Hi everyone,

Apologies if i seem a bit dumb but my df and i currently own 160 points at SSR and we were thinking of adding on 40 pts this year.

Ive been looking on this page and it sounds like it could be cheaper per point to do resale but i dont know what this is or how i would go about this.

Can a resale be done direct with disney at SSR?

Is it cheaper per point to do and is it as safe/legit as our first purchase through disney?

Obviously in the current climate that we are in i would like to spend my money as wisely as possible and if there is a way of getting more points for the $ i would like to hear about it.

We are UK residents, does that change anything?

Thanks for any help given.

A resale is a deed that somebody doesn't want anymore, so they 'resell' it. The easiest way to find them (imho) is to go the the main page for any DVC board and click the big ad at the top of the page for The Timeshare Store. From there, you can choose which resort you want to buy, then see what they have available and cost-per-point. It changes often, so keep checking back until you find what you want; and let them know what you want, so they can look too.

As for savings -- the resale contracts are less-expensive than buying direct from Disney, but have closing fees and it takes longer for the points to be available for you to use (4-6 weeks?). The larger the contract, the lower the per-point cost, usually. Once you find a the contract you want, make an offer and start the purchase process . . . then enjoy your holiday!!

yeah, buying a 40 pt SSR contract directly would cost $104 per pt, but there would be no additional closing costs and it will be a lot easier to get exactly 40 pts. it will not be difficult to find a 50 pt SSR resale but 40 pt contracts are a little more rare.

also, keep in mind that buying a resale contract with the same UY month makes it easier to keep track of your points, if they are titled the same and you contact DVC during the process and ask them to treat it as an "add-on" to your master contract. (it's not a huge deal if you find exactly the contract you want, but it may add a step to using pts from the resale contract. add-ons purchased directly from DVC would have the same UY month.)
