For us, Disney is something we do every 3-5 years, go for a long time (2 weeks) and stay Deluxe all the way. Since we went last year, we kind of expected not to go again for a few years. We're having a baby this December and we kind of wanted another vacation before the baby comes and so we've been looking at where we can go pretty economically.

Well... we've been sitting on the free dining option for a while... and well today is the last day... so we booked it!! I'm so excited! We'll be there the 16th thru the 23rd of September. Anyone else going to be there during that time? We're staying at Port Orleans - Riverside. I've only ever stayed deluxe, so I hope we enjoy the resort.

I seriously wasn't expecting to go back so soon, but with a 3 year old, it's an easy vacation and with free dining... super cheap. YAY! :)

We stayed at Riverside last year and liked it. Will be back there for Thanksgiving! I feel like I practically grew up in the Contemporary and I am happy with any level of the WDW resorts. You still get the quality you expect from Disney. The rooms are a little smaller, but we were fine with five people ( and one is a teenager :scared1:).

Each of our last 2 trips we stayed at Port Orleans: Riverside. It is now DW's favorite resort. You should have a great time.

Congrats on the upcoming new addition and also the upcoming Disney trip!

The resident WDW expert at my office loves Port Orleans Riverside. He goes to Disney every year and usually stay Deluxe also, but when they want a cheaper trip, they stay at PORS and love it. For our trip this year, he was trying to sell us on PORS and suggested putting in a request for Magnolia Bend section of the resort. The buildings look like old mansions and it's supposed to be close-ish to the main building and one of the bus stops.

Have a great trip and enjoy free dining. Better get to making those dining reservations before you end up eating at The Crystal Palace every meal of the trip ;)

Congrats on the new addition:yay:

Port Orleans Riverside = Yehaa Bob Jackson. Nobody has more fun :dance3:

And oh yes, We just booked 12/15-12/21. If we are not out shooting pictures or park hopping, we will be in the bar singing with Bob!

Let the magic begin.

Chuck

Congrats on the trip and the new addition!!! I will find out tomorrow or Tuesday if I am going this fall. I have a week at a nearby timeshare that has to be used this year so I might be making a solo photo trip depending on what weeks are available.

congratulations!
You will like POR. We stayed there for the first time last November and were very pleased. We were in the Parterre Place mansion and it was a pleasant walk to the food court. I would definately stay there again. We have stayed at all levels and POR is one of our favorite 3.

Here is the link to my POR Photos.

Congrats on the baby and the vacation. I stayed at Dixie Landings back in 1992, which I believe is the one that was renamed Port Orleans Riverside. I loved it. It was very nice. Probably a lot has changed in 17 years, the rooms were nice, small, but nice. Hope you enjoy.

I forgot to mention that I like the food court there better than POFQ, CS, and the All Stars. The ASMu food court is a close second for me though. We cannot stay there without two rooms anymore b/c of the three kids :sad1:

YAY! You guys are making me super excited!! :) Thank you for easing my fears. I'm a hotel-snob, so this was a big concession on my part. :) And my hubby is a totally foodie, so having good food is super important.

Amy, your photos are beautiful. Thank you so much for sharing - it really gives me a better feeling about the entire stay!

Congrats on booking the trip!

DW and I have stayed there more than 5 times and we love it. We stayed at the WL last year and for us the extra $ just weren't worth it for our type of stay. We love the food court at POR (always be DL to us though!) and the bus service is pretty consistent. The rooms are slightly smaller than the deluxe, but since it is just the DW and I, never been an issue.

We decided to "head home" this year and are going back to POR in December instead of WL.

I think you will be fine and hope you enjoy your trip!

My family is going from Sept 15-28th... We are staying at Pop Centrury... Should be a fun time to go...

Congratulations on your new addition and your upcoming trip! I've always wanted to go to the World and stay onsite. With free dining, you can't beat that!

Congrats on your upcoming trip (and baby), Susan!

We're headed down the week of September 20-26th and staying at the Villas at WL. Never stayed at POR, but I've heard great things about it.

We've stayed at Animal Kingdom Lodge and Port Orleans Riverside. And quite honestly the only difference we noticed in the room other than the theming of the decor and a slightly different floor plan is that you don't get the deluxe little toiletries. But, you do get a cute bar of Mickey soap!

Congrats on the baby! :) and enjoy your trip:cool1:
Is your daughter excited about being a big sister? My DD was 3 when I was pregnant with DD#2. She wanted a sister REALLY bad- then a few days after her sister arrived she was asking when we could return her:rotfl:

Congrats on the baby and the trip! :thumbsup2

We're going Sept. 6-12 and my wife is also pregnant (due in the middle of November). We had the trip booked before we found out she was pregnant. It's my DD4's first time and we're also doing free dining and staying at Pop. Should make for an interesting trip.

Congrats on the new baby and I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time on your upcoming trip!!

We're booked for September 12-20th at POR too!! We've stayed there at least the last 8 times we've been to Disney. This will be our 4th Free Dining trip at POR. Their food court is wonderful!

In the past we've stayed at the Poly, Wilderness Lodge, Caribbean Beach, All Star Sports, POR (also when it was Dixie Landings) and my mom has been to Coronado Springs. POR is our favorite resort by far (in the moderate category ;))- and lovndisney~ it actually hasn't changed all that much!! :)

If you've got a 3 year old you might want to walk a little less- ask for a room in the Bayou section. We always stay in the mansions because we like the feel of it, but the Bayou section is closer to everything.

The feel of the whole resort is great- very laid back and really pretty scenery. I love their gift shop and their food court. And make sure to take the boat to DTD at least once!
