Is this still at magic kingdom? I figured that this would be super fun to do but all of the links on the official Disney sites seem not be working (stitch ate page) and I'm not seeing any booster packs or the card game ( I think there was a home card game) on the Disney store so I wasn't sure.

As far as I know it is still operational. You can get your cards at the Main Street Fire Station.

The cards from the fire station are free. If you want to buy more cards, you can do it from the Disney Store. Depending upon how serious you are about it, I would probably just get the free cards. If you link your family together, then each of you can get a pack and you can pay together. It's really fun.

You can also get the cards from Guest Services at MK. The fire station would give them to us before 9 am and then they were closed by the time we made it back around. I asked at guess services where we got our buttons and they gave me what I asked for.

I'm very interested in doing this with my kids for our May trip. This is only our second Disney trip so I feel we have so much to do and see in MK, but they saw someone doing one of these when we went last Sept and they want to try it. If we get to the park before rope drop when they are allowing people in to mill around Main Street, can we pick up the cards then? What is the process? Do we link us all to our phone (I see someone mentioned linking family members)

Yes, it was still working last month. You can get your cards at the Firehouse on Main Street.

The game links to your magic band, not your phone. (and presumably your ticket if you don't have a magic band, but I'm not positive about that).

You should be ablet o get started with the game at the Firehouse before rope drop, if the firehouse is open then.

What is the process?
You just go to the Fire Department or the shop by Sleepy Hollow. You walk up and they hand them to you. They'll scan your bands at the sensor they have right there. They'll ask if you've played before, and if your answer is no they'll explain it to you. There's no linking via phone or anything. When people above talk about linking, it's thru the magic band. Basically you get a set of cards for your party. You then run around the park to stations which have hidden gems that you wouldn't notice if you never played this. You're all linked together, so you can all trigger the mirrors. What we do is we'll divide up a few of ours... That way more of us get cards. They'll advise against this, because it'll generally mean splitting up your party to go to entirely different parts of the park. Also your bands will only activate YOUR missions, so if you are going to travel as a group, it's best to be all on one link so all your kids can go up and do it and not get the "you're in the wrong place" error screens.

One suggestion: there were times when we were playing at night that the sensors had trouble reading our cards. My husband took photos of his cards on his phone, and used the photo of the card in front of the card reader to play at night and it worked better (it also meant he didn't have to carry the big pile of cards that we have)

Thank you everyone. I had the phone thing in my head because we have done the Phineas and Ferb missions at Epcot which use a phone. Having it on the magic band sounds way easier!

I don't think the Sleepy Hollow spot is open anymore?

Oh my goodness! When we were there last month, my husband was so excited to try this game (it was his first visit ever to WDW), and we went to four different stations on Main St., and none of them would read his cards! He was so disappointed. I will have to tell him about this trick for next time!

We do it every time, my husband really loves that game. We always bring all our cards and trade with other players. This is also fun and sometimes you can bring a little pixie dust if you have a card which someone else is looking for.
