:santa:"SANTA TO DIS-CHILDREN OF THE WORLD:

SORRY CHILDREN... I know that Christmas Eve is tonight, but I'm sorry that you are not going to be able to get any presents tonight .... I know I promised you that the presents would be coming tonight and I'm sorry I have built up the hype ... I don't know when the presents are coming.... but they are going to be really good ... you are just going to have to be patient for a little while longer!"
:santa:
This is how I interpreted Pete's message on the latest podcast about "Project X" (what is the official title anyway? E Ticket, E-Ticket ??).

Sure most of us are grown adults, but like kids in a candy store, seeing the candy, smelling the candy, but being told we can't have any candy .... not just yet... and no one knows when we will be able to have some candy; assuring us that it will be worth the wait... when the time is right and the POWERS THAT BE say that we can have the candy!

WAAAAH.... I want the candy!!

Pretty please with a cherry on top! :worship:

(Are you sure this isn't a marketing ploy to play up the "hype" of this App???? You know, you could possibly have the App hit the iTunes App Chart in the top 10, if you have the entire DIS world waiting to download it at the same time? Not saying that is what ya'll are doing, of course!)

Why can't the App just be released as we were told and just be updated in the future when new stuff is added? :confused3

I wanted to purchase this App as a gift for my "??'s" birthday in a few days! Now I have no gift!!!! Unless of course I can tell my "??":

Your "gift" will be wonderful, and it will be worth the wait; you just can't have it yet, and I don't know when I can let you have it!

It is my understanding there was a technical glitch with the app and Pete decided not to release it with that glitch. The decision was made to postpone the launch until the issue was resolved rather than having people pay for it now and then say 'we'll fix that later with an upgrade'.

Would you rather have half a present now or wait a little while for one that works as it was intended?

If anyone is curious why we usually keep things quiet and to ourselves until we are sure everything is ready to go....;)

Christmas Eve is two months away.

Let me get rid of the Halloween candy before we haul out the holly. (That reference is for Mike - k5jmh).

Good things come to those who wait.

Will we have a barrel of fun?

Yes, we all want the App to be "glitch free" when released ....

And I know we should be grateful that we get to hold on to our money a little longer, but....

Perhaps just saying "Project X will be released in the App Store soon. Stay tuned to future podcasts. We will tell you on the podcast AFTER we have launched!"

would have been better than ....

"telling us when the candy store was going to be open... having hords of us staying up late to maybe be one of the first in line to buy some candy (you know us early iPhone adopters!), and feeling a little disappointed...."

Sorry to be the only one "verbalizing my thoughts" on the boards, but I know I'm not the only one thinking it ....
______________

That being said and off my chest...

WE STILL LOVE YOU DISUNPLUGGED and you know that we are all still loyal listeners and posters and we will continue to download all of your past/future podcasts...:lovestruc

I learned my lesson a long time ago as a Mother, NOT to tell my children something like this, especially giving them a date, because I would never hear the end of it if it never materialized....

THUD!!! (did you hear that?) I'M STEPPING DOWN OFF THE SOAPBOX RIGHT NOW - no more complaining.... I know I'm punished for saying what was on my mind cause it wasn't appropriate and I shouldn't feel a sense of "entitlement". I'm headed to the corner right now ....... I'm sorry Pete, John & Kevin, & the rest of the DISUNPLUGGED team ...)

Am I the only one singing, "Slice up the fruitcake. It's time we hung some tinsel on that evergreen bough."

I can help you with that! And I almost count as holly. ;)

Knowing Pete and the crew....They are perfectionists....Exceeding our expectations is always on their minds...This app, I'm sure, is no different. If I knew something was wrong with a system (I work in IT) I'd have a hard time releasing/deploying it to users as well. I would only release it unless I was being pressed by my superiors. Since it's Pete's and the crews app they can release it as they see fit. I trust them, and believe what they are doing is in our best interest.
