Arrgh. They did it again. I swear the mail people in this town are all stupid numbnuts sometimes.

For the umpteenth time this month, we've got somebody else's mail. It looks like a Christmas card. And I probably wouldn't mind so much if the street name on the address looked like ours, but it's not.

Ours is *number* EASTBORNE..the person the card is for lives on WILLOW. They don't even LOOK alike. The house numbers are the same, but it's pretty easy to see that the word "Willow" doesn't look anything LIKE the word "Eastborne".

Guess I'll have to put in the mail tomorrow with a note. :rotfl:

Our new mailperson gives us someone else's mail at least twice a week!

I recently bought a condo and the mailperson is awesome, if the mail doesn't include the Unit number that I live in, she still manages to get it to me.

Does the mail have a Zip+4 code (little black or barely-readable orange lines) on it? If it does, it is possible is was misdirected not by the mail-carrier but a data-entry clerk at the PO.

If you get the package that the Post Office claims was delivered, but we never recieved would you hang on to it for me?

Jen :)

Some carriers sort by number, some by street. Your mail probably was 'cased' by a carrier who wasn't as familiar with the route as they thought they were.

There was no zip+ code on it, unfortunately. It's entirely possible the mistake was made at the office in CARROLLTON (about 30 min or so from where we live) where the mail is sorted.

We have a small post office, but for some reason the U.S. postal service doesn't think our people can handle sorting the mail. Funny..they seem to be able to run the office, deliver the mail and do everything else th at one usually sees done in a regular post office. But we can't handle our own sorting? WTH? :confused3 :rotfl:

Ah..the joys of living in a small town.

Oh..I almost forgot. Our mailman left the note I'd attached to the errant card in our mailbox with the words 'Thank you *mailman's name*'. :goodvibes

I have just the opposite to report. we got a card from DG's eccentric and somewhat scattered aunt. It was addressed as follows:

Dh's first name, my first name, DD's first name (no last name)
street name (no street number)
Town name, state, and the first 3 digits of the zip code.

Amazingly, we received this one day after it was postmarked in another city.

Here is my mail gripe. We have a metal cluster box on my property. It is on the area between the sidewalk and the road. It has about 25 boxes, so the people that get their mail are all my neighbors. This week there was a note in our mail box that said "NO Trail, No Mail". I waited on Tuesday to see if anyone would shovel out the Trail. On Tuesday we received another notice how the area had to be cleaned out.

The snow is so hard and packed down I really didn't see a problem, but apparently they want the area totally cleaned out, so the mail person doesn't slip or something. On Wednesday, I saw the mailman zip by the mail cluster box.
I called my sister at 4:00 and asked her if she got any mail. She said no, and I told her I didn't have any either. I asked her if she got the notice about "No Trail, No Mail" and she said, ya, but didn't think nothing of it either.

So, me and my neice went outside, and I had an ice scraper and my neice had a mud shovel and we worked over 1/2 an hour clearing that area.

We had mail the next day! If this ever happens again, I am going to wait to see how long it will take for the neighbors to notice they don't get mail, and let them come over and "Trail it Out!"

And to add, when I get other people's mail, I just shove it back in the slot for outgoing mail in out little mail box cluster.

That's It!
Cut 'em off!
No more eggnog+ for him..... :earseek:

Eggnog is the most disgusting drink on the planet. I can't see why anybody would drink it.

What IS a nog, anyway? And how did it get into the eggs?

Our association pays people to keep the way to our mailbox cluster clear. If folks don't want to pay or do the work to keep the way clear, they request to have their mail held at the post office for pick up during business hours.

They did it again today. Right house number, wrong street. This time it was a package (smallish..it fit inside the mailbox) that the other person had won off of Ebay. So I stuck it back in with a note and if he doesn't re-deliver it, I'm sending it back to Ebay because I have NO idea where this other street is. I only know the person has the same house number as me.

They delivered 3 (yes 3) boxes of presents to xxxxx BLAH street, instead of our house at xxxxx YADA street. Christmas Eve night the doorbell rang. It was the BLAH street family with 2 of them. A minute later they were back with another. :confused3

Did you keep them or send them on to BLAH street?

Inquiring minds need to know! ;)

They were for us! One from my grandmother, one from my cousin, and one from my SIL. They were delivered to BLAH instead of YADA. :confused3 I do wonder why it took them 2 trips to deliver 3 small boxes though, and how much of our mail they get. Once I got a package for them and went over to deliver it. The kids (not really young maybe 10ish) who answered the door said they didn't know if 'Bob and Jane' lived there. They didn't know what the names of the people who lived there were.

Oh ok. I mis-read your post.

Wait..there are kids that live there and they have NO idea who else is living there with them? :confused3 How odd.

You'd think they'd be smart enough to go "Hey MOM! Dad! Are you *so-n-so*?" or something.

I know. It was very weird and since then I have been concerned about what would happen if they got OUR mail. Hopefully this has been the only time.

At least they brought your mail to you.

When my SIL and her DH were first dating, my ILs bought DBIL a set of very handsome (and expensive!)hip waders (DBIL is a fisherman/hunter) from somewhere online as a Christmas gift. They waited, and waited, and waited. The hip waders never appeared.

They called the post office. Apparently, the waders were delivered to *some number* XYZ street instead of *some number*ABC street where the ILs used to live. When they did find the box of waders, it was clear that whoever lived on XYZ street had been out of town and the box left outside. It was soaked through and moldy. So the ILs yell at the post office for delivering it wrong and called the sporting goods company from which they ordered it, to get another pair (which I think they ended up paying for, I don't recall) which was barely delivered in time for Christmas.
