Hi all. I was looking at the pictures of last years character swap items and I saw some amazing Sorcerer Mickey paper piecings (in fact one of them looked just like my tattoo :)). How did you make these? I would love to be able to make a Sorcerer Mickey to go in my album next to my pictures with him:woohoo: I also collect Sorcerer Mickey so I could maybe make a framed wall hanging too:lovestruc Any help would be greatly appreciated! TIA, Cheryl:goodvibes

I don't think he's on any cricut cart, but I'm sure someone will correct me if he is. The old fashioned way is to find a coloring book page of him in the pose you'd like, and make several photo copies of it.

Cut the outline of the whole figure in black. Use one of your copies as a pattern for each color you need, and cut those pieces out. Then layer them all on the black.

Thank You! It never occured to me to copy & cut :confused3 I'm so used to using my cricut that I forgot about doing things the "old school" way :rotfl:

It could have been made using SCAL 2 and the Cricut. I made Mickey's Sorcerer Hat using SCAL for a swap.

I made this Sorcerer Mickey for last year's Character Swap. I used the Cricut to make him. I cut the body of one of the Mickeys from the Mickey & Friends cart and then cut the robe and the hat from Paper Dolls. If you want the exact items I used and sizes, let me know and I'll go find my notes on that swap.

Okay, I give up--what is SCAL? I've seen it mentioned several times on the threads amd I have no idea what it is or where to get it :confused3 I love, love, love the "S" with the hat :goodvibes

DIT: I have both of those carts so I would definately be able to make this one. Thanks :)

Jennifer - where did you get the pic to make the hat in SCAL...I know you told me it was a coloring page. Was it one online or did you scan it? I would love to make one!! I have not been able to find it anywhere??

SCAL (Sure Cuts a Lot) is a software (non-Provo Craft), that works with your Cricut. My machine is way out of warranty, so I went for it. You can use all the fonts on your computer and pretty much any image out there. There is a way to trace an image in SCAL and work with the pieces and parts to cut it out.

It was online, but I can't remember where.

This is perfect! If you wouldn't mind posting the sizes, I would love them. I have so many pictures from HS to scrap.

Thanks Vickey

Sure thing! Good thing I wrote it all down, because my memory was wrong!:rotfl:

Mickey & Friends cart:
head - pg. 79 @ 4 inches
hands - pg. 82 @ 3/4 inches
shoes - pg. 80 @ 3/4 inch shadow

Paper Dolls cart:
body - pg. 29 @ 4 inches
robe - pg. 77 @ 4 inches
hat - pg. 54 @ 4 inches

For the belt, I just tied a gold cord around him.

you'll need to trim the paper dolls body's head a bit or it'll show behind the Mickey head. The same with the hands on the body, they'll need to be trimmed a bit too.

Thanks! I really need to start writing down my cricut cuts as well, I can never remember the sizes as well. Did you use the cartridges for the "magic" as well? I should get a little notebook to keep with all of my cricut stuff!

Thanks Vickey

If I'm cutting something just for myself, I don't usually write it down. But, I do a lot of swapping on the swap board and I write all the info down just in case I need it.

The topper letters and stars were cut at:

Letters = 2 inch from Mickey Font
Stars = 2 inch and 2 1/2 inch from Mickey & Friends

Have fun cutting!!!!

Thanks so much!! I'll have to wait to download it though--DH has my laptop that has all of my pictures and digital photo stuff on it. I think it may be time for him to get his own laptop for work as whenever he borrows mine I seem to end up needing it and it was bought specifically for my photo stuff. Apparently I'm not the worlds best at sharing :rotfl:
