Hi,
:confused3
Had a question. My husband and I are interested in renting points for next October. We initially were planning on purchasing tickets with Disney Dining. My question is this:

Does renting from a DVC member get you into the parks?

What about Dining? Is it available and how much?

Thanks In Advance
Amy

No.

Being a member doesn't even get us into the parks.

Park admission is separate.

The only advantage for DVC members is that we get, at present, a $100 discount on Annual Passes.

As to the dining plans, I do believe that they could be added to your reservation without any problem.

Think of renting from a DVC member like renting a house at the shore. You get a room at a DVC resort, but not tickets or food or anything else.

You can get the Disney Dining Plan, for the same price as you'd get it from CRO in a package. I'm not sure of the current pricing, but it's the exact same plan. You'll find plenty of info on the Dining Plan Board here.

The member will need to add the DDP to your reservation, and Magical Express, too, if you want that. You'll pay for the DDP when you check in at the resort.

You'll need to buy your own tickets.

Thank you both very much! It just helps me plan how much I need to sequester away! BTW, if anyone has any points for rent for next October keep me in mind! We are looking for the BWV with our second choice being the Beach Club! We just love that area!!
Thanks again!!!!

It's always a pleasure to answer a sophomoric question, rather than a freshmanic one.

The price for DDP 2008 is $37.99 per adult (that's 10 or older) and $9.99 per child. DDP has changed fundamentally for 2008, and it no longer includes an appetizer with the TS meal, nor does it include the gratuity. So...you get a table service meal with entree, dessert and non-alcoholic beverage, a counter service meal with dessert and non-alcoholic beverage, and a snack each day for each person in your party.

Everyone in the room must be on DDP for every day of your reservation. The only difference between DVC DDP and the regular DDP is that there is no park ticket requirement with DVC. (You still need tickets to get in the parks, but you don't have to purchase them as part of a package to get DDP. So, for example, if you already have APs you would not have to buy tickets.)

Since that is a VERY popular time at those resorts, you will want to try to make arrangements with an owner 11 months in advance if your dates are firm. If your dates are not firm...you really can't do much of anything.

Check the DIS Rent/Trade board. Read the "stickies" at the top of the board carefully, because they a) give a lot of great advice, and b) tell you how you must phrase your posts on the R/T board. This board is not the right place to try to hook up with an owner, and the mods will remove threads that look like that here.

Do your homework carefully, and good luck!

:confused3 When deciding whether or not you want DDP, I encourage to carefully read the changes that will occur in 2008. It makes it far less attractive than what you may have had before or may have heard about.

::yes::

Thank you so much! I was figuring on about $100 a day for the DDP.

As for the 2008 changes where can I find those or have they been announecd yet?

Here's a link to the DDP board. The 2008 FAQ is one of the stickies at the top of the page, and it contains most of the info you will need. http://www.disboards.com/forumdisplay.php?f=116

The only thing to understand about the 2008 plan when you see the brochure is that many of the restaurants are not currently shown as being on the DDP for 2008. Ignore that. By January, all of the ones who were on in 2007 will be on for 2008. They're in the process of contracting now, and that is a bit slow.

As sharond150 said, the plan has changed quite a bit, and it may or not be worthwhile for your family. You'll just have to research, do the math and decide.

I think overall though, food excluded, we want to be able to take our kids every year or two years, and then our grandchildren.

It will take some saving on my part, (BIG TIME!), but in the end I think it will be worth it down the road. Dunno though. Partly the reason I want to see what it is like next year and if it would be worth the hassle!

If you've never used DDP and think it will save you money, then by all means ENJOY! You won't know what you will be "missing" from previous years' plans.

If you rent at least a one bedroom (sleeps four), you will have a full kitchen and can prepare your meals there to save money.
