For the first time in 10 years we won't be going to WDW because I am getting a new KITCHEN!!!!!! :cool1:  :cheer2: My dh said yes to the new kitchen but we would have to use our WDW money for this year. I will miss the trip but my kitchen has not been renovated in over 30 years. I am talking it is harvest gold :scared1: Please say HI :wave2: to Mickey and the gang for me !!!

hey who ever thought orange washers would be instyle...

i had a aqua kitchen once, stove included. how in the world old was that thing... :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I am getting a new kitchen too :thumbsup2

I didn't have to give up Mickey to get it though.

I had to give up Minnie...... an Austin Mini that is. :rotfl2:

I was supposed to get an Austin Mini for Christmas from Santa but I decided that a new kitchen would be in order right now and the Mini will have to be put off again.

I have wanted a Mini for a long time and I always said that I could have a Mini if I could just give up Minnie (Mouse) :lmao:

My kitchen is almost 30 years old too.

I'm curious. How much is the new kitchen? We are getting a new kitchen too and it is going to cost a little over $40,000. That is a lot more then we pay for our Disney trips! How much are your trips?

What is included in your new kitchen?

Cabinets, countertops, appliances, flooring?

It really makes a huge difference in price depending on the quality of things you put into it. We don't want to put a lot of money into this kitchen because we are unsure of how long we will be staying here to use it. We wanted something that will look nice but not cost us a fortune.

Our new kitchen is costing us just under $10,000.00 (Canadian) which equates to about 8,600.00 US$. That includes maple cabinets and a laminate countertop only. That is an installed price.

Recently we purchased new appliances for about 6,000 CDN (5200.00 US). We are replacing the flooring and I don't have a cost on that yet but we are putting in WilsonArt laminate flooring.

That doesn't include new lighting or a new sink and faucet.

So I suppose if I add up the total it will probably come to 18,000 Cdn or so :confused3

Congratulations everyone on your new Kitchens.!! :thumbsup2 I can hardly wait until I can get a new kitchen.

We are getting cherry cabinets, granite counters, sub zero fridge, 6 burner cooktop, hardwood floors, double ovens and everything else. A total kitchen Even if we did what you are doing we could never touch that for your price. Too expensive around these parts! I am partial to maple cabinets but DH wants cherry. They are made by Kraft Maid.

It sounds like you are getting a better quality kitchen than we are. Those granite counters are expensive. Lots of good things included in your price too.

We just bought a Maytag, glass top, 5 burner, convection oven, an over the range microwave (Maytag) and in the last year we got a new bottom freezer Maytag refrigerator.

All of our cabinets are being custom built by a local cabinetry company.

I'd love to see pictures of your kitchen when it is done. When are you having it installed?

Oh yes and my new kitchen is a heck of a lot more money than I pay for any of my Disney vacations too ;)

Looks like the year for new kitchens!! We're in the process of having ours redone, tore out a wall to make it much bigger, thank goodness. Only bad part, no kitchen right now and our cabinets were wrong, had to be sent back, not ready for another MONTH. Yikes, now what?? Had to partially put back old cabinets and stove and sink just to get by. Hope y'all have a better time of it than we have so far!! :teeth:

Oh no, that doesn't sound like fun at all.

Lots of paper plates and eating out, that's the solution for that problem ;)

Yep, Cruisin, that would be perfect except we live in a small town with honestly 5 decent places to eat and three of them are fast food places. Sick to death of it already!! Never thought I'd hear myself say, I want to cook dinner tonight  .

We are also tearing down a wall. I am taking out our dining room and making it into a large country kitchen combining with the old kitchen. We haven't started yet. Just got the design part finished. We expect to be without a stove and kitched sink for at least 2 months. Lots of eating out!

Well we are lucky when it comes to the cost of the kitchen because my Uncle works for a cabinet company and my Aunt is an Interior Designer . So we are getting alot of the items at their cost such as cabinets, countertops, flooring etc. The biggest savings is my brother he is a Contractor and we only have to pay labor cost. :teeth:

Nice!! The only thing we are getting at cost is the granite countertops. We are getting premium granite for almost half off. Wish we had family in other areas!

Am I the only one who finds this statement depressing?
Are we still living in the 1950s?

Why? My DH and I are a couple and kind of do the same thing. He told me last night he wanted a set of Ping golf clubs. Wow! They are pricey to say the least! Anyway he ASKED me if I would mind if he got them. I said go for it. He then called up a buddy and here is his exact words: Hey John, the wife is letting me get a set of Pings, How cool is that!" LOL! Mind you, I bring in no money into this house. I have been a SAHM now for 17 years. He is the money maker around here. He also had the respect to ask me if it was okay. I tell everyone about my new kitchen and say that DH is finally letting me get that kitchen! We aren't talking about a new sofa. A kitchen is a major expense. To us it is anyway. So while he could have gotten the clubs without my "approval", he didn't. And for THAT I love him all the more.
