sorry for upset

Hi all
Have been lurking for ages, but now posting due to very confused and wondered on other people's thoughts on this?

Seen a picture of a non shareholder getting a private meet in Salon Mickey - surely this is so very wrong? Especially with all the news about increasing number of shares a shareholder can have.....

(can't post due to post limit)

Regards

Hello and welcome to the boards :goodvibes

Re your post -You are going to have to be a bit clearer :confused3

- People can't go into SM without either being a SH and having a card or being a guest of a SH.

-Private meet with whom ? Disney staff/management/characters ?

Where did you read this as even if you can't post a photo or a live link you could give the adresse of the page/blog :)

Welcome to the Disneyland Paris Trip Planning & Community Board dlplover :)

If you have not had a look yet, DLP posting rules are here, and DIS posting guidelines can be found here.

Can't say that this bothers me too much, as long as it's a very occasional occurrence! May have been for somebody very important or special - some more details would be interesting.

I really think it depends on the circumstances. SM is closed from lunchtime anyway to SHs so I guess that they are just making use of the building when not in use to SH which is perfectly acceptable.... :confused3

As for it being a private meet - they do happen from time to time for various reasons. Yes, some people may think that it is 'not fair' on others, but to me, that is part of the pixie dust of DLRP, you never quite know what is going to happen if you get lucky pixiedust:. That's the way I like to look at it anyway. I don't like to begrudge people things.... :)

If it is out of normal opening hours it doesn't affect any SH.

I know you can meet characters for a fee so it brings money into the resort which is a good thing. They also do them for competition winners, seriously ill people etc etc

Doesn't bother me in the slightest :thumbsup2

Nor me. I would feel differently if it was happening within shareholders' time between 9am - 12pm and shareholders were being refused access because of it but as it's not I can't see why it could be an issue.

I'd be very surprised if this doesn't happen all the time, after all I'm sure I've read somewhere that Salon Mickey used to be for entertaining VIPs in the early days. Look at that Prince who paid for lots of rare characters to visit - if you've got the money it's amazing what it would be possible to arrange.

dlplover, are you a shareholder? If so, does it bother you and why? :confused3

I think it's lovely that they would use Salon Mickey for something magical lke this! :wizard:

As a shareholder it doesn't bother me if this happens (as others have said it is not restricting the benefits of shareholders in any way) - and if it happened to me I certainly wouldn't be complaining!! :rotfl2:

I agree with others in that it doesn't bother me as it was outside of the opening hours of Salon Mickey and I suppose they are just utilising a private room. Some person got very lucky, good luck to them:goodvibes

Maybe we should all club together and have a DIS Board open day - where the park is only open to us! :rotfl2: Sadly, I don't think we could raise the funds! :lmao:.

I sometimes wonder if the Sultan would ask for the park to be open solely for his use - I think I would if I had his wealth. Maybe he has asked but been told no ;)!

The Studios are open for private events many times in the year, the last one was last week with Armin van Buuren djing

If you've got the money ... the Prince has arranged private parties in the park with characters just for him and his family so maybe he has had it open at night ;)

I can kind of understand WDS - I really feel that place has 'lost it's way' if I'm honest - but that's another story :crazy2:....

Didn't realise the Prince had held private parties - I need to get on his guestlist :lmao:. As you say, it must have been at night. I just don't know how they would close the park all day to the public.... or what it would cost :scared:.

Shall we start the DIS Board fund now :rotfl2:.

Oh they do them in the main park too - here's one from last year which I could have gone to had I'd been in France at the time.

They got to see the MM festival shows as a preview, a week before press event plus acces from 21.00-0.00 on all rides

Why have you changed the title of this post and deleted the OP? I'm pretty sure you didn't cause any upset, as everyone has said they are quite happy for SM to be used for private greets. I certainly wouldn't have a problem with that, I wouldn't begrudge anyone a private meet, anywhere in Disneyland (might be slightly jealous!). We have been so incredibly lucky as to have had two private meets this year, one in Feb with Rapunzel and one in August with Piglet, Tigger and Rabbit - but these were both in City Hall.

I would be interested to see where you read this though, simply out of sheer nosiness!

Salon Mickey is only open to shareholders until 12 noon. After that time it's used for other activities. VIP meet and greats, round table discussions, interviews and entertaining.

I've had a meeting in there with members of the conference team one afternoon when my company as organising a convention and we held a private party in the park for our delegates in the evening once the park was closed to guests.

Its nice to see it used for other activities.

To the OP, I feel awful now, you certainly didn't upset me (really sorry if you think you did). I think people were just saying they are happy for it to be used for other things, but that the SH Club times remain (for the time being until it changes in the future no doubt!) ;).

And yes, I was dreaming that we could get a few pennies together and have our own park with private meets all day - not likely :rotfl2:.

The Corporate Business DLP site used to list the options/prices for hiring out different areas of the park for private use, if I ever win the lottery I promise you'll all be invited ;-)

Not sure why would anyone have a problem with SM being used outside Shareholders hours and having just read through the thread can't see anyone else upset by it either ?
