Sorry for the basic discount question

I can’t believe I’m asking this, but I don’t have a direct contract anymore (but do have a resale) so don’t have the additional membership perks. Am I eligible for the varied discounts at restaurants and stores?

If you purchase merchandise in the stores using mobile checkout in the MDE app, and your DVC ownership is linked to your MDE, you’ll get the DVC discount applied automatically. Apparently the app can’t distinguish between DVC-Y and DVC-ND.

It has not been asked. When did you purchase the resale contract that you still have?

So every store I went into they just asked to see my profile/memberships of MDE where it says DVC. Obviously doesn’t show membership perks vs not there. Got a 20% dvc discount on everything except alcohol.

Is this at Disneyland or WDW? If youre going to try to get the discount anyways just buy merch thru the app so they dont ask because eventually someone will probably ask and no you are not entitled to the discount as resale when cast members ask you if you are a member. Whether or not they actually scan it, the answer would be it depends who it is.

If you happen to have an AP or Chase Disney Visa that would be the better way to go as the discounts are often the same and you would be eligible for that without question if you have it.

They do not care (or check) whether the Chase Visa is a debit or credit card. To this day and years of using it, I dont even know if a Disney debit card is eligible or not for a discount or if its just the credit card. Disney doesn't care, so I dont care to ask. The card also gets you access to some character meet and greets for cardholders only which is nice too.

Get yourself a bank account with Chase if you want a discount, dont want a credit card, and dont want to pretend youre eligible for a DVC discount. Just get a Disney design and you are good to go.

Same for mobile food orders at Disneyland and to go restaurants at WDW you can get the discount thru the app if you're resale.

And before anyone comes at me about being unethical, hes not asking if its ethical or not, hes asking if he is eligible and the answer is yes he is eligible to use the app and the DVC discount will be on the app that Disney themselves programmed and are aware that all members can use.

Whether or not he cares if its considered ethical will be up to him. Disney hasnt cared enough to fix it.

This was at WDW and I do have a Disney visa (no AP). They told me the DVC discount was the best. Again, multiple cast members at multiple shops just asked me to show the profile / membership screen for the discount. So, technically eligible or not, then yes, I’m taking the discount. Even at 20% off, the margins are crazy high at their prices…not worrying for a second about the ethics of it.

@BuzzLightyearDad - Just want to confirm and clarify. Do you still own the BCV contract from 2007? If yes, then you are grandfathered in and are still eligible for all discounts and Membership Extras-- so all this talk about work arounds does not apply to you.
