Sorcerers - help!

My 11 yr old son and I are going in November for 8 days. Last year we made the mistake of playing Sorcerers (for the 1st time ever) on the last day of our trip and boy was he mad when we had to stop in order to get to our dinner reservation. I'm going to dedicate more time throughout the week to play this, Pirates and Agent P. but here is my dilemma - we are going to be with friends for 3 of the days of our trip. They won't have park hoppers so they'll have to do MK all in one day - three boys at the prime age for playing this kind of game. When we were taking votes on what attractions to do this was the one they were all most excited about.

On the last trip my son was obsessed with trying to beat as many villains as possible and I'm sure his friends will be the same. I don't personally care one way or the other how much time they spend playing but my hesitation is that they'll get to the end of the day and realize they didn't ride as many rides as they wanted and be disappointed. I really found it to take more time than we anticipated - especially when you factor in waiting for others ahead of you. And then add to that there are three of them - how does that even work?

Advice? Would love to hear others experiences.

:)

That is a dilemma. Happily for us, we had already taken several trips to Disney World when the game came out, and had ridden everything many times already.

So, first off, with multiple players, you have two choices:

1) everyone plays their own game, has their own "key" card. It will send them all over the place, and be a huge pain.

2) they play cooperatively as a team. They still each get their own cards, but only one key card, and they all move together instead of going all over the place.

I would say option number 2 is by far the best. Get to the park at rope drop. Do the big rides quickly in the morning, taking advantage of FP+ and the shorter lines the first few hours. After lunch, then I would say from lunch until supper is a good time to play as much sorcerers as you can. After supper, maybe a few more rides before the parade / fireworks.

Oh?! They can play as a group ... that will definitely be what we do. I will just have to lay down the law ahead of time about taking turns so they don't argue. This plan sounds pretty reasonable to me!

Think I could have written this! I have two boys--now 14 and 12. They discovered this last year and LOVE it. They collected all the cards. Even played with the game boards at home. (By the way--a great souvenir. I think it's about $13 comes with at least one special card and a paper game board for a home version of the game). But I digress...

When we decided to go back this year, this is the one thing they really, really, really want to do! But following them around last year, portal to portal, wasn't exactly thrilling for DH and I. Got old fast! Luckily, my guys are a little older too. So this year we promised them their own time to play the game! We've never let them off on their own in the park, but I think they're ready. Very responsible, respectful, well behaved. They know their way around the park. And they'll have a cell phone.

So they get to spend a few hours playing on their own--which they're very excited about! DH and I will probably do things like Hall of Presidents and Carousel of Progress, poke in the shops, maybe just sit and people watch. But kind of have our own time, too.

Maybe the adults in your party could take turns staying with the boys while the rest of the group goes off and does a ride or two. Then switch. Definitely have the boys share a game. Have everyone in your party get the cards--everyone with a ticket to enter the park gets a pack. Have fun!

Ahhhh... That sounds nice. I wish they were old enough to do it on their own. We are meeting a friend (and her two boys) and her mother who hasn't been since the 70's. I'm hoping that while we are playing the game they'll feel free to do some things on their own. I'm there for a week and they are there for just three days and I want everyone to have a great time.

If you're doing MK in one day with your friends, I recommend RideMax. You can carve out a few hours in the afternoon (when standby lines are longest) for Sorcerers, and put that into your plan as a break.

Or you can see where RideMax puts in free time, and use that as your Sorcerers time. Typically free time ends up in the afternoon.

Plus it will recommend best times for FP+.

I think this is a good plan.

OR you can agree to do an area - like Fantasyland - then ride some rides then move on to the next land etc. You can choose where you start but you don't know which land it will send you to next. Remember if they are playing separately they could all 3 get sent to different lands after the first one....
