I was reading the thread about tear jerker movies and I saw Sophie's Choice mentioned. I have seen the movie up to the part at the train station where she has to make her choice, but I have never been able to stay for the part where she MAKES her choice, so I have no idea what it is. I have seen the whole movie, EXCEPT that part, I always get up and leave because I just can't handle it! I know it sounds strange, but I want to know what her choice is before I watch it again! I have even seen the end, just never the train station part. Can someone PM me what happens, or since the movie is so old, you could post it because I maybe the only person who doesn't know what happend!!!

This is one of the saddest movies I have ever seen.

I actually only caught the last 45 minutes of the movie and it left me crying for days. I would pick myself rather than be forced with that decision.

But that was not an option right.........it was one or both children.....

I don't think she had an option to choose herself. I think this is one great movie and forgot all about it til this post. Its the type of movie that stays with you for awhile.

She didn't have the option to pick herself. Although in the end, that is what she eventually chose anyway, her guilt being more than she could live with. :(

If you love this movie, you should read the book. It is absolutely wonderful, though really sad.

WARNING IF YOU DON'T WANT TO KNOW, DON'T READ THIS :

She chooses the boy because she thought he was stronger and would have a better chance of survival. Unfortunately, that's not the worst part..the movie gets worse.

That was such a powerful and sad movie. Just watching it makes your heart cry for all of the people who were victims of the Holocaust.
