My son and I left the rest of the family at home for a quick four day trip to POP and to the Halloween party! This was our fifth trip in one year so it had to be done cheaply! For four days and two people in the room I have absolutely no complaints about POP! CM's were great, the room was clean and tidy, the food court had anything we needed for a quick meal, and the store had many items we both needed and/or ended up buying anyways! :) We never used the pools, but they looked fine. We did test the water and it was warm! The pool bar was open much later than AKL's which would have been nice had the trip been longer. As it was, we were at the parks all night long and once we finally got back we were dead tired.
Bus service was fine, although the end of the night bus wait was LONG. The buses came often, it was just the large quantities of people wanting on them at the same time. Even when we left a half hour early we still waited a long time. This is no fault of the bus service, but just the amount of people. I know better and should have waited until the park cleared out!

We did buy one mug, which was filled with frozen coke when DS would venture out to fill it. He loved that machine and thinks AKL should also get one! I had bought diet pepsi and water at the grocery stop which made up most of the rest of our in room beverages.

Food highlights of our trip were Le Cellier (mmmm shrimp, steak and a dessert platter!) and the tuna sandwich at Columbia Harbor House! (yes, the sandwich was fantastic!) We also ate at Momma Melrose, Brown Derby, and various counter service places but no standouts. We had dinner at POP the first night. Their Pecan crusted chicken w salad was good and it was nice to get real food at 11:00pm. We used a combo of cash and vouchers depending on where we were and what we wanted to eat.
Any questions or comments! (and I didn't even get that "how much did you spend" look! It was a great vacation!)

Nice to see your post and so glad you and your ds had a nice trip.

We leave for POP in a little less than 48 hours and since it's my first time at a Value, am a little leary. I'm sure we'll have fun though. The point of this trip is not the resort but the MNSSHP and meeting with friends!

I was very pleasantly surprised and quite happy with POP! I think you'll be too! You're going to love MNSSHP! We intended to meet up with some friends (fellow sorority sisters!)from here, but our plans all got crossed! There is always a next time! Have a safe and happy trip!

Debbie

Debbie,

I was hoping you would do a trip report and was glad to see it. So glad you had a good time. We also enjoyed our visit there in January, and we're most used to Poly. Will be returning to PC and AKL this week and can't wait. How were the crowds? (besides at the bus stop at park closing) Did you have fun at MNSSHP? You also ate at some of my favorite places, too. (LeCellier... yummy!). More details, please... if you get a chance!

Crowds were a lot bigger than I thought they'd be. I am guessing a lot of people put off their vacations and are now taking them now that the hurricanes are staying away. Using Fast Pass, and bypassing things that weren't necessary we never waited over 20 minutes for anything, but 20 is also my limit! :) There were times that we walked right on rides. Thursday night at BTMR and Splash, and the party night at SM. We used FP at TT and only waited 10 minutes at MS. HTT was also a quick wait on Thursday.

Wasabi shrimp cocktail rules! I loved the slaw with the shrimp! The Steak was fabulous, and the dessert sampler tray was mmmmmm! We have declared Le Cellier to have the best creme brulee so far in the parks and resorts, and we're picky about our creme brulee! (Yes, I have an 11 year old who lives for good creme brulee!) Our waiter, Paul (from Windsor just south of me!) was great and we made sure his manager knew of our thoughts.

MNSSHP>> Headless horseman on Main Street! How cool is that! We did stake out a place across from LTT on the stone fence and it made a great viewing spot for the parade! Munching on popcorn, drinking pop, VILLAINS! What a night! It really felt a lot like the trick or treat nights you see on TV, but never in your own neighborhood. *also without the threat of snow!*The entire night was just so "cool" I can't think of a better word! Everyone was in great spirits *pun intended! HA* If you're debating about wearing a costume, wear it! We saw tons of adults in costumes and wished we'd come up with something better than being "Lilo's cousins twice removed" *matching Mickey Hawaiian shirt/dress with a Disbug made lei from the sorority meet* (I almost dressed as a pool hopper/mug abuser, but figured the joke would only be seen by a select few of us here) It was a long night, but a great one!

You should've went for it. I believe there are A LOT of people that just cruise the boards without ever posting. I bet there would be quite a few that would know what it meant. I would've even paid air fare and a nights lodging just to see how your costume turned out. That picture BT posted keeps popping in my head - LOL!

OHHH....the WASABI SHRIMP is my #1 APP in all of Epcot! What did you think of the presentation? Outrageous...yes? *(in the cute take-out box spilled onto the cool plate!!). The shrimp was SO generously strewn over the bed of veggies, etc. It was SO yummy. DD and I both ordered this one, DH ordered the scallops...(which came with only THREE on the PLATE...). The STEAKS are the BEST there! Alberta beef is PRIME, w/out any steroids, etc. PURE...CORN-FED CATTLE. It is amazing. DD, being VEG...(eats seafood...sometimes), ate Lobster. DH and I had the Giant Ribeyes with the bone-in. They were FAB!! Le Cellier has come a LONG-WAY over the years!!! ::yes::

The Creme Brulee was DD's absolute fav, *(she too is a Connoisseur of the custard cups). It was a maple creme brulee, with a special maple "leaf" placed in the custard. I have to agree--it was delectible. I had the Canadian Whiskey chocolate cake, and DH had the cobbler! All the selections were so great...and the wait people are attentive & proficient. I can hardly wait to return. :teeth:

BTMRR is still open? The one here in DL is closed...permanently. :( Due to all the accidents, *(including the one fatal), they closed it. We LOVE this ride, and heard the news while we were in the world this summer. I thought they may also close the one in WDW. I hope they never do...as we have had so many fun times on this train, especially on E-RIDE night.

Sorry to read you did not get to meet up with the sisters, etc. But, with only 4-eves with your DS...and enjoying POP, the time FLIES!! I thrilled to read you loved POP with him, and he also enjoyed the frozen coke machine! I use the one at the Dolphin on occasion, and LOVE the SLUSH!
;) I really detest the LONG bus rides and the crowded "standing room only" situation which many times ensues.

All in all...sounds as if you had a FAB time!!

Welcome Back:cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2: Glad you had a wonderful time at Pop. Sorry your trip was a little shorter than you may have wanted, but still it was 4 days in Disney. I'm hoping to get a little use out of my AP's too. Thanks for your dining experiences also. I may have to check out that Wasabi Shrimp!

Oh! It looks like we all been "bitten" by the WASABI SHRIMP "bug"! LOL!

It's our favorite also!::yes::

WELCOME BACK HOME, DEBBIE!!!!!!:grouphug:

ooh, gotta try that wasabi shrimp cocktail - DH will eat wasabi on just about anything. We always pick up a tube at Mitsukoshi, 'cuz it's the best we've found outside of Tokyo.

Ohhh you must try the wasabi shrimp! Its presentation is so cute, and tastes so great!
DS just looked over my shoulder and said to let everyone know that the coconut shrimp at Brown Derby is still excellent as always, too! (but we put the Wasabi on top!) Now if only we could find a decent brie in the states! :)

Food highlights of our trip were Le Cellier (mmmm shrimp, steak and a dessert platter!) and the tuna sandwich at Columbia Harbor House! (yes, the sandwich was fantastic!)
That reminded me that the tuna sandwich at The Plaza in MK is the most perfect old-fashioned tuna sandwich I've ever had. The one at Columbia Harbor House is good, but I usually order the vegetarian sandwich there - the hummus is yummy. I'm thinking about switching our Teppanyaki PS to Le Cellier now, just to try that wasabi shrimp! The toughest part of planning for me this trip has been narrowing down our restaurant choices - there are so many we want MIL & FIL to try. The last time they were at WDW the luau was the biggest adventure in dining!

:teeth: :teeth:
LOVE the costume idea - hey there's always next Halloween - and I'm sure we will still be posting about *those* people in a years time!! LOL

I just have one question - where's the pics?!? I would love to see shots of MNSSHP and your "Lello and Stuch" costumes. :teeth:

There aren't any! I forgot the digital completely, and truth be told, even when I have a camera I am horrible at taking pictures with it! I have great memories! :) (darn it, I don't think you'll let me off the hook but I really dont have any pictures!) We were a sad looking "lilo's second cousins" I was in my Mickey/Minnie poly dress with DS in a matching shirt. I had on a flower lei, and one around my wrist. We were called the "matching family" by a CM, who laughed even harder when we told him we were Lilo's second cousins three times removed! The party was great, the atmosphere was just filled with joy and happiness. Everyone was having a great time. It was like all the die hard disney fans were there and all the "don't get it" people stayed home! Everyone was making nice comments about people's costumes, helping people, no line jumping, etc etc. It was an awesome night filled with smiles!

Great trip report....great trip!!!
Glad you had such fun Debbie. :D

Thank you thank you thank you, Debbie!!

I didn't think it was possible to be more excited but here I am!!

:Pinkbounc

THANKS! Glad you had such a wonderful time. Just printed out your posts to show DH :)

72hours til we land in Orlando!

#1hockeymom, oh, I wish you would have been there NEXT week. It would have been fun to have hooked up with you again! (I head to WDW in less than 48 hours.)

I enjoyed the Pop Century, too. I considered staying there again on this trip but chose the All Stars - Sports instead (it will be my very first All Stars stay and I am looking forward to it). However, I will definitely be back at the Pop Century at some point in the future. I didn't get a chance to try out its pool even though my room faced the Hippy Dippy Pool (what a great name for a pool).

I agree with you about the pool name! The flowers squirting water into the main pool looked very cute, too! I wish we'd had some time to hang out at the pool (and pool bar) during our short trip. Maybe next time!

I told Dh about my review last night and he first said "you posted a review?" His very next statement was "There really are people as crazy as you?" He knows where I post, he knows I've met many of you, and he still doesn't get it! Yes, he loves Disney, just not in the "amount" I do! I am so glad I am able to share my love of Disney with others like myself!\

So sorry we couldn't get our plans to match, Janet! It was great meeting up with you during our July trip! I had a get together in our suite! :) I still can't get over that and it brings a smile to my face every time I think about it!

Debbie

Hey Hockeymom!

I was just lurking about this morning and saw your post. Glad to hear you squeezed in another trip this year. Potatohead and I are taking the kids in Feb (shhh, its a surprise) and staying at the WL for the first time. We are so excited. Now we will just have to hunt down some of that wasabi shrimp . . .

Take care.

Lauren

#1HM: So glad to see that you and your son had a great time at Pop Century. I knew that you would love it. The Hippy Dippy Pool was so cute, I was able to enjoy it since we spent an extra 7 days thanks to Hurricane Frances. :earseek: :earseek:

You've got my mouth watering for the wasabi shrimp, will have to try it on our next trip.

When's your next trip?:smooth:
