Sorcerers card question

My grandson does not want to put his cards in a book. He wants to punch a hole in them and put them on a ring. Our question is will doing this affect the ability to use the card when in the Magic Kingdom to play the game?

Everything I have read about the cards says no: what must be seen by the cameras surrounding the portals are the three white circles surrounding the main picture. I would think a hole punched near a corner would be okay.
