I am helping to plan a girls only 3 day weekend to Disneyland in July. I have been to Disneyworld 8+ times but never to Disneyland so I don't know where to start looking for discounts. We are wanting to stay at Paradise Pier or Disneyland Resort and we will only get to stay 2 days in the parks, so where can we find discounts? What about the meal plan, is it worth it and what is included. Thanks for your help.

You're not going to find many "deals" on a summer weekend, but you'll find alot of info here.

- "only 2 days in the parks". Why not 3? A 3 day parkhopper is just a little more than a 2 day. (& you're staying on site...easy to visit for "part of" a day.)

- The dining plan IS NOT like WDW. Don't bother. (read the dining sticky at the top of the DL board page for other info.)

- Know all about Magic Morning.

- Realize just how different DLR is to WDW.

- read the most of the tip threads in this link, starting with the first two:

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=1520483

- read most of the other sticky's (like MaryJo's) at the top of the DL page.

- know going in that the castle is small....real small....like you won't see it from the entrance small....but it is charming & the original (& way better than the McMansion in Orlando ;)).

- Have a great time planning a visit to Walt's Park. :thumbsup2

I found the best discount for on site hotel to be to call that hotel direct and book like any other hotel room..using a AAA discount. At the time of booking they also added tickets at the website discounted price. There are some other AAA discounts for eating and such, and DVC as well

Since you're looking for deals I would really encourage you to consider staying offsite. You will spend about 1/3 of what you would pay for an onsite hotel. And in many cases will have a shorter walk to the entrance for the offsite hotels.

Dining plan at DL really us just prepaid monetary vouchers, it is not for a meal per se, just x amount of dollars. Not like the dining plan at WDW at all. It is not worth it unless you really want to have things prepaid.
