. Children's waffles for breakfast and children's chicken fingers for lunch. Took the bottle of water that came with the meal to the park. One orders a soda since they refill for free at the table service restaurant, and often, no special drinks, and we split an appetizer at dinner. I've lived in New York, Philadelphia, and Minneapolis and have found Disney to be no more expensive than any other restaurant and if anything we've commented on how affordable it is compared to other trips and restaurants. No additional cost to travel from the airport to hotel, or around WDW, and all the entertainment we want is included in the admission ticket.
I have to agree, I don't think the food makes the trip and I think that if you can't afford a certain vacation, then you don't take it. Hence why I'm not planning any long trips to Paris anytime soon.
