Sorcerer's Hat at MGM ???

I've read several books and we've been to Disney three times in the past four years -- once they were building the hat so I feel like I should know more about this, but I don't so I am posting an embarassing question...

Can you please tell me more about the Sorcerer's Hat at MGM? Can you go inside it? If so, what's in there? I've been near but I don't know if you can go inside. If you can, we missed that last time. Please tell what I need to know about this hat. Thanks!!

Under the hat is a Disney pin station. So if you need to buy any pins that would be about all you can do under the hat.

It does make for a nice picture of MGM.

When the hat was first there, some kiosks were under it for the 100 years of magic... little machines that had screens you could touch, I think it asked you questions about all of the parks.. Now they are gone and its pins.. and maybe some other small things to buy! They do have a character meet & greet around the hat at certain times throughout the day. Its a pretty big one too! Lots of characters come out!

The hat is more of a structure than an attraction. There is a small gift shop underneath it and you're free to get as close to it as possible.

On the main street, Hollywood Boulevard near where it intersects with Sunset Boulevard. I took it on the way out of MGM after Fantasmic.
