Sorry- but I can't get the members guide on the Disney DVC site. I banked a small (7) number of points to next year. I have a Jan 05 ressie that uses all but the 7. I have Feb use year, 170 points at BCV. Do I have to use these 7 points by Feb 2006? Can I use them in the 2005 use year to make a ressie after Feb 2006? New at this and haven't figured out the best way to schedule points. It seems the best way to never have points "expire" is to always borrow a few from the next use year. Any strategies from you veterans would be appreciated.

Thanks Bob

If you have a February use year, then:

2004 use year points are good for stays between 2/1/2004 and 1/31/2005.

2005 use year points are good for stays between 2/1/2004 and 1/31/2006.

2006 use year points are good for stays between 2/1/2004 and 1/31/20057

Etc.

If you banked 7 points from your 2004 use year, they become valid for stays in your 2005 use year (2/1/2005 - 1/31/2006). If you do not use them before 1/31/2006, they expire. You cannot bank those same points again, so no, you could not use them for a stay beginning 2/1/2006 or later.

Both banking and borrowing are final transactions. You may borrow from one use year ahead, and bank into one use year ahead.

If you borrow points for a stay and then cancel it, you still have to use the borrowed points before the end of the "new" use year. If you don't, they expire. For example, suppose you borrow ten 2005 points for a December 2004 stay (which falls within your 2004 use year) and then have to cancel the trip. The ten borrowed points will expire on 1/31/2005 (end of 2004 use year) unless you are able to use them before then.

HTH.
