So, I was TRYING to get some sleep, when the phone started ringing. I knew it wasn't Mickey this time, because it was my cell phone. What does that husband of mine want?
Well, he wanted to tell me that he made it onto the task force for DCI. That was good news, but it also meant that he'd be in meetings until 5:00 tomorrow night.... or did it?
He then revealed that since he was brand new to the task force, that they didn't need him tomorrow night.

In fact... they didn't need him at ALL tomorrow!! We get to be together all day!!
Step one was to recover on some sleep! We were up at 9:00. We grabbed some bagels and pastries at the food court which was a MAD HOUSE

I prefer the quiet desolation of the 6:30-7:00am time slot!
We drove over to BCV to park, since we knew our day would be ending at Epcot with Illuminations. We then hopped on a bus headed for MK. Today was the day we were going to do NEW things at MK!
It was VERY chilly today. We were pleading for the sun to break through the clouds and warm things up.
MK entrance was empty. We zipped right through security and the gates. We took in Main Street
and made it to the hub just in time for the show to start.
We have never taken the time to watch this in its entirety. It was fabulous... those back-up dancers can kick quite high, I tell you! Here are some pictures from the show... enjoy!
After the show we forced ourselves to turn Left into Adventureland instead of our usual Right into Tomorrowland. Neither of us had seen Hall of Presidents so we decided to give this Disney classic a try. We had a while before the next show, so we ventured over to Haunted Mansion.
We had a pleasant ride, Matt had NEVER been on it... I have ridden it probably more than any other Disney ride... the changes are cool and Matt enjoyed the tag-alongs at the end of the ride. But.. eh... it was alright. We wouldn't need to be riding it again on this trip.
Finally, time for HoP:
During the show, Matt and I spent most of our time watching the Presidents that were NOT speaking. It was so neat to see the details that make them REALLY look alive! Like the swinging of a foot, or the glance with another President.
We also had lengthy discussion about how that exhibit will have to change if a Democrat wins the upcoming election. They will get to address the historic election of either a woman or an African American. Would love to see how Disney does it!
Time for my 1st DOLE WHIP!! Okay.. I was TOTALLY confused when I walked up to the stand. I thought I would say to the CM, "I'd like a Dole Whip". Then I look at the menu board and realize there several items on the menu with "DOLE WHIP".

I didn't know what to do! So I ordered one thing, and when the CM handed it to me, it didn't look like what I had seen on the DIS. So I asked him if I could try something else instead. He let me keep the 1st mistake (which was a blend of Dole Whip with vanilla ice cream) and gave me the Dole Whip float... which looked like what I had seen on the DIS...
see?
So, yes, I got a freebie by batting my eyelashes and turning so the CM could see my anniversary pin. But, you know what? I should've stuck with the Dole Whip/vanilla combination, because it was MUCH better than the float. The float was SUPER pineapple-y and had lots of juice... too much for me! Next time, I'll know what to do. How embarassing!!
The Jungle Cruise was in the area, and I don't think I've been on that since my family brought me here in 1975... seriously!! We decided it was another Disney classic that DH had NEVER been on... so we waited OVER 30 minutes to ride it. UGH!!
Our guide tried really hard... but those jokes are just SO corny!!!
A few more pics from our lame-o cruise:
After that stellar (read, lame) ride, we were ready to get to DHS. We were planning on coming back to PM EMH at MK anyway to battle it out at Buzz Lightyear!!
Since I was expecting to be alone today, I had planned on taking a boat over to WL to do some exploring. Well, once again, my attempt at hanging out at a new resort went to the dogs! DH was ready for some ToT and we wanted to catch Return to Zero before the Beauty and the Beast show... so we were off!
But Return to Zero failed us... find out why.... Coming up!!
