Sorry Gaston, They are MUCH More Interesting Than You!*6/8* NEW Trip Report Link p154

Oh, Mary Ellen...! I am so sorry to hear about your struggles right now, but what is meant to happen will happen. I will be crossing my fingers and toes for great things to come along for you!!! ::yes::

As for your trip being cancelled, my sadness is also a little selfish because I was looking forward to possibly meeting you!! Maybe the stars will align and something will work out for you to go before your next trip.

@Poolrat....thanks for posting the crayon pics!!! HAHA :lmao::lmao::lmao: I knew it was you that originally posted about those. I can't wait to look for them in the queue!

@Cynthia...I had that "last day" feeling. I always tear up!! I'm so DISpoiled...:upsidedow

Great updates! It will be bittersweet to read more...I hate last days and unmagical expresses!!! :(

I'm so sorry to hear that things have been so stressful for you lately!!! That's wonderful that the college decision has been made, it sounds like a great choice!! :thumbsup2

I hope the job situation is resolved soon, and you find something you enjoy!!

Stringbean? Are you ready????

Awww thanks for posting that!!! :goodvibes It feels like it's coming up SO fast!!!

Finally all caught up. Sorry your trip to Hilton Head sucked so much Mary Ellen but glad to hear it wasn't even worse.

Love the sunset photos on the way to the studios.

I think I may have missed some news along the way, which college did Nick pick?

Just keeping up Mary Ellen !! I have not been on the Dis much as I have felt sooo rotten but I think I am on the mend with the help of lots of med s!!!

Cynthia, Thanks for that flashback ;) ... I haven't been to the Country Bear Jamboree in forever... Disney Classic...:thumbsup2

Mary Ellen, Oh MY... not sure where to start...

Super Congrats on Nick choosing his college... Delaware is a great school & (hurray for the in state tuition...:cheer2: ... not to mention the relief in just having the decision all made...:thumbsup2)

Wow though on the rest of the stuff you're dealing with... That's a whole lot of stuff... parents, sibs, and the job situ... I really wish I could right something eloquent right now to make you feel better but it's been a long day and I'm feeling a bit off... but I am sending lots of good thoughts, wishes and prayers down your way... and another great big hug as well...

Maybe a walk and some lovely flowers will make you feel a little better...;) That trip to Longwood is right around the corner...

I can't believe you looked that great during your run! I would have looked like a hot mess!

FYI- they cancelled all of the segway tours!! They are no longer:sad: I really wanted to try one one day too!!

I probably sound like more of a parade hater than I am, that one just never did anything for me and it feels like it has been the same forever...

:thumbsup2
Did I read somewhere there might be a new parade coming in 2014??? :confused3 If so, we both might get our wish!!! :cool1:

As for the Segway tours I heard they have discontinued those. (and MEK confirmed below it seems) :sad1:

We are a bit of a challenge, aren't we?
Yes, but I think I was warned about that going in........... :rolleyes2

They definitely do make it easy to draw the characters. My drawing never looks like theirs, but the resemblance is always there. :thumbsup2
They have to make it easy if MY drawing is to have a resemblance! ::yes::

The cardiologist looked at Denny's study and was really happy with the result of his stent. That is making Denny seem a lot more relaxed.
Great News!!! :thumbsup2

A truck? Now you are comparing Bo to a TRUCK????? For shame! :rotfl:
At least it wasn't a Wrecker.......... :rotfl2: :duck:

Maybe I'm not running hard enough. :rotfl2:
You need to work on that Missy!!! ;)

Well, according to the experts they have stopped the segway tours. How sad. They really were fun. Expensive, but fun!
Well crud! Guess I waited too long!!! :(

I still have mine too!!!
Next DISMeet you'll all have to wear them! ::yes::

Cynthia - thanks for the Country Bears pics and the words to the songs - I love the bears - havent seen them for years though as they aren't at DL anymore and my family weren't keen when we went to WDW :confused3

I love Big Al and have 2 of them sitting on my bed at home along with Sully - I know weird eh:rolleyes1 There's something about big, chubby, hairy beasts

How can you not love Big Al! :thumbsup2

I have so much catching up to do...

Cynthia: I love your trip wish list - especially the waffle sandwich. I can finally say that I tried one for the first time last summer. Oh so good!

They sounded SO yummy!

Country Bear Jamboree - what great memories your photo tour brought back! For DL when they converted the attraction to the Winnie the Pooh ride they kept the heads for Melvin, Buff, and Max on the back of the wall of the last room before the ride concludes. It so cool how they preserve something of the original attraction when they re-engineer.

Next time I get to DL I will have to check that out, that is SO cool!

So you are saying that you don't Twist and Shout during the Celebrate It parade! I just like the song at the end (Time of your Life) since it was the parade song from our Grand Marshal gig. Sentimental for sure!

Well I do like that song, I'm just over the parade itself!

You look lovely in your orange top! So befitting the pumpkin themed photo at MK!

Dumb luck, not planned at all but I was awfully happy with the picture I must admit.

I'm here! (Better late than never!) :snail:

Thank Goodness you have post links; I'm diving in right now!!

Kathy

Kathy! :welcome:

So happy to have you here :cool1::

Thanks for providing the lyrics!

I wouldn't propose changing the lyrics one iota. I think the animatronics could be improved though to make the movements look more lifelike. You know, more like how singing bears really look. ;)

:lmao:

you know, more like how singing bears really look.

okay....

I wouldn't change the lyrics either.

another day caught up on. I will def be trying Le Frous Brew and I so want those B&B pillows but they'll take up a lot of luggage space so will have to take less clothes!

Or buy a duffle bag once there...:thumbsup2

I'd def like to stay at WL one day and am a big Poly fan so lovely to see your photos.

I love the grounds at both of them, just lovely and the Poly has some pretty great food that's for sure. I"m very glad we pool hopped there.

I've never done the tikki room, might have to try that next trip but I do have a soft spot for COP.

I liked the new management version better but I do still like it overall even if I am in the minority.

I'm finally caught up!

And you didn't even know I was here. ;)

eandesmom, I'm lovin' your part of this report as well as MEK's! Sounds like you had a lovely time together.

TK! :welcome: nope, didn't know you were here so thanks for delurking my friend!

We had a lovely lovely time

No hijack! Seriously. I know what you guys are going through. Been there. Done that! Not going back!

O
M
G

She heard from Vanderbilt finally after the college ID camp, got a great eval.

They want to see her again

I still have my feet and my gloves AND my wig! :rotfl2: I just couldn't part with them. I'm sure I will never use them again, but I'm not ready to part with them.

I left out the other parts but I still have all of it as well.

Cynthia - I'm so with you on CBJ! The first time I had seen it was at Disneyland as a little girl and had watched it up until they took it out in 2001. In fact, I missed it in 2001 by a few days because we were there during 9/11 and it had closed a few days before :sad2: But when I found out it was still at WDW I was extremely happy. A dated, but great show

I missed in in 2001 for that very same reason, we were there about a month after 9/11.

Whew! Took me the entire day (off and on) but I did it! I read the entire report!

This is making me so excited for my Sisters-Only trip in October -- adult trips are definitely special!

Cynthia, I'm on pins and needles to see which t-shirts make it into your shopping bag!

Kathy

More than one did that's for sure :rotfl:

I have been under the weather the past week and not dissing too much. Finally made a Doctor appointment for tomorrow . I am not taking any risks with not getting theis taken care of before my cruise !!

I'm glad you are getting checked out Rosie, it's always a good idea before a trip!

Loving the updates!
I am not a fan of the Country bears, but Skip loves them. He loves that blood in a bucket song. It's the one thing he most remembers from his childhood trip. He now takes Claire in it when we go. I have seen int once or twice and no need for me to rush back.
I do like that it is still there and a classic though. I think some of the bears recently got a makeover, which was good because they were looking pretty sad last time I went.

None of the bears looked sad so maybe? The songs are pretty darn funny

I still have mine too!!!

YAY! For everyone keeping random costume parts

Another day caught up on, i'm getting there! I'd really like to stay at the Boardwalk one day and spend more time in that area. As a past Disney Bride I can agree that they do a wonderful job. I don't know if anyone else answered but The Attic is a location for wedding receptions or other events. You can see some photos here: http://disneytravelbabble.com/disney-weddings/wdw-venue-photos/attic/

I feel for you getting ill just before the fireworks, thats happened to me as well. Where's Captains Grille you mentioned?

CG is in the Yacht Club, it was a wonderful lunch! I'd love to have an event at thew Attic someday... or heck, anywhere at Disney for that matter.

I fell just few pages behind... like 8 or so.. I wish I could just play on dis... but then I would get nothing else done.

Me too, the minute I get caught up...I get WAY behind again.

Cynthia, I am not sure why... but I LOVE the bears! The weird songs... they just crack me up. Also.. the animatronics while are not the best make me feel just a bit nostalgic.

Bear fans are DEFINITELY beating the non bear fans! YAY! It absolutely cracks me up, I am so glad I went. Although I bet the E's could be like...:confused3 While Jeff laughs his patootie off.

I agree with you regarding the parade in that... it needs to be updated. I do enjoy it... but you are right... it seems to ALWAYS be going on...and has each and ever trip that I have taken.

those crowds definitely were on the high side...

Love the windows on Main st.

Sorry it was the last of your MK moments... that is always rough.

Yes, Always is exactly it! Too much of anything is often not a good thing.

Very sad to be at the last day

I saw that! SO happy, although I'm betting it will be done AFTER both of my 2014 trips :rotfl2:

Guess I'll see in in 2015.

@Cynthia...I had that "last day" feeling. I always tear up!! I'm so DISpoiled...:upsidedow

Great updates! It will be bittersweet to read more...I hate last days and unmagical expresses!!! :(

Last day is always bittersweet that is for sure. Thank heavens for late flights.

Cynthia, Thanks for that flashback ;) ... I haven't been to the Country Bear Jamboree in forever... Disney Classic...:thumbsup2

I hadn't either, glad I made the time for it.

Did I read somewhere there might be a new parade coming in 2014??? :confused3 If so, we both might get our wish!!! :cool1:

:thumbsup2 we did get our wish! Though I don't think it will be in time for my next trips....

Next DISMeet you'll all have to wear them! ::yes::

Umm...not.

- awesome picture while running MEK

Thanks! :)

-- Great last MK morning Cynthia! Cute orange top pictures on Main street.

I love that picture, too!

-- love WS with no people in it!

Who doesn't? Seriously so cool!

-- Country Bears - seen it once. I'm good.

:lmao: My thoughts exactly!

-- sorry for all the troubles with family stuff. I know it's hard with aging parents and all.

It definitely is a challenge but its all part of life.

-- hope the June trip works out - that can be really difficult when suffering with anxiety.

Well, the trip is off, but it may be on again in a different form. ;)

-- Cynthia - also hope your big family trip gets sorted out. I know I would not want to have 5 teen boys to be responsible for!

:faint:

-- Congrats to Nick on choosing his college. Sounds like a good choice.

Thanks. I think its a good choice although some of his classmates are giving the UD students a hard time for staying in Delaware. That's sort of bumming him out.

-- Glad Denny and the cat are doing well (didn't really mean to lump them together that way, but you get it)

:rotfl2: Yeah, I get it. Still funny though!

-:offtopic:Personal questions
Cynthia - I know you do work out, but may I ask how frequently? You look just so slim and trim in that black dress on your night at DHS! I remember you rocking the bikini from your cruise TR too, and just wondered what kind of undertaking and effort is involved.

I think she has good genes. And let me just say that standing in pictures with Cynthia is intimidating.

-MEK - how often do you run? Do you do other exercise too?
I really need to start a little program and just hate most forms of exercise. Plus I have some physical issues that limit things. Any tips or ideas are welcome.

I try to run 4-5 X a week. Right now I am doing nothing else, but I'm at my best physical when I do a weight training program. It's nothing super hard and its designed for middle age woman. It just helps with overall toning and flexibility. I really need to get back to it. In the cooler weather I alternate between running on the road and running on the treadmill. Treadmill is boring but good for intervals (and for catching up on crap TV).

Thank you for sharing all the fitness information! I appreciate your willingness to be so open and honest. It really does help to hear other people's stories. I'm motivated for the spring (what little of it we have) and summer due to our cruise in August. Not that I plan on wearing a bikini in Alaska, but there will be pictures, and I want to look good! For me, I've just not had any energy and I know exercise will help that. Now that the temp might stay above 45, I can get back to my outside walking at lunchtimes.

I heard the weather is getting nicer out in the midwest, so I hope you are finally having some spring motivation. I know I am might more motivated when its warm, dry, and light outside. Every winter I say I will stay motivated, but I never do.

MaryEllen, I am so sorry to hear this. Selfishly because I was so looking forward to meeting you. But mostly I am sorry for you and Denny and the uncertainty with a job. I'll keep good thoughts going for you.

Well, as you already know from our FB conversation, all hope is not lost yet. Still working out the final details. :thumbsup2

AWwww MAry Ellen I am sorry the trip is off.
I know you were looking forward to having a trip with some Disney "likers" this time.

I hope you do get some time off and find something you will like to do. :flower3:

Well, Pat there is some good news coming on both of those fronts. If I ever get caught up with replies I will post a promising update! :thumbsup2

Dang girl, that stinks!

Maybe you could go to Tennessee around the 4th of July and go to the big DISmeet?

That is totally cool about the DISmeet and I love TN. How fun would that be?

It's so hard to have all those things going at once, and then have stuff up in the air about the future. Hang in there!! Something will work out - just keep the faith and have patience (something I'm not good at!)

Thanks Sheree. There is actually some good news that I have to share. I think I dodged a bullet in several ways. :thumbsup2

It is NOT over, it will just change. I know it's hard. I'd never been out of a job in my life and survived 2 layoffs in 4 years. You will get through this, it will be good, perhaps even amazing or better at some point.

Faith
Trust
and
Pixie Dust

I know you have all three

:grouphug:

Thanks Cynthia. Those are some very positive remarks. I know a lot of people have been laid off and have survived. I know I could survive it too, but, thankfully, it doesn't look like I will have to. :worship:

I echo what everyone else has said. :grouphug: Hang in there.

Jill in CO

Thanks Jill! I really appreciate your positive thoughts and things are definitely looking up! :)

AWWW!! Mary Ellen, that is such a shame bout the trip :sad1:

Good luck on the job front :flower3:

I am a firm believer things happen for a reason but must admit there are times I do wonder what the reason is. pixiedust:

Thanks for the positive thoughts and I definitely agree that things happen for a reason. Things are definitely looking up on the job front and the vacation front. I'll share soon!

Cynthia - thanks for the Country Bears pics and the words to the songs - I love the bears - havent seen them for years though as they aren't at DL anymore and my family weren't keen when we went to WDW :confused3

I love Big Al and have 2 of them sitting on my bed at home along with Sully - I know weird eh:rolleyes1 There's something about big, chubby, hairy beasts :rotfl::rotfl:

:rotfl2: I think that's so cool that you have Big AL and Sully. After watching Monsters Inc down in HHI, I have to say that I have acquired quite the fondness for Sully. I forgot how adorable he is.

I have so much catching up to do...

Cynthia: I love your trip wish list - especially the waffle sandwich. I can finally say that I tried one for the first time last summer. Oh so good!

I am putting that waffle sandwich on my wish list too. Glad to hear its gets a good endorsement!

That does sound cool. I would love to get to DL to see it someday.

So you are saying that you don't Twist and Shout during the Celebrate It parade! :rotfl2: I just like the song at the end (Time of your Life) since it was the parade song from our Grand Marshal gig. Sentimental for sure! :upsidedow

Well, maybe if Cynthia was with Pat and I and a couple adult beverages we all would. :rotfl2:

You look lovely in your orange top! So befitting the pumpkin themed photo at MK!

I agree - that picture is adorable.

MK: My goodness so much in life is going on!
First, I truly wish you the best with your job search. You have such awesome credentials and job history so it's just another fork in the road. You will do well! :) Sorry that you had to make the decision to cancel June's trip. (Kathy, I feel for you! I would have looked forward to seeing Mary Ellen too!)

Well, things are looking up in the job department and the trip. It was actually my brother's decision to cancel. I was going -job or no job. He had paid for the accommodations and we were staying as his guest. But than when we had to retool it with paying our accommodations we had to start considering the job stuff and how responsible it would be. But things are definitely righting themselves. :thumbsup2

Glad to hear that Denny is doing well. He's fortunate to have you looking out for him. :) Sorry that you carry the burden of considering options for your parents and assisted living. :goodvibes

Thank you! The parent situation would be so much easier if my mom wasn't so stubborn.

And Denny is doing great. Finally starting to relax.

Whew! College decision done! Sounds like the choice makes perfect sense!

I think its a great choice for him. He's still a little ambivalent. With Delaware being such a small state so many kids make it their goal to leave and look negatively on UD. Some of Nick's friends are making negative comments and that is bumming him out. But he knows he will be fine and he's about to make a whole new set of friends.

As for your TR updates....
Awwww …. Yes, YC now takes on a whole new perspective when we see that view of the hotel.

Such a gorgeous hotel!

You look FABULOUS for your run and love the outfit! Love the blue color! Sheesh! When I run I don't look nearly that good!

Somehow I doubt that, but thank you! I do like thank tank top. It's actually cute. Most of my other running stuff is just functional.

At DHS, I'm totally fine with Bo getting love from another woman... Ok, someone needs to keep him company when I'm not around! :rotfl2:

I think it's great that we all want to share Bo! :lmao:

I think I remembered everything I wanted to say...

Thank you ladies for more great updates! :flower3:

You're welcome. Hopefully new updates will be forthcoming!

Oh Mary Ellen, I am so sorry to hear this. I have often found that when things start to go a little bad, they continue getting bad for a while until suddenly one good thing happens and turns everything around, then things all get good again. I hope the turn for the good happens for you very soon. I know it will come through for you and everything will work out ok. Fingers crossed for the best for you. pixiedust:

Thanks Wendy! Things are definitely looking up and I do have some good news to share with my next update. So Yeah! :thumbsup2

I'm here! (Better late than never!) :snail:

Thank Goodness you have post links; I'm diving in right now!!

Kathy

:welcome: Kathy! Thanks so much for joining in! :cool1: And for being so ambitious as to try to catch up! That is an undertaking. Right now I am struggling to keep up. :rotfl2:

I'm sorry, Mary Ellen. Remember: 1) This too shall pass. 2) Don't give up hope. You still might find an ideal job.

Thanks Mark! I actually have some very good news to share on the job front! :thumbsup2

I'm so sorry about your job. And all the other things you're dealing with.
I hope you won't have to cancel your October trip. Usually if you tell new jobs up front about a planned vacation they're fine with it.

Thanks Pam. I definitely don't plan on canceling October. The only thing I might need to do is make it a little shorter.

In terms of the job hunt, things are definitely looking up. :thumbsup2

How is your dad doing?

Thanks for asking. He is still pretty weak from the recent respiratory infection. I still believe he should have gone to the hospital, but my mom insists on treating him at home. He is slowing improving.

Thanks for providing the lyrics!

I wouldn't propose changing the lyrics one iota. I think the animatronics could be improved though to make the movements look more lifelike. You know, more like how singing bears really look. ;)

So Glen, how does a singing bear really look? Would you care to demonstrate? :rotfl2: I agree - those lyrics HAVE to stay!

Mary Ellen, this is NOT what I wanted to read!
I am so sorry your trip is off, but I hope that the job situation clears up SOON.

Lots of Pixie dust for you! pixiedust:  pixiedust:

Thanks Karin! I appreciate the pixie dust and I think it may have already worked because I do have some good news!

Oh Mary Ellen, I'm sorry to hear that the trip was cancelled. I'm sure that there is some worry about the right job coming along but it'll happen. God has a plan for you. Of that I am sure. I'll say a prayer that he'll reveal the plan to you sooner rather than later.

Thanks Lisa. Well, I do have good news on the job front that I will share very soon. As far as the canceled trip - that was more my brother's doing. But they were paying for the lodging, so now that's off. However, we are working on retooling things a bit. Fingers crossed!

I remember when I had to cancel our May, 2008 WDW trip because of a job change. It sucked! But, I moved to a better job and, miraculously, when I mentioned to my boss that I wanted to go to Disney in August, he said "go ahead" even though I had only been working for him for just a few months.

It'll happen for you. I know it will.

That's a great story! How fortunate for you! Did you right about that trip? How did August compare to your usual May/June trip? Just curious what you thought.

another day caught up on. I will def be trying Le Frous Brew and I so want those B&B pillows but they'll take up a lot of luggage space so will have to take less clothes!

I have to admit that I have no desire to try the brew, although I would take a sip. I have this weird think about drinking calories unless there is alcohol involved (shock there - I know :rotfl:). Those pillows were precious. Definite carry-on worthy.

I'd def like to stay at WL one day and am a big Poly fan so lovely to see your photos.

So glad you enjoyed the photos. Both of those resorts are so lovely!

I've never done the tikki room, might have to try that next trip but I do have a soft spot for COP.

I love CoP. It's such a great, nostalgic ride. I do it almost every trip!

I have to echo this too, when I started at my current job (April 1 start date) I'd already had a mid April DCA trip planned and was simply upfront about it in the interview and negotiation process and it wasn't a problem. I also had a 2 week trip planned for August of that same year and just discussed it all up front.

We were able to work it out and I'm confident wherever you end up, you'll be able to as well.

I did that in my interview as well. I told them about the October trip and that it was a lengthy trip because we were celebrating multiple things including being empty nesters!

I'm finally caught up!

And you didn't even know I was here. ;)

:welcome: Tarzankat! Nope - didn't even know you were lurking :rotfl: but I am excited about your big reveal! Thanks so much for joining in!

MEK, I'm sorry to hear about the trouble with vacations and work. I hope it all works out for you. :grouphug:

Thank you! Sorry your first post has to be about my job/vacation status. But I am happy to report that things are looking up on both those fronts! :thumbsup2

eandesmom, I'm lovin' your part of this report as well as MEK's! Sounds like you had a lovely time together. :goodvibes

We really did have a wonderful trip. This is our second time being roomies and Cynthia is a great roomie. We are compatible in many ways, but each independent enough to do our own thing. It works out really well!

A dated, but great show :thumbsup2

So neat that you developed an attachment to it as a little girl. I think its wonderful when attractions are that nostalgic! I must confess I have only seen it once. But now that I know how politically incorrect the lyrics are I might have to see it again just because I'm fascinated by stuff like that and how we have evolved as a society. What was so harmless then is so controversial now.

Mary Ellen - I swear, if I don't catch your update right when it happens, i'll be PAGES behind! :lmao:

I know the feeling.......:rotfl2: I didn't DIS all weekend and I am woefully behind....again!

You do look really great in that picture for having been running!:thumbsup2

Thanks! I'm telling you it had to be a fluke.

I still haven't eaten at R&C yet (DH won't let me make an ADR:mad:) but i'm determined to get there someday.

I've had dinner there and waited for a table so I could watch Illuminations. It was lovely. I have been wanting to go back for awhile. It's a neat place and the food was good.

Whew! Took me the entire day (off and on) but I did it! I read the entire report!

This is making me so excited for my Sisters-Only trip in October -- adult trips are definitely special!

I am so impressed with how quickly you got caught up! That's awesome. Your sisters-only trip is going to be so much fun. As you already know, there is just something really special and really unique about a girl's trip. Every girl needs one, if you ask me!

Cynthia, I'm on pins and needles to see which t-shirts make it into your shopping bag!

I'm telling you - she needs to do a contest!
Mary Ellen, I hope everything works out with your job. I quit mine after 11 years and couldn't find another position I liked for quite some time. Feels so strange to be a nurse who is unable to find a job! :confused3 That's what happens when you specialize...

Weren't you with a speciality practice? Allergy? Dermatology? Why do those things come to mind? I do think its a lot harder when you are specialized. Your specialized because THAT's what you like to do. It makes it harder to want to change jobs.

You were spot-on about insisting that Denny get that stress test... so glad he is okay!

Kathy

Ugh - looking back I sometimes feel like I should write the hospital and suggest they have better triaging in place for chest pain. I get that he ruled out for an MI, but he clearly should not have left that hospital.

Hope you don't have to cancel your October trip Mary Ellen:grouphug:I have been under the weather the past week and not dissing too much. Finally made a Doctor appointment for tomorrow . I am not taking any risks with not getting theis taken care of before my cruise !!

I am good on the October trip and I actually have good news about June and my job.

Yes - Rosie - please take care of yourself. You need this cruise. I know there has been some crappy URI virus going around here and its hit some people hard. Hope you are fine!!!!!!

I am fianlly caught up. I did skip a lot of the chit chat.

Can't so I blame you there! Things have gotten pretty chit-chat heavy. :rotfl2: I always skip chit-chat, too!

I am so glad College is decided on.

Phew - me too! That was one big item to check off the list as done!

I am hoping everything looks up for Denny from here on out. What a scare that was.

It really was scary when I thought he might need heart surgery. I can't tell you how relieved I was to hear it was a stent. :worship:

I hope you find your perfect job very soon. Good things come to those who wait...I know you are smart and terrific and you should find something soon.

Ah - Jen - that's so sweet. Well, I am happy to say that things are definitely looking up on the job front. :thumbsup2

What a bummer about your summer trip. I have anxiety, but never enough to stop traveling...I actually get it when I don't travel. :rotfl2:

:rotfl2: Me Too!!!!!!! :rotfl2:

My grandmother was that way though and my grandpa finally just said, I am leaving at this time and if you are going be in the car and she would miraculously be there. It's too bad your brither has tha, but if I was SIL, I would still go.

I know she would like too, but its a very complex situation that would be difficult to explain. She is a huge support person for him and just doesn't feel its practically to leave. I think they will be rescheduling.

Loving the updates!
I am not a fan of the Country bears, but Skip loves them. He loves that blood in a bucket song. :crazy2: It's the one thing he most remembers from his childhood trip. He now takes Claire in it when we go. I have seen int once or twice and no need for me to rush back. :rolleyes2
I do like that it is still there and a classic though. I think some of the bears recently got a makeover, which was good because they were looking pretty sad last time I went.

Nothing worse than a bunch of sad looking bears. :rotfl: I agree with keeping all the classics. This is one classic that I just don't have a lot of interest in. But blood in the bucket? What? That's crazy. It's so wrong that I find it interesting.

MEK, you got some fabulous running pictures with photopass. If that was me, I would look half dead.....because I would be since I just don't run. :p

I swear that picture was just a lucky fluke. I will never take a picture that good again while running (well chances are I will never take a picture again while running period :rotfl:)

Kathys back!!!! So good to "see" you. Missed you around here.

I know! How great is that?

I still have mine too!!!

Maybe we will all have to resurrect our costumes in a couple years for an April, May, June reunion! ::yes::

I fell just few pages behind... like 8 or so.. :rotfl: I wish I could just play on dis... but then I would get nothing else done.:confused3

:rotfl2: I know! I went DIS free this weekend and now I am so far behind EVERYwhere! YIKES!

Mary Ellen, I hope that both your mil and your dad are doing better. Isn't it funny/odd... getting older and now being the one who has to worry about your parents rather than your parent worrying about you. (not that a parent ever stops worrying about their child... but you know what I mean)

I know exactly what you mean and its all about the circle of life. Yes - it is so strange and its so tough when parents are stubborn. I think I could be more helpful if they weren't.

:cool1: and congrats to Nick on his decision!

Thanks. And is it wrong say that I am being perhaps just a little selfish to be happy that he is going to be to close to home and maybe come home for dinner every once in a while? :rolleyes1

:thumbsup2 glad to hear that Max is doing better.

He is doing really well and his diabetes has not affected his hunting skills. He nabbed a rabbit yesterday. It makes me so sad when he does that. My other cats have no interest in hunting, but he loves it and I have to really keep him in a lot this time of year for that reason.

Also glad Denny is doing better. I imagine you are quite the asset to him.

I am glad that I advocated for Denny and that they listened. I don't like thinking about the alternative.

I wish the June trip could have been worked out. Nothing more sad than canceling a trip. :sad2:

Well, there is going to be some good news on that front after all.

I am so sorry about how stressful your job situation must be!!! I definitely will keep you in my prayers. :goodvibes

Thanks! I appreciate that!!!! Good news there, too!

LOVE the running pic! It definitely turned out good!!!

Thanks - total fluke! That's all I can say. ::yes::

What great shots in WS! I take it that it was not yet open?

It was around 9am when I was walking through. Definitely one of the nice things about staying at an Epcot resort.

Cynthia, I am not sure why... but I LOVE the bears! The weird songs... they just crack me up. Also.. the animatronics while are not the best make me feel just a bit nostalgic.

I do appreciate the CB's for the nostalgic factor. I am not sure why I just never developed a feel for that attractions. But I am all about preserving the classics.

I agree with you regarding the parade in that... it needs to be updated. I do enjoy it... but you are right... it seems to ALWAYS be going on...and has each and ever trip that I have taken.

:rotfl2: You are so right about that - it IS always going on, isn't it?

those crowds definitely were on the high side...

I'm glad I was at Epcot then!

Love the windows on Main st.

What is not to love about the wonderfully decorated windows on Main Street?

Sorry it was the last of your MK moments... that is always rough.

It's always sad to say goodbye to a park for the last time, especially MK!

Yes, Mary Ellen, I did do a trip report for that trip which seems so long ago. We didn't tell Hunter that we were going to Disney and were able to keep the surprise right up until about an hour before we arrived at Disney. We told him that we were going on a road trip and weren't sure where we would end up. Imagine his surprise when we saw the 30 miles to Disney road sign. That's the year that he declared us to be The Best Parents in the Whole Wide World! :rotfl:

To us, August seemed to be hotter than May and the crowds were about the same. If I had to chose, I think that I'd choose May over August.

Yikes - didn't mean to skip over you. I hope I didn't skip over anyone else.

I have heard of the attics and actually saw pictures of a reception there. It really looks so cool. Thanks so much for posting the link. I do agree that the Boardwalk would be a wonderful place to get married. It's so beautiful in so many ways!

I feel for you getting ill just before the fireworks, thats happened to me as well. Where's Captains Grille you mentioned?

Thankfully, it was short lived and obviously something from dinner momentarily did not agree with me. Fortunately I have seen Illuminations a bunch of times so I didn't feel like I missed out.

Captains Grille is inside the Yacht Club. I will definitely be back!

Sheree - thanks so much for posting that link! I haven't read it yet (because I am trying to catch up), but I look forward to it!

Oh, Mary Ellen...! I am so sorry to hear about your struggles right now, but what is meant to happen will happen. I will be crossing my fingers and toes for great things to come along for you!!! ::yes::

Thanks Ashley! I really appreciate that - especially the toe cross because that's going to hurt! :rotfl: Actually, things are looking up and I will have some good news with my next update! :thumbsup2

As for your trip being cancelled, my sadness is also a little selfish because I was looking forward to possibly meeting you!! Maybe the stars will align and something will work out for you to go before your next trip.

Well, the stars are doing just that because I am working on something right now. ;)

@Poolrat....thanks for posting the crayon pics!!! HAHA :lmao::lmao::lmao: I knew it was you that originally posted about those. I can't wait to look for them in the queue!

Me too! I think its so cool she saw that!

@Cynthia...I had that "last day" feeling. I always tear up!! I'm so DISpoiled...:upsidedow

Great updates! It will be bittersweet to read more...I hate last days and unmagical expresses!!! :(

OMG - I can remember my very first trip and how I was tearing up in Epcot when I was watching the pre show to Honey I shrunk the Audience. It was that preshow by Kodak and I had to put my sunglasses on so no one would see my tearing eyes.

I'm so sorry to hear that things have been so stressful for you lately!!! That's wonderful that the college decision has been made, it sounds like a great choice!! :thumbsup2

Thanks! I appreciate the good thoughts. And, yes, I am happy the college decision has been made. Phew - is all I can say!

I hope the job situation is resolved soon, and you find something you enjoy!!

Thank you - I actually have some good news related to that! :goodvibes

Awww thanks for posting that!!! :goodvibes It feels like it's coming up SO fast!!!

That's because it IS coming up so fast. So, so, SO exciting for you!!!!!!

Finally all caught up. Sorry your trip to Hilton Head sucked so much Mary Ellen but glad to hear it wasn't even worse.

It could have been so much worse. I wouldn't say it actually "sucked", but it was stressful. Fortunately, the timing of Denny's event was good and we were able to extend the trip by a few days. So it definitely ended on a positive note!

Love the sunset photos on the way to the studios.

Thanks. I really like the way both of our pictures turned out! :thumbsup2

I think I may have missed some news along the way, which college did Nick pick?

Nick picked University of Delaware. Quite honestly, we all really liked the school, the size, the engineering program, the tuition (obviously), the campus, and the selection of dorms. He is a little bummed not to be going out of state, but I think when he meets tons of new people he will be happy. And when he graduates he will be even happier not to have student loans to repay. :worship:

Just keeping up Mary Ellen !! I have not been on the Dis much as I have felt sooo rotten but I think I am on the mend with the help of lots of med s!!!

Well, you have obviously been on more than me because I have not visited another trip report in days. Ugh - you must have gotten that URI thing that was going around. I am glad to hear you are on the mend. Continue to get better Rosie!

Student loans are def a good reason to stay in state. Here in the UK I don't think they are anywhere near as much as the USA but i'm still paying mine off, I think i've got at least another 2 years to go before I clear it, so that'll have been at least 13 years paying them off. Looking forward to the extra money in my paycheck each month though.

Cynthia, I have to say it was actually painful for me to scroll through your Country Bears updates!! :lmao: I really just can't stand that show, but some kind of way, my DH ALWAYS manages to drag me in there!! Your solo Photopass came out great though. :goodvibes

Mary Ellen, sounds like you really have a lot going on right now! I hope things start looking up. But yay for Nick picking a great school and your kitty doing better! :goodvibes

Your dedication to running in Disney is so great, but something I can't even imagine doing myself. :rotfl2: That's really awesome that you got a PP pic while on your run! And it came out great.

I hope everything works out with your June trip, and I hope your October one is still on?

I found the bears update and another one i'd missed d'oh!

Very colour co-ordinated Cynthia with your orange t-shirt in MK.

Great phone photos on your run Mary Ellen, they came out so well.

Cynthia, Thanks for that flashback ;) ... I haven't been to the Country Bear Jamboree in forever... Disney Classic...:thumbsup2

Definitely a Disney classic! Now that I have seen Cynthia's pictures I should be good for a very long time! :rotfl2:

Mary Ellen, Oh MY... not sure where to start..

Super Congrats on Nick choosing his college... Delaware is a great school & (hurray for the in state tuition... ... not to mention the relief in just having the decision all made...:thumbsup2)

All along I had a feeling he would circle back to Delaware. I just don't think he ever found a school that he really loved. He now regrets that he didn't start visiting schools sooner, but I think he is being too hard on himself. It's a lovely campus and I think when he saw how many out of state students where there looking at the school he realized that is doesn't matter so much if its in his own back yard. Certainly college is what you make of it and I think he will have plenty of opportunities to have a great college experience.

Thanks for all your good thoughts. Things are actually improving and I do have some good news to share. Thanks for the virtual hug.

Maybe a walk and some lovely flowers will make you feel a little better...;) That trip to Longwood is right around the corner...

I am really looking forward to Longwood. Denny and I actually decided to use our "annual passes" there yesterday. It was super crowded, so it should be a lot nicer when we go. And now I know where everything is - sort of like a preview, so I'm looking forward to going back. I took a lot of pictures yesterday so hopefully I will be less picture obsessed when we meet! :thumbsup2

I can't believe you looked that great during your run! I would have looked like a hot mess!

:rotfl2: Thanks! I actually think maybe I wasn't working out hard enough. But I did really enjoy my run that day and felt very good once I hit the streets!

FYI- they cancelled all of the segway tours!! They are no longer:sad: I really wanted to try one one day too!!

That is SO sad. I loved that tour. What a loss. I hope they can revamp the program and bring it back. It really was such a nice addition and the CM guides and instructors were wonderful.

Did I read somewhere there might be a new parade coming in 2014??? :confused3 If so, we both might get our wish!!! :cool1:

Looks like we are all getting our wish. I do enjoy a revamped parade.

As for the Segway tours I heard they have discontinued those. (and MEK confirmed below it seems) :sad1:

It is sad. They were great tours and such a nice addition. I hope they can eventually bring them back.

Yes, but I think I was warned about that going in........... :rolleyes2

Good! ::yes::

They have to make it easy if MY drawing is to have a resemblance! ::yes::

Well if you ever do one you definitely have to share so we can be the judge of your artistic abilities.

Great News!!! :thumbsup2

It certainly is. thanks!

At least it wasn't a Wrecker.......... :rotfl2: :duck:

:faint:

You need to work on that Missy!!! ;)

I intende too! ;)

Well crud! Guess I waited too long!!! :(

You and a lot of other people.

Next DISMeet you'll all have to wear them! ::yes::

I just told Pat we have to have an April, May, and June reunion!

O
M
G

She heard from Vanderbilt finally after the college ID camp, got a great eval.

They want to see her again

That's wonderful news, especially since that's at the top of her list. I guess someone will be traveling to Nashville this summer. Plus - what a great town! I love it there. Good luck to K. Keep me posted.

I left out the other parts but I still have all of it as well.

.

April, May, and June reunion! :cool1:

Yes, Mary Ellen, I did do a trip report for that trip which seems so long ago. We didn't tell Hunter that we were going to Disney and were able to keep the surprise right up until about an hour before we arrived at Disney. We told him that we were going on a road trip and weren't sure where we would end up. Imagine his surprise when we saw the 30 miles to Disney road sign. That's the year that he declared us to be The Best Parents in the Whole Wide World! :rotfl:

That is awesome! How cool that you were able to wait that long to surprise him. You really ARE the Best Parents in the Whole Wide World! I love that!

To us, August seemed to be hotter than May and the crowds were about the same. If I had to chose, I think that I'd choose May over August.

When my boys were younger we would go the last week of August and every year it was excellent - low crowds and not super hot. And then it happened - we hit the year that EVERYONE did free dining and it was hotter than blazes. I think May always seems to work out so well for your gang. And you are almost there for this year! :cheer2:

Student loans are def a good reason to stay in state. Here in the UK I don't think they are anywhere near as much as the USA but i'm still paying mine off, I think i've got at least another 2 years to go before I clear it, so that'll have been at least 13 years paying them off. Looking forward to the extra money in my paycheck each month though.

I have friends that will be paying theirs off for a long time and it really impacts their lifestyle choices in terms of cars and housing. It's sad to see them with such terrible loans. Fortunately I went to school during a time when college tuition was not insane. But it IS insane now and we are in the demographic where our kids are not going to get any assistance. According to our FAFSA we should be able to afford the University of Delaware for two kids. Nicholas has friends who will be paying a lot less for University of Delaware simply based on their parent's income and NOT at all on academics. I get it - but then again......

Congrats for having only two more years to go! You are almost there.

Cynthia, I have to say it was actually painful for me to scroll through your Country Bears updates!! :lmao: I really just can't stand that show, but some kind of way, my DH ALWAYS manages to drag me in there!! Your solo Photopass came out great though. :goodvibes

:rotfl2: He always manages to drag you in? That is too funny! He must be very persuasive! :rotfl2:

Mary Ellen, sounds like you really have a lot going on right now! I hope things start looking up. But yay for Nick picking a great school and your kitty doing better! :goodvibes

Actually, things are better than when I last posted and I have some positive things to write about.

Max is doing great and is almost back to his old self! :thumbsup2

I am pleased Nick has picked his school and right now he is strongly leaning towards electrical engineering. :thumbsup2

Your dedication to running in Disney is so great, but something I can't even imagine doing myself. :rotfl2: That's really awesome that you got a PP pic while on your run! And it came out great.

And that it came out great.......is what's really awesome! :lmao: I really like to run so its not a hardship for me to run on vacation. I much rather do it then then after work in the evenings. I have a lot more energy when I have coffee coursing threw my veins!

I hope everything works out with your June trip, and I hope your October one is still on?

October is still on. And I have some good news about June, too! ;)

I keep seeing a mention of the country bears, did I miss an update!?

I never put the links up. I have to do that tonight!

I found the bears update and another one i'd missed d'oh!

My fault for no link. It's coming.......

Very colour co-ordinated Cynthia with your orange t-shirt in MK.

I think so too. That's probably my favorite picture of the whole trip!

Great phone photos on your run Mary Ellen, they came out so well.

Thanks. I think they turned out really well, too. I especially love the ToT picture!
