Sorry,Just not impressed with Bonnet Creek

We're here right now in building 4. This is the first time we've stayed off-site, we usually stay in a deluxe or CSR and we are VERY pleased with it so far except for the sales pitches. Our a/c doesn't have a motion sensor but does have a door sensor...if the balcony door isn't closed ALL the way the unit cuts off which is entirely sensible. We got here late Sunday night and all the staff greeted us warmly and bell services topped any experience we've had on Disney property. The condition of the room is WAY better than I was expecting, it looks practically brand new. I also love the fact that the buses are on a schedule, if it says they leave at 10 am don't arrive at 10:01....I love structure. :lmao: I guess my only complaint is with the showerhead....next time I'm bringing my pipe wrench and temp replacement.

i called to replace my shower and the A/C needed fixing also...now i have an ant infestation in the bathroom my kids use...3 straight days of maintenance.
It looks practically brand new b/c this hotel is fairly new so it should be in good shape. If your in tower four come up to the 13th floor and tell me the hallways arent warm...shouldnt be that way in a florida hotel in the summer

With the exception of the body snatchers at the "parking permit" desk, we found all of the staff to be friendly and very helpful.

:rotfl2:

I knew about the parking thing in advance and figured that was the "price you pay" for getting the ridiculously great value that is BC. I wish I could have been more rational about it, but it just really turned me off. Such a yucky buzz-killing way to start a week of "magic."

also you cant really compare this to CSR or the deluxe resorts its apples and oranges...you need to compare it to the DVC villas...glad your enjoying your stay though.

That's hilarious, wish I had thought of that! I just said "no thank you" over and over and "I don't wish to share that information" which made her really, really angry! Lesson learned.

it was either that or tell em i lost my job one of the two...lol

The Parking Pass Tango is the one thing I cannot stand about the Wyndham resorts. My preferred line is now: "I'd just be wasting your time."

Sorry you had such an unpleasant experience. We are DVC members as well and I would NEVER stay anyplace else. MY dh and I took a week and went to Disney (without the kids) and stayed ay the Grand Floridian. This was something that was on my bucket list and I was so excited to be able to stay there, I had been wanting to do this since they opened. Needless to say, we did not enjoy it. Yes, the building and landscape is beautiful. But, it is just like any other hotel. When we stay with DVC we have space and absolutely love each trip. When we reflect on the GF, we just laugh and say, we will never do it again. DH swears that DVC has spoiled him and he holds every hotel to that standard.

Will also add that we took my MIL and stayed at Animal Kingdom, she said it was the best room she ever stayed in and whatever we pd for our membership, it is definitely worth it.

No worries, more room for me!

Ditto. Me too! DVC member and Wyndham points owner who loves having the option of booking Wyndham Bonnet Creek for Disneyworld trips. Husband actually likes it better because of bigger dining room space and full cable TV.

Sorry if I left the impression I was comparing the two, I was just letting everyone know where we had stayed in the past so they would know what we were used to. The only DVC villas we have stayed at are the BC and OKW.

I am always confused when somebody posts about "Bonnet Creek" without further information. There are four hotels in "Bonnet Creek" so I often want to know which one they are talking about! For instance, I love Hilton Orlando Bonnet Creek. :cool2:

It's not that its unpleasant it's just that its a let down, we're still having a good time..my kids actually like the place. Disney is just better in my opinion...I didnt like GF either but I love the polynesian...OKW is my favorite and like u did it in may without kids and it was one of our best trips. It is what it is...still beats working..lol

Maybe your problem is bringing the kids? lol... :confused3 Just kidding here. I really can't see how any place on Disney could be better when you have all that extra room at WBC. I can't really talk though since we haven't been there yet but we booked our first stay at WBC for next May (only our second time to Disney). I'm actually looking forward to not getting talked to by ALL the workers of the resort... it gets annoying having to say hi to everyone (i think at least).

Thanx for the kind words

Your more then welcome :thumbsup2

I always appreciate reviews also, whether they are good or bad. I have also learned that if you search hard enough there is major build up on these threads of every resort or hotel, which always leads to disappointment. I learned that the hard way last year when we decided to spend a little less and stay 4 nights at the Pop because the threads really made it sound wonderful. We were still only in our rooms to shower and sleep and I still hated it. I swear it felt like I could hear the people outside the room and next door breathing. Super thin walls and super crappy beds and pillows and this comes from someone who is not a hotel snob. You wouldn't have thought that from the Pop century threads though. Lesson learned. I also find it amusing how upset people get when you say one negative thing about anything as if they all own stock in Disney.

We use some variation on "we already have more vacation options than we have time to use," which is the truth, alas. "Nah, I have friends who rent me points for less than their yearly fees" works well, too. ;) Although personally I think that when they get "really, really angry," that says more about where they're at than anything you may have said, so these replies could have failed just as badly with that person. :confused3

I have also learned that if you search hard enough there is major build up on these threads of every resort or hotel, which always leads to disappointment.

Same is true of Trip Advisor -- I first noticed the "It's Disney, so it's gotta be good" approach there, reading a four star review that was a long litany of problems and outright nastiness, where the author still argued that it was "a great stay, worth every penny." :upsidedow

I think it works best if you ignore the "good" or "bad" part and focus on the specifics. I've also noticed. that "big" kind of stuff is not specific enough. Because people are always raving at how "big" DVC units are, which puzzled me when I looked at the square footage. :p Compared to a Disney hotel room, or most hotel rooms, sure they're big; compared to other Timeshares we've stayed in, not so much. ;)

Stuff like "the AC shuts off if there's no one in the room" or "the parking pass routine drives me nuts" or "staff doesn't make eye contact" or "I get tired of having to say 'hi" to all these people" are what I look for. I can make up my own mind about whether those things are good or bad. :thumbsup2

can definitely understand your complaints they are some of mind.

also did not like the big build up here - wyndham used inferior stuff not superior - so don't make complaints that is so great.

anyway - I am allergic to tobacco - any kind - so yes would be coughing if you or anyone smokes around me.

had to get some smokers to move at Disney (where is a CM when you need one - probably off smoking) - anyway they were smoking in a non-smoking place and getting me sick.

if I get sick enough have to go visit the hospital.

anyway they finally agreed to move when they realized that i was serious and after they left was applauded by the guest around me.

so can guess the pressure your smoking places on you.

now the place that I love at Disney BLT has worst furnishing than WBC - but at least it is know.

that say would look at both Hilton and Marriott for your next trip - especially if you have a timeshare

Can definitely appreciate your review!

For us, as a family of five BC is great. Love the location, the pools, the grounds which are beautiful, the space and most of all the price!

We have been able to stay a couple times for roughly $100 a night including all taxes. Really cannot beat that for five people being that close to the parks with multiple bathrooms, tvs, full kitchen, etc..

I think every resort has its pros and cons. For me at BC a con would be that they are high rise buildings. I prefer walking out my door to the outside but that is a small thing and doesn't dissuade me from staying there.

Hoping to be back in April.

Enjoy your vacation.
